Elemental only does well with up to 6 mobs at a time, which is not even guaranteed because LMT can often apply FS to a mob that already has FS on it. If they talent into AoE for M+, their boss damage is horrid. If they talent into a cleave, they're doing okay on bosses and worse on packs. If they talent into single target, they can be on par with some of the highest DPS specs, but they have no AoE worth mentioning. On my lower ilvl Ret, I still outperform my Ele easily, in any situation, no matter my loadout. All because Ele has no synergy, focuses on one type of build with tier sets, and hasn't really been touched since before SL. The 50% buff to Earthquake was pointless, since most builds don't even use it because the damage is so low. It's only really useful if you take Tumultuous Fissures which increases the chance of knockdown interrupts by 3%. On my Ret Pally, both AoE and ST builds play very similarly. To the point where the only real difference during combat (from player perspective only, as I know there are numerous talent differences), is just swapping Final Reckoning for Execution Sentence on my action bar. I still have great ST and AoE no matter which build I'm in. It's the passive abilities that really make the loadout more effective in differing situations. Elemental has stuck with the "active" abilities for too long, by contrast. The gameplay shifts wildly. Flame Shock should be spread by other abilities besides LMT and PW. Chain Lightning should be Elemental's AoE ability, NOT Flame Shock + meatballs. Someone made the suggestion to have FS be spread by CL, which would be amazing, to be honest, but if CL was the main AoE ability, then it wouldn't even need to be spread. Remove the CD from FS and shorten LMT CD significantly to 10 seconds, but only have it apply FS to up to 5 mobs and do no other damage. That would help with cleave builds. There are so many good ideas floating around in relation to Elemental Shaman, but the developers completely ignore everything and just give a stupid 3% buff across the board.

Why do you even ask anymore? Blizzard does not do balance. The reasons for the tuning they make are not based on performance. If that was the case why would they have buffed ret last time? Why would fire be op for the umpteenth patch if they cared about balance. Truth is they dont care in the least. What ever way they choose to make changes is simply not based on facts and player experience. Still curious what it is based on because we can certainly rule out anything based in reality.
Raid wise, all dps are within 2-4% of each other. Only place they aren’t close is m+. And they only balance as per the raid so… they’re balancing perfectly according to their own rules 😂
the reason specs like Frost DK and Affliction Lock are performing poorly are design issues rather than something you can fix with flat% buffs on a Tuesday. The dataset you're also tabbing to and from throughout the video has a couple nuances like target count, spec popularity, and utility that make it difficult to interpret from a balancing perspective. Likely, 1. blizzard has their own, more accurate collection of data and 2. are saving larger reworks for specs like Frost and Affli for later dates especially when they've never been very popular even when they perform well.
And specs stay popular because they are poorly tuned, nope quite the opposite, mage is always op in one at least one of the specs often usually in raid and m+. Then you try to justify the incompetence with there not popular specs. Then delete them if they have no point. Some specs have been ignored for a decade and by your logic that was perfectly OK because they weren't played.... Make feral op and surprise surprise we end up with a massive explosion of cats.

this isnt my take on how blizzard should approach tuning. it was commentary about blizzards thought process for tuning. sub rogue is incredibly op on single target rn and sits at #7 most logged despite this, being beaten out by multiple specs that perform worse than them. some specs obviously just dont get the same attention from the playerbase and blizzard knows that. sorry@@Jenkyllllls

How did you not quit during season 3-4 SL where warlock and hunter were dumb broken. Every patch I hear people talk about this but there’s only like 1-2 subclasses that are ‘unplayable’ and even they can still clear all content.
