    Swanson is the OG. 👍
    “Albert J. Swanson invented the A Speed Square in 1925 as a carpenter's layout tool. He later founded Swanson Tool Company to produce it.[3] Today, Swanson Tool Company still manufactures and distributes the Speed Square and other carpentry tools from its headquarters in Frankfort, Illinois.” - “Speed square” entry on Wikipedia

      @@MORGANSMaintenance The first speed square I bought was a Swanson, because I like to use tools from the original manufacturer, if I can. I figure the 4” trim square and 12” rafter square are just derivatives of the original 7” speed square. Kind of like having 6”, 8”, and 10” adjustable Bahco wrenches or 6”, 8”, and 10” Channellock tongue and groove pliers.

    Great Video Joey! And great comments in here Community!
    I’ve had the full size Swanson Speed Square for going on 35 years, and it is still goin strong. I also have a very useful 12” ‘Speed Square’ made by Empire. And I also bought and tried out both of the Milwaukee squares. I like the trim square featured here, as It will fit in small spaces in order to check that framing, etc is correct.
    IMO the winner here is the Swanson, for the average DIY’r or Handyman, or Carpenter. The Sunilfprod, or w/e it is called 🙄 would make sense for a woodworker, as Joey pointed out. The Martinez; well, it is almost information overload! Lotta features, obviously well made and high quality, as it should be for the price it sells for. For someone doing high end trim work, or custom made cabinetry, etc, it might pay for itself in the long run.
    I think I will look into the Swanson ‘Trim Square,’ and maybe the iflyloprod? 😆 ( I’m a sucker for a nice case! ) Another really good video Joey. I’m at a loss for anything clever? Guess I’m just too square? 👍🙏😆

    Stiletto now has a micro square as well, but I think TrigJig is making the best small trim squares these days. I really like their 4.5" trim square, but I really, really want their PSQ7 "Pocket Square". I think it has a number of advantages over full size rafter squares and trim-size squares. It's much more compact than the former, and it's much more useful than the latter. See, trim squares have the major disadvantage of being too short for many of the marking and layout tasks that a trim carpenters need to do. They can't square all the way across many trims, including baseboard, nickel gap, tongue and groove, etc, so it makes marking tasks harder or impossible. The PSQ7 could do much more, plus it has 1/32" scribes (overkill, probably, and only useable with small pencil leads) and it would fit in much smaller tool belt pouches. Out of stock at the moment, and pricey, but I do want.

    Oh by I'm a big trim square fan myself. I have a fancy stellto(gift from the ms's and it has a level in it) smart square (which are fantastic) the expendable ones cressent/husky. Thies are my 7in ones which don't get as much use as thoes little trim squares! We have a ton of thoes milwaukee squares around the jobsite because they come in a 2 pack with a 7in for 15 bucks around holiday. No one us sad when one gets killed or used as a shim at the 7 dollar price point. The one that gets use on nice woodwork the most is igaging bench square since it requires a mechanical pencil stainless steel and alot more affordable than woodpeckers. I do suggest if you want a fancy square bench square at under 50 dollars is a fantastic buy(stainless steel feels great 👍). If your one of thoes support small companies people DFM though woodworking oriented is made in the usa and really solid square with unique features that are actually useful. Plenty if suggestions here look up a few of them all on az by the way. Thanks for the tour and the squares the wife buys you is the most treasured and the one you are sadest about loosing. Mine is engraved by a local trophy shop with a personal nickname "hint" to the signicant others who want to get a special gift for thoes who have too many tools already.

Grandpa passed it down to my dad and my dad gave it to me. Well i took it when he got too old to mess around in the shop anymore. Id give it to my son but aint gonna get to have me any before i die. • @MORGANSMaintenance

      @Kenny-mg1ls For a lot of people that’s probably true…I don’t know why would I need 7” to go across a 3-1/2” 2x4?
      I typically do commercial interior wood and metal stud framing, so it’s all I need.
      I usually cant build walls and stand them up, so Im not marking two plates at once, and am often building a wall in front of block walls and I can’t use a 7” square, it’s too long.
      Just depends on what you do and how you do it. All tools have different uses in the hands of someone else.
