Yes I knew that. He participates not only in the designing of costumes but also the editing of music. Once one of the music editors said that he was surprised when Yuzuru pointed out a tiny gap between a "second" in the sound. He said that normally even a music composer or editor wouldn't notice such a small "almost unnoticeable" gap. Yuzuru is a born skater, but the beauty of his skating is a complete reflection of his native ability to sense a music sound, artistic expression, aerial movement, changes of environments, including colors and energy around the rink.
Yes totally agree~ When I watched his programs, every program is different because he will do some special action to fit the musical notes. He truly feels the music. That's why it's so beautiful watching him skate..
Yeah, I still remember the FaOI rehearsals 2018, when Yuzu said to the pianist, Shinya Kiyokuza: 'Hey, nice finish on the black keys.' And Kiyozuka was like: 'Wow, you heard that?' Usually he played that part on the white keys and was surprised that Yuzu noticed the difference by just listening 😅

I wonder if anybody has noticed this: during the Seimei program, when the drum made two sounds "ban, ban," Yuzuru spreaded the right arm, then the left arm, matching to each "ban" respectively. The movement was perfectly matching to the drum sounds, and such an exact "movement" made all the audiences excited more, which was the natural reaction to the perfect show of music or theater show. After having witnessed this perfection of the musicality and the skating, I never doubt his natural "sense" to detect any music tone or tune to match his skating to the "T". I can see that when the music tone changes, he jumps or lands from a jump, or starts spins or steps, and so on, flawlessly and seamlessly without breaking the music flow.
Yuzuru can carry any style and colour. Somehow I appreciate his costume more after his performance. It’s like he brings out the story or characters of the costume with his performance. Don’t know how to explain but seems that his performance gives life to the costume, making it more special.
Yes!! Me too!! Those costumes help him to tell the stories. Think about all his programs, and the costumes. Like heaven and earth, the way the costume flies.. He's like a real samurai from heaven there. And the LMEY, so so special when he did those swagger kicks and cool moves on ice! And it suits the blinding lights too! Just.. perfection!
Those costumes are beautiful. For some men, those styles won't be appropriate for them. But Yuzuru shines more when he wears them on rink. That's because of his self confidence and star aura.

Yuzuru Hanyu's costumes are a stunning part of the symphony he creates with all the features of his performance. His skating has such beautiful phrasing, to borrow a term from music. Any musician who produces beautiful phrasing breathes life into the performance of the music. When Yuzu skates, every movement is in synch with that music. I love how he analyzes how the costumes will also perform for him! They have a job of underlining the performance, accentuating spins and loops, adding to the fluidity, keeping the viewer's eyes glued to Yuzu. One has the feeling we're participating in a piece of the Divine. Being the first Japanese male to top every competition he enters, he has drawn from his unique self, beautifully integrating his culture and its spirituality into Sei Mei. His other interpretations touch our humanity and make us weep because we feel it so deeply through him. Other skaters have not yet been able to know themselves as well as him, so their work is a product of other people who trained them and as a result, superficial. There are few figures from history who have been able to express their unique spirit through their art. I can think of only a couple. I think we can't take our eyes off him because we hunger for beauty after some ugly times on the planet. We look to him, to remind us that beauty will lift us to places we need to go in our minds. Thank you for such an informative video on the creative process behind costume design. The designers are virtuosos in their own rights and deserve appreciation for creating excitement for the viewers! :D
Every costume he wore is stunning but what makes it more mesmerizing is his body proportions and how he skates with it. Sure some skaters would look in his costumes but the way yuzuru delivers the art of his costumes throughout his programs is what makes him so unique. It's not just a piece of clothing made so he could look good in his programs but rather a work of art he carries as he skates. He skates with such elegance and delicacy, something that's rare to see among men. That made me love and respect him even more. Thank you to the designers especially Ito Satomi for creating Yuzuru Hanyu's legendary costumes. Though I'm not very good at English, I hope I put my thoughts well into words.
Yuzu's Notte Stellata (The Swan) gala costume is just so beautiful. Like it literally fits him perfectly and I could not imagine a more suitable person to fit that costume. Plus his skating during that gala is just *magnificent* oh my god
Even if he has this concept of " less is more", he still has the most sophisticated outfits of all male skaters...I loved all his costumes during time, they all added a personal note to his routines. The only one that I guess was not a good choice, was the white costume from " Let's go crazy". I was a liitle shocked when I first saw that routine, because of that too white costume, Yuzu had almost ...no legs . ( the ice being white, was so hard to see those parts of Yuzuru's body dressed in a sparkling white).

Yuzuru pays attention to even the small details, sometimes those small details are not even appreciated and that is a shame,he even takes care of his own musical arrangement.I am a man but I love their costumes, they are beautiful because they are costumes that only Yuzuru Hanyu can wear and that is because of her confidence, also Yuzuru has such an elegant body,It takes style, attitude, confidence, and charisma to wear those costumes and that's what Yuzuru has. those costumes can only shine on Yuzuru Hanyu body.
Spot on! These costumes only work on Yuzuru's body really. There's an interesting story about it - that a Japanese media borrowed his outfit for a show series, but when it appeared in the show, it's hang on a normal hanger, not fitted on a mannequin (which looks a bit unprofessional). Turns out Yuzu's body is so unique (between men and women) and those costumes can't fit on a normal mannequin, hence the awkward way of showcasing the costume.. And fans were like "Remember to borrow also special mannequin when you wanna showcase his costumes next time yo.." :P
Parisianne walkways : Blue - it’s like coming of age from boy to man Let’s go crazy : White - the purple one is a sin just by looking at it, let alone stare at it. Otonal : i prefer the high neck style of the 2nd one but i like the design of the 1st one Origin : Black and Purple equally stunning esp up close where you can see the intricate design Seimei : ver. 3 - the design and style fits perfectly including the gold waist band Ballade : ver 4 - that shade of blue colour really suits him plus the neckline artwork. Also nothing beats the all black UA costume during practice. Simply mesmerising.

Haha not to shade other skaters but it's really true. Yuzu just has this special aura when he wears those costumes..Think about it, maybe it's because he paid so much attention in every detail. Every bit of that costume reflects his hours of thought and hard work behind. Some might not like it and some even propose for all figure skaters to wear a standard uniform like gymnasts... It's like.. eeeww to me.

Hanyu's elaborate costumes only work because of his pretty face and somewhat androgynous body proportions. Any other guy will look ridiculous in them. Just imagine Javier Fernandez wearing the swanyu costume...

I found a pigeon lost in traffic, I stopped all traffic so I could catch the pigeon, he still doesn't know how to eat, I feed him on his beak. I named him YUZURU. This is how I see Yuzuru Hanyu, like a bird, he doesn't seem to touch the ice, he flies, it's a delight to watch him.
Yuzuru's costumes are just top tier of all just like his skating. The one very special (for my eyes) is SEIMEI design. Purely special, absolute stand-out, so authentic, so fitting, so up to the atmosphere of the story, so almost elusively Japanese in a subtle way. And those cuts on the top of the sleeves, oof! The moment I first saw Yuzuru in it I fell in love with everything: Yuzuru himself, his program, the music, the aura of a warrior and strong presence ... I was totally hypnotized by it. Best masterpiece I've ever seen in figure skating!!!!!
Same here! Honestly before Yuzuru’s Seimei program I wasn’t really his fan (I stanned ladies skaters more 🤪） and since his seimei in 2015, I just couldn’t take my eyes off him and then started stanning the male skaters more and more 🤭🤭😃😃😃

(only speaking based o what ive seen in a lot of male fs lineups so forgive the generalization) if anything im so thankful yuzuru wears costumes that are like performances on their own.... so unique and eye-catching, as well as EXPRESSIVE. ive seen some really bland looking (mens really, women have gr8 costumes mostly) fits so its just one of the million things i really admire about yuzuru: his image on ice. wearing crystals and sparkly stuff with colors and OWNING it

I love all of his costumes, Satomi Ito is a genius! The thing is with Yuzu's costumes that other skaters couldn't pull them on. He makes these costumes of his own, just like he does the same same things with ice rinks. I am sure lot of male skaters would cringe so hard if they had to wear the swanyu for example but Yuzu is full of grace and confidence while wearing it. Just the same with his rock programs, find an another skater who would rock as hard as Yuzu in lmey costume. Also the fact that he basically arrives to Satomi with a clear idea and details about the new costumes, she just makes it real..... ( i am sucker for classical programs so i am one of those few people who wanna him to get a new sp...so if he does i can't wait for the costume:))
His costume tells the story of what he is performing. The every costume he wears in his performance was so fascinated and he wears it perfectly. He stands with an aura and looks like a Prince on the Ice..The impact was crazy..

Every costume he wore is stunning but what makes it more mesmerizing is his body proportions and how he skates with it. Sure some skaters would look in his costumes but the way yuzuru delivers the art of his costumes throughout his programs is what makes him so unique. It's not just a piece of clothing made so he could look good in his programs but rather a work of art he carries as he skates. He skates with such elegance and delicacy, something that's rare to see among men. That made me love and respect him even more. Thank you to the designers especially Ito Satomi for creating Yuzuru Hanyu's legendary costumes. Though I'm not very good at English, I hope I put my thoughts well into words.

Yuzu's Notte Stellata (The Swan) gala costume is just so beautiful. Like it literally fits him perfectly and I could not imagine a more suitable person to fit that costume. Plus his skating during that gala is just *magnificent* oh my god
Honestly he can wear all costumes on world.
He has the most unique body - a fine blend between feminine and masculine.. It's just special...
Even if he has this concept of " less is more", he still has the most sophisticated outfits of all male skaters...I loved all his costumes during time, they all added a personal note to his routines. The only one that I guess was not a good choice, was the white costume from " Let's go crazy". I was a liitle shocked when I first saw that routine, because of that too white costume, Yuzu had almost ...no legs . ( the ice being white, was so hard to see those parts of Yuzuru's body dressed in a sparkling white).
Then he changed to the purple version and made it even tougher for me to concentrate on the program haha

Mucha gente dice que sus vestuarios se verían mejor en una chica pero como yo lo veo el vestuario que usa Yuzuru se conecta mucho con la música y presentación que esta haciendo. Son hermosos y adecuados, la ropa no debería de tener género y solo deberían apreciar como encaja en cada programa.

Yuzuru pays attention to even the small details, sometimes those small details are not even appreciated and that is a shame,he even takes care of his own musical arrangement.I am a man but I love their costumes, they are beautiful because they are costumes that only Yuzuru Hanyu can wear and that is because of her confidence, also Yuzuru has such an elegant body,It takes style, attitude, confidence, and charisma to wear those costumes and that's what Yuzuru has.

Spot on! These costumes only work on Yuzuru's body really. There's an interesting story about it - that a Japanese media borrowed his outfit for a show series, but when it appeared in the show, it's hang on a normal hanger, not fitted on a mannequin (which looks a bit unprofessional). Turns out Yuzu's body is so unique (between men and women) and those costumes can't fit on a normal mannequin, hence the awkward way of showcasing the costume.. And fans were like "Remember to borrow also special mannequin when you wanna showcase his costumes next time yo.." :P

Let’s go crazy : White - the purple one is a sin just by looking at it, let alone stare at it.
Otonal : i prefer the high neck style of the 2nd one but i like the design of the 1st one
Origin : Black and Purple equally stunning esp up close where you can see the intricate design
Seimei : ver. 3 - the design and style fits perfectly including the gold waist band
Ballade : ver 4 - that shade of blue colour really suits him plus the neckline artwork.
Also nothing beats the all black UA costume during practice.
Simply mesmerising.

Haha not to shade other skaters but it's really true. Yuzu just has this special aura when he wears those costumes..Think about it, maybe it's because he paid so much attention in every detail. Every bit of that costume reflects his hours of thought and hard work behind. Some might not like it and some even propose for all figure skaters to wear a standard uniform like gymnasts... It's like.. eeeww to me.

Hanyu's elaborate costumes only work because of his pretty face and somewhat androgynous body proportions. Any other guy will look ridiculous in them. Just imagine Javier Fernandez wearing the swanyu costume...

Yuzuru's costumes are just top tier of all just like his skating. The one very special (for my eyes) is SEIMEI design. Purely special, absolute stand-out, so authentic, so fitting, so up to the atmosphere of the story, so almost elusively Japanese in a subtle way. And those cuts on the top of the sleeves, oof! The moment I first saw Yuzuru in it I fell in love with everything: Yuzuru himself, his program, the music, the aura of a warrior and strong presence ... I was totally hypnotized by it. Best masterpiece I've ever seen in figure skating!!!!!
Same here! Honestly before Yuzuru’s Seimei program I wasn’t really his fan (I stanned ladies skaters more 🤪） and since his seimei in 2015, I just couldn’t take my eyes off him and then started stanning the male skaters more and more 🤭🤭😃😃😃

(only speaking based o what ive seen in a lot of male fs lineups so forgive the generalization) if anything im so thankful yuzuru wears costumes that are like performances on their own.... so unique and eye-catching, as well as EXPRESSIVE. ive seen some really bland looking (mens really, women have gr8 costumes mostly) fits so its just one of the million things i really admire about yuzuru: his image on ice. wearing crystals and sparkly stuff with colors and OWNING it
Absolutely love his beaded outfits ... suites him perfectly .... I think he started a whole new fashion trend for men's figure skating costumes ... its mesmerising to watch and he is absolutely exquisite on the ice!!!

I love all of his costumes, Satomi Ito is a genius! The thing is with Yuzu's costumes that other skaters couldn't pull them on. He makes these costumes of his own, just like he does the same same things with ice rinks. I am sure lot of male skaters would cringe so hard if they had to wear the swanyu for example but Yuzu is full of grace and confidence while wearing it. Just the same with his rock programs, find an another skater who would rock as hard as Yuzu in lmey costume. Also the fact that he basically arrives to Satomi with a clear idea and details about the new costumes, she just makes it real.....
( i am sucker for classical programs so i am one of those few people who wanna him to get a new sp...so if he does i can't wait for the costume:))
His costume tells the story of what he is performing. The every costume he wears in his performance was so fascinated and he wears it perfectly. He stands with an aura and looks like a Prince on the Ice..The impact was crazy..
Yuzuru is so invested in EVERY detail; music, moves, blades, costume, Talking about weight, and resistance shows how detailed Yuzuru is in his thanking. Amazing perfectionist he is!
My favorite = Yuzu's laugh during his costume fitting! Hahaha so cute!
As for the costumes, honestly I think they are all good. Can't find any other skater who's put so much thought into these costumes! Love them all.
