If you want to know all about Kurt Cobain don't go to his house he lived in very briefly after he became rich and famous visit the house where most of their songs were written. Go to 114 Pear Street in Olympia, Washington. That house is so famous with Nirvana. On the walls they spray painted the words 'Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit" after Kurt had been sprayed with a bottle of women's deodorant entitled "Teen Spirit." Everybody always makes the mistake and goes to Seattle when they need to go to Olympia and Aberdeen. that's where it all took place.
"That house is so infamous with Nirvana." INFAMOUS? Really? Please learn the definition before you misuse it again. And Teen Spirit wasn't a perfume, but rather a deodorant.
I think it is very sweet & rather moving that these two guys have gone out of their way to pay homage to Kurt Cobain by visiting his house, writing a message to him on the bench and making a very decent video of their trip.. Good on yer guys ! Paying your respect to a musician who touched so many hearts & gave so much happiness to millions who just loved his music so much.. Take care guys & thanx so much for posting this..bugger the criticisms dished out by some comments here, you did good RXX
I really want to go to Seattle. Me and my dad wanna go so bad, I'm only 13. I fucking love grunge! My favorite song by Nirvana too! Serve the servants.
If he wasn't on drugs and he didn't marry Courtney, he could have lived happily at last in that nice house, composing songs according to his own liking, working on side projects with people like Michael Stipe. But drug abuse and a bad marriage turns even heaven into hell. Behind those doors, there surely was nothing but despair.
@Waitingforriki Thanks mate. Kurt's music has given me so much, and my brother (the other guy in the video) thankfully shares my passion. This was something we both really wanted to do and when the opportunity came to go to the US, this visit to his house was a must for us.
I went to see his house a few years ago on the first day I came into Washington. Totally unprepared we asked a barista at Starbucks for directions and were only able to find it because there wasn't a fire number. It was one of the best days of my life by far. My only regret is I didn't have anything to write on the bench with next time I go I'll be sure to bring a Sharpie! Thank you for the video! It was great to remember the journey there!
i wish i had the opportunity to go there...anyways,hope you guys had a great time,i actually plan on going there in a few years, and most of all, thank you for uploading this,it was very touching,i almost cried when you filmed the bench and the tree...take care!!!!
I'm really sorry too! He came to my house 1 night & spent the night.I wish he had stayed b/c no one would've found him there. When he left,he stole my nevermind cd.What does that tell ya?He didn't want anyone to have it,poor guy.He was so beautiful physically. Those blue eyes & that red hair. That's 1 night I'll never forget! He actually drove me home just so I would get home safely & he didn't even know me.I'm gonna cry..His was a heart of pure gold! He so deserved peace. He was so sweet to me!
"A RICH MAN MUST KILL HIS HEART TO STAY THAT WAY" - I hope the guy writing on the bench quoted this. The best part of the video, though, the fact that you used a lesser known song rather than some stupid, obvious tune like Smells Like Teen Spirit; thanx for that!!
Some people just can't remember song names. Especially every song by a band. I'm a HUGE Gorillaz fan. and I still find songs I don't know (mind you they are leaked unreleased songs that didn't make the cut on the albums LOL)
@MrJennifer1219 The Green Tortoise Hostel is in the centre of Seattle, right near the famous markets with all the buskers (they're also worth a visit.) I recommend the Hostel to anyone who wants to stay in seattle, I've done a lot of backpacking and it's one of the best I've stayed at, pretty cheap too. We walked to the house (as you can see from the video) from the hostel. It took us about an hour and a half to walk, there are also buses that go there - the hostel staff can tell you about it.
I BLOODY LIVE ALL THE WAY IN AUSTRALIA i sooo wanna see his house!!! im gonna do a whole kurt tour after yr 12 start of at aberdeen then montesano, olympia and finally seatle!!!
@@annetcobain Unfortunately no, Nirvana was huge but in my opinion indie huge in Seattle while he was alive (my childhood recollection) but with "grunge" music becoming increasingly popular along with other bands Seattle became known for 3 things (Coffee, Rain, Nirvana) by outsiders which irritated me back 90's & early 2000's. I liked the radio songs at that time but i wasn't a true fan to be honest. When i saw them on MTV unplugged then i truly started appreciated them!
Well, they do that because they HAVE to because fans steal the bench regurlarly! Someone ownes the original bench where Kurt wrote his lyrics on. That's awesome, to have that bench standing in your room. On the other hand it's a shame all the other fans can't see the real bench anymore.
@FrozenCrewGr, You think it's a nice house? Well, it is, but it's not even close to as nice as the other homes in Seattle near Kurt's house. His home sold for $4,556,900.00 when Courtney Love sold it. His neighbor a few homes away though, sold their home for $26,999,999.00
Sorry, I can't remember. We walked from Seattle downtown, its pretty easy to find but it took about an hour. Maybe try Googling it? Good luck - its an awesome experience :)
Haha! Good advice mate :) As I said before, this video was made and uploaded for my family and friends. No one else would be interested in seeing us just walking around Seattle, click away, the blue numbers are there for all!!
My exes Aunt now lives in Seattle, her husband is from there, and of course every single person he knows used to hang out with Kurt Cobain, which roughly translates into, they never met him but their lives are sad and empty and they need some attention.
Someday, when I´m not afraid about flying in airplanes, A place I would like to visit is Seattle, and of course, ¨Kurt´s¨ house. Is Aberdeen too far from Seattle?
The Gaming Mack V hey if the owners didn't want to be bothered with people, they shouldn't have bought such a historical house. Obviously they had money to pick any kinda house they wanted lol.
@axllovesslash I'm pleased indeed you love being from Seattle.. I love living in Manchester, England..two cities with great musical heritage, I'm sure you agree. Peace Rx
on the left side of that bench the word "KURT" is written on the 4 ends of the pieces of wood I always thoguht that was cool. you cant see it in this vid but it is in some other vid on youtbue l:P
Como eu queria(sonho com isso) conhecer Seattle!! Parabéns belo vídeo essa cidade lançou grandes bandas que são as minhas favoritas Alice in Chains e Nirvana!!
@ironmaiden12341 I forget the address now.. we stayed in the Green Tortoise hostel, the staf in there gave us really good directions. Awesome free breakfast in that hostel too.. brownies, fresh fruit, waffles..
Replying to a youtube comment 9 years later is strange for me but since i live in Seattle i figured i would - Green Tortoise, Seattle's Best Hostel, www.greentortoise.net/ I believe this building will be demolished sooner or later depending on covid-19 economic issue but i usually only see homeless people hanging around, i thought it was a shelter until i googled the address.
Serve the servants is such a good song
Caden Hufstetler yes it sure is. Like an opening to a new chapter.

You are right !
teen spirit is actually a deoderent that his ex girlfriend wore.
"That house is so infamous with Nirvana." INFAMOUS? Really? Please learn the definition before you misuse it again. And Teen Spirit wasn't a perfume, but rather a deodorant.
There's where he died, that's why people go there
This really moved me, and brought tears to my eyes. One of my life goals to make it to that bench and pay my respects to my inspiration.

well, watching the video, i thought of them as two loafers killing the time..

My favorite song by Nirvana too! Serve the servants.
I lived there for the first 14 years of my life. It sucks.

But drug abuse and a bad marriage turns even heaven into hell. Behind those doors, there surely was nothing but despair.
Terbie36 He was still depressed though. that was a big cause. But also it's not proved to be a suicide.
He was going to leave Nirvana tho. And spend mord time with Frances. Courtney got him and his money to quickly tho.

The house probably went way up in value after his death...
