Native Tulsan here. Thanks for coming out and seeing the town. I have some people I worked with and schoolmates in the film (Spatula City sprint and Stanley's Clubhouse audience). I pass a few of the locations weekly and point out to my kids a movie was filmed there. I usually get the typical teenage "Oh...".

UHF was my first feature film I was ever in and as an extra. It was filmed during the summer of 1988 and released in 89. I have a lot of behind the scenes pictures on my time on set. I started in Television when I was 17 still in high school but UHF was my first taste into Feature films. Now to 2024 I have been in dozens of TV shows and Feature films and hundreds of TV commercials as a principal actor. I was living by the Galleria Mall it was called at the time at 71st and Lewis and several of the sets were built in the vacant store shops inside the mall. The television station UHF was a façade front built at the radio station KRAV's transmitter site. The facade front only consisted of the fake walls held up in the back by supports. The cinder block walls was only Masonite board made to look like cinder blocks. The satellite dish and air conditioning units that you see on the roof was only sitting scaffolding behind the walls. The stairs, sidewalk and patio area was plywood covered with a skim layer of concrete. The vines were plastic and stapled to the wall. The power meter box was also fake. The lighting for the night time telethon scenes was done with Huge lights high up in a sky crane. During the fireworks at the end of the movie, that was done with multi colored lights on tree stands flashing on all us extras. I have some of the fake money and stocks used at the end of the movie during the telethon. KRAV's transmitter tower is the one used as the UHF tv tower in the film. Later I became friends with Gray Fredrickson who was the executive producer of UHF, The Godfather, 1941, Bulletproof and many others. He was the film instructor at the Oklahoma City Community college until he sadly passed away of cancer in 2022. It was a great movie and a lot of fun to be apart of. Thank You for your video and research finding all the filming locations and for bringing back so many fond memories from years ago.

Great video! Proud to say, I discovered Al on an old radio show called Mad Trax when aired Sunday mornings back in 1983 on Chattanooga's Rock 105 fm. They played his latest hit, "Stop Draggin' My Car Around." That was the first song I heard by the great Mr. Yankovic. He gained a new life long fan that Sunday morning. I got his first cassette tape and collected each album as they were released after that. When UHF came out, oh yes, I wasn't going to just watch it. I bought it! It was love at first watch. This is the first filming locations video I have seen for this movie. You guys did an awesome job in finding these locations, but also acting the scenes out. Thank you for taking us with you on your journey. 😀

UHF is a national treasure dang it! 😂 Saw it a few times back in 89' as all I did the whole summer was sneak into different movies all day to keep out of trouble and the Texas heat. I love the fact that you can share the nostalgia with your family. Bout to watch it later today with my son. 🤔 I coulda sworn he seen it already but he hasn't. I'm so stoopid!!!!😂

Ha! Trip down memory lane! I grew up in Tulsa and was an extra in UHF. I have yet to spot myself in the movie, but I was part of the Spatula City commercial and in the audience for Stanley's Clubhouse. Also walked through the sets for Wheel of Fish and a few others. A lot of the interior sets, including the Clubhouse and Wheel of Fish were filmed at the Kensington Galleria Mall, which is now an office complex. Right on the corner of 71st and Wheeling in Tulsa.

I still live in Tulsa and I can remember one day driving around in my car listening to the local rock station on the radio when they were filming UHF in the area. The DJ called out for anyone with a 4 wheel drive truck who wanted to be in a movie and said they just needed to show up at an address that night so they could film a scene. I had a car at the time so didn't go. 🤷‍♂
