I was thinking this EXACT thing. The light, bland wood attributes to the cheap look. Everything wrong with the studio can be easily fixed. Sit the guest at the table, lacquer the wood a bit darker, get rid of the yellow, and give each person their own (dim) ceiling spot light of warm light. So everyone is lit well but the studio keeps the comfy dark vibe.

It seems weird visually, sure, but if you want a guest to feel comfortable which leads to more uninhibited conversation, put them on a couch 100%..besides most people are listening to this and not watching it. It is a primarily audible product, and a secondary visual product; and this studio setup facilitates the primary. And they dont make desks conducive to running a podcast with 2 hosts, comfortably, that are as low sitting as a couch.
Whatever makes everyone in studio the most comfortable so that free flowing hilarious conservation I'm used to continues. I don't think add the audience we have enough information to really have an opinion.

So instead of just shitting on the new studio, I figured I'd give my 2 cents on how it could be improved, relatively easily. First, the yellow has to go, pick a dark color that'll meld well with that wine red you've got going on, the red looks good. The wood was a solid move, but the shade and grain makes it look cheap, putting some darker lacquer and finish on all the wood would radically change the mood of the furniture. Dimming the lights was a solid move, but at the cost of video quality, putting individual spot lights on each person with a warm, dimmer light would improve the quality while not sacrificing the comfy feel of the darker studio. The last point might be more difficult to do, but the guest needs to be at the table with the mommies, it feels awkward to watch people having a conversation from across the room. Hope this helps rather than just shitting all over the studio timbo and christjeansus worked hard for.

The bell curve on the highs needs to be widened and the mids (specifically low mids) should be notched out a bit ... Gain in the vocals should be readjusted after tweaking the EQ. Then the Mix should be adjusted so that the Mics are Balanced with the media...

@@Bhrok3n Gain and EQ are two different things... I am specifically talking about EQ when I speak about the highs in the vocals. They could also use better compression, but that is a different story. The bell curve on the highs needs to be widened and the mids (specifically low mids) should be notched out a bit ... Gain in the vocals should be readjusted after tweaking the EQ. Then the Mix should be adjusted so that the Mics are Balanced with the media...

Ever since you guys moved to this fabulous new studio I've noticed that sometimes when Tom is talking his voice will lower in volume to a point where you can't tell what he is saying. After watching this on youtube I believe it may be when he turns his head toward Christina (and his voice isnt going toward the mic). Maybe you guys could figure out a solution.
