There's already a precedent for that way before kawaii, and its also Hololive. They let the Hololive China members keep their avatars iirc, although the talents left the avatars behind anyway because of the angry fans targetting them. Not to mention Mikeneko pretty much made an avatar thats a carbon copy of her Hololive one. Even if Hololive has since updated their rules about the avatar ownership the talents already have connections with their mamas and they'd pretty much get an alternative avatar that looks and feels pretty much the same.
