I'm imagining leaving the googly eyes unpainted and this is making me giggle
The real pro tip
Watching you ply your trade by skillfully making an artifact from your imagination , it's like candy for the brain. Always a delight. A succinct set of instructions.
Wow, thank you so much!
Now imagining how awesome a full set of leather armor designed by you would be 🤔
Did anyone else stop watching her at 2:00 to watch the people walking about outside? LOL
The perils of filming against a street-facing window lol
This is SO HELPFUL!!! I'd love to see you do more videos like this in the future of just going over different techniques. It's nice to see something that you could apply to various different projects.
Thank you! I'm working on another one about a specific technique so I'm glad people are liking this idea
amazing job , KUDOS on your not only on how well you work EVA, but how good you paint the prop
When those pieces of the pauldron came together, hot DAMN that was satisfying to watch
Thank you!~
Awesome idea ironing the foil on the foam. Very cunning!😮
This is so helpful! Can't wait to try these techniques on my next foam project! Thank you for sharing!
This was SO cool and I can’t wait to use these techniques!!
So inspiring! Thank you!
Looks awesome. Thx for the tutorial!
Wow Isa, that is a very accurate and beautiful "Cassandra" armour! I'm making this as a 1/6 scale figure a.t.m. and came upon your video as i was searching for leather painting tips. Would love to see how this piece of art came together!
Thank you for this 🙏🏽😊
looks so realistic
Love it, thanks for sharing. I especially like how you showed the pattern process too and how you weathered the leather cord to match everything you made
This was great! I would love to see that armor patterning video
It looks gorgeous! Thanks for the inspiration, I'll definitely use this in... my second foam leather armor trial xP
Very nice. Thank you!
OMG… I think this is the best thing I’ve watched in years!
I’m going to binge watch the rest of your vids now….lol.
❤❤❤❤😊
Awesome video. It’s impressive how it all comes together and really sells the look.
Googly eyes! Here I am looking at actual rivets like a fool. Perhaps save those for my actual leather pieces 😅
Perfect and useful ,thanks👏👏👏
So much great advice in here and the video is easy to follow and understand.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Love the skill and creativity to turn something into a thing that looks so natural amazing job learnt a lot thank you
Thank you so much!
Great job 👍
Thanks for this! I am just dipping my toe into foam crafting and your videos are a great resource. Excellent work!
Thank you for watching! I'm so glad you've found it helpful
Holy moly im glad I found you ! Going to use this exact thing for my LARP character
I'm glad you found it useful! :>
Thank you sooo much! Fantastic job! I think it would be very helpful if you add a list of materials used in this video. Thank you😍
This is incredible. Thank you so much.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
I just started making costumes, this is very helpful, Thanks!
I'm so glad!
Aluminum foil?!?! Genius!!! Amazing final piece and phenomenal tutorial
Thanks so much!
This is so useful - thank you for making this!
Would recommend using a dark base colour paint if you're making armour that's meant to look silver/a lighter shade?
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Having a dark base for a metallic colour is great because when you dry brush on top of it, it gives more depth to the paintjob :>
Do you have the molds to print? It's amazing, thank you for the tutorial!
Dear God - that cosplay is amazing!
Thank you!
😲 that's beautiful
Thanks!
Amazing video! And i love the tattoo on your wrist too
Thank you! :>>
Also…. Can you please show us how to make a mask torso of ourselves? Thank you. ☺️
Just came across this video and enjoyed it so much! It’s crazy how real the pauldron looks! I just had a question regarding a black leather look. Instead of going for brown shades when painting, would you suggest variations of greys and blacks to add the dimension? Im new into making cosplay so just looking for any helpful tips :)
Hey, thank you so much! Variations of grey and white should work, yes! You could also experiment with a few darker blue or brown shades too to variation if you find you need it
Thanks so much for this! One question is, what sealant did you use? I can’t find any clear ones
CRUMPLED TINFOIL! who knew?! Mind officially blown
Fantastic and very informative video, you've gained another subscriber 😊... Do the googly eyes not rattle somewhat? 👀😂
Oh my gosh thank you so much! This is gonna be so handy for future projects so I’ve added it to my faves. Just a quick question, did you seal the paint work at the end?
Hell yeah! I can't wait to see what you make. And yes I did!
This is so helpful! Any chance you could do a video on your pauldron drafting method?
Thanks, glad it was useful! If you wanna check out m patterning methods, watch part 1 of the Ares cosplay series. I draft breastplate and pauldron patterns in that :> th-cam.com/video/kn9ZYUhJXv0/w-d-xo.html
I think my girlfriend said "she's so cool" more time s that I could count while watching this. And I want to say that I would also like to see a more in depth armor patterning video as well! Keep up the great work!
Holy shit this tutorial is so helpful
I've always been intimidated by foam armor, but this really helped make it seem a lot more approachable
Thank you! I'm so glad you found it helpful. Hope you make some cool stuff :>
@@EvilCleverDog You're welcome! Haha, I'll try!
Nice stuff! Can't wait to see more! :D
Thanks dude!
Wow tin foil?! Never thought of that! Also omg your Kassandra cosplay is * chefs kiss 👌 subbing just for that perfection!
Thank you so much!!
Yes please on the pattern making!!!
I'm working on a video now that will feature armour pattern making! Hopefully it should be the next video I upload
You have just helped me figures out how to make the "leather" parts of my Mando costume! By the way, are those left handed scissors or are you just making regular scissors work for you?
Oh damn, awesome! Good luck with your costume~
I actually can't remember if they're leftie scissors as I've had them for so long, but I don't think they are
Wow, I just became her 3k subscriber!
I don't know what you do but you're a nice sight 🥰
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Super tutorial, thank you so much! I have a question, how did you make the impression of your body? That's awesome!
Thank you! I had a friend help me make the duct tape mannequin - I wore a sacrificial form fitting T-shirt. Then we wrapped me in clingfilm and duct tape, and my friend drew on seam lines, then cut me out of the wrapping and the shirt. Then we taped off the neck and arm holes, filled the hollow tape out with newspaper to fill it back out, taped up the bottom, and I had a mannequin of roughly my dimensions!
Your paint job is out of this world! One question would be what is the brand of flexible filler you used for hiding the seams????
Thank you so much! I think at this point I was still using a flexible bathroom filler from B&Q - now I'm also trying out PolyProps' one which is specifically made for prop and armour making
The googly eyes as rivets is SO SMART!!
Thanks!
How do you strengthen the foam from ripping when you put holes in it closer to the edge? Thanks for the tutorial. So helpful.
Thanks! If you needed them near the edge you could try priming or sealing the foam with something that will make it more rigid. I've not used them myself, but I know some people use brush on resins which make a hard coat over foam. Or you could reinforce those areas with some worbla loops around the hole. Superglue can also strengthen foam a bit and make it more rigid. It depends on what you're doing. If the hole needs to support something, like have an attachment piece looped through it, I'd recommend making it as sturdy as possible. But for purely decorative things, you don't need as much support.
The googly eyes caught me so off guard, but this piece is beautiful!!
+1 for armour patterning video babeeeyyyyyyyy
wait wait the rivets are GOOGLY EYES?!?
Having trouble finding good "contact cement" in the UK. Which adhesive do you use?
I use Alpha Thixofix. You can buy it on Amazon or at most DIY shops. Another option is Impact/Evo-Stik, which tends to be runnier in consistency. I find I have more control with Thixofix, but Impact is good for large surface areas.
Fantastic tutorial! I'm making my first pair of leather-look bracers out of foam right now. I want to close it with lacing but the foam isn't strong enough. Any tips for using practical lacing in eva foam armor?
I've not done that before myself, but you could try reinforcing those areas of the foam from the back with faux leather or another strong fabric? Or maybe worbla? I'd recommend not having the foam take all the weight/strain on its own! If you can have it close with velcro or something but LOOK like it's properly laced, that might be another option? Good luck!
@@EvilCleverDog thanks for the ideas! I was also thinking of using eyelets, attaching speed hooks, or bending wire to create tabs for lacing... So many possibilities.
@@cagecluff7675 Ooh yeah, I don't know if you can attach eyelets to foam but I feel like I've seen someone do it before! Might be a good shout
WOOW~👍 👍
How beautiful~👏 👏 South korea 🇰🇷
ya hoo~👄
Another amazing and informative video! Great job!
-NGSMOOV, Randall
Thanks bud!!
May I ask where is the best place to buy the foam? (in europe).
Of course! I buy my foam from Poly Props (based in the UK) www.poly-props.com
Amazing work, could you do a video on how you did the breastplate? Your Cassandra is by far the best I've seen.
Thank you! I made this cosplay long before I was making tutorials so I don't have any footage of it sadly. But if you're curious about making breastplates, I do have a video where I made the breastplate for my Ares cosplay! th-cam.com/video/kn9ZYUhJXv0/w-d-xo.html
You should give real leather a try. Im sure you'd be just as good with leather as you are with foam
I have mild Sinistrophobia. Your video was 10/10 until I noticed. Now it is only 8/10. I would have gave you one digit higher but i also suffer from Imparnumerophobia
Love your work and learning lots BUT please leave out the repetitive royalty free music. It feels like I’m on the phone with the world’s worst bank.
