I was a mod for an onion forum a few years back. Past the occasional child porn, it’s mostly just like reddit or twitter. A surprising amount of people using onion links are people from countries like China or Russia, where internet access is limited on the general web. Most of them have no ill intentions, just wanting to explore deeper than the surface :-)

Yes the dark web gives u access to messed up crap, yes you increase your chance at getting hacked, Noone is going to show up to your house over it.
