This video has been what's helping me sleep this past week, it has great replayability because I keep falling asleep halfway through lol. Thank you so much for putting this out - also love your other asmr videos, particularly the retro gaming ones❤️
I LOVE seeing vintage gaming art! Well really anything nostalgic to do with gaming is always so good to listen to and watch ✨👌🏼 I wish I had gotten into dungeons and dragons when I was a kid, I’d love to hopefully be able to play it someday with a good group of friends Thankyou for sharing these treasures with us!
Yesss the vintage art is so much fun! Such a vibe. I love discovering these things secondhand and just paging through to see what wacky art they contain!
Haha yeah, it just coincidentally happened that the sponsor sent the dice and the Patrons/Members voted for this topic right around the same time! D&D can be a ton of fun with the right group, especially if you're all willing to push your comfort zone a bit and really get into the story and roleplay. It can also feel slow and awkward at first, but you eventually get the hang of it! The stories you tell with TTRPGs like D&D are so fun because they're personalized and open-ended in a way that video games still haven't been able to replicate.
@@jordanenglish883 I played just a little bit of it this week. i wanna wait for the full release before i play it, but i couldn't resist trying it out a little
@@babydollface it’s seriously amazing. I dumped 25+ hours into the EA, and that’s only for Act 1. Can’t wait for the full release. The best part is being able to play with friends
Nick my entire childhood and teen years came flooding back to me from this video. I am a product of A D and D and 2nd Edition, which i consider the best version of the game, I had many of these same books when they were in their prime. So many countless hours and adventures. So many good memories. This game led me to my work in film in visual fx. Love this game soo much
Absolutely, that's exactly how I use them! Fantastic inspiration, and really fun to just page through and see what wacky stuff there is. FB Marketplace has them around where I live, but they tend to be priced like ebay, so it's not a great deal. I tend to find the best deals in thrift stores, but occasionally you get a good score on FB.
oh man I wish I had held onto my old 2nd Ed. stuff, if I had known how popular the game would become I couldve all of it as a showoff piece or sold them to a collector or something lol. Crazy to think how huge it is now back when it was something you and a few friends did in your rooms or basements and pretty much told no one about lest you be socially outcast.
Hindsight is always like that, isn't it? So many things from my childhood that I wish I'd held onto. 😔 But how were we to know that being a nerd would eventually become cool??
Certified first indeed, by a hair! 🥇 If you enjoy fantasy fiction, I strongly encourage you to check out D&D or other similar tabletop roleplaying games with a group of friends! It can feel intimidating, clunky, and slow at first as you learn the rules, but once you get the hang of it there's nothing else like it. You can play in person or online, both ways are fun!
Lolz, I still have my original mods. And ffs don't read "The Forest Oracle", you may make everyone dumber by reciting it. Perhaps the worst written and edited module ever.
I really love the art of questionable quality in these old adventures, it's such a vibe.
I'll take it over the MMO concept art style we've gotten since late 3.x
I couldn't agree more haha, what a perfect way to put it.
The ASMR has been exceptionally nerdy these last few videos, absolutely love it. Very interesting and then very relaxing and then 😴
I do my best to bring the nerdy tingles to y'all, and I'm glad you've been digging it lately! Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for watching :D

Second DnD video in a row, might have to look into that game, never played it 🤔

These videos are amazing as a D&D fan, love these.
So glad you enjoyed it! More to come :D
Hey Nick can we get another dnd book video??? Love your work man!!!❤
I don't even care that much about D&D, but I thoroughly enjoyed this trip through history.
Are y'all looking forward to Baldur's Gate 3? I can't wait for it!
Heck yeah! You'll very likely see some content on the channel with it :)
@@theASMRnerd oh, fun! 😄
So stoked for the full release. Did you play Early Access?

That's so rad that the game inspired you to pursue the career you have now! And I'm glad the video brought back some good memories for you :)
I bought a bunch of these on FB marketplace a few years ago, they’re pretty great for getting inspiration as a dm

Yes! Please do more D&D stuff!!
I most certainly will! :D
Wonderful job as always Nick!
Thank you!! 😊
I had no idea Gary lived 35-40 minutes from me until 2008. A town I often frequented/visited. Small world 🌎
That's very cool! Does the town to anything to acknowledge his legacy?
More DnD content pleeeeease! I loved this!
Definitely more to come! :D
This kinda thing is just fun to flip thru, whether you play or not. Fantasy art pre 2000's was more fun.
100% agreed!
What changed in fantasy art at the turn of the century?
@@amysticmind2645 to me it got more monotonous, especially since wizards bought tsr. All the art is similiar now.
Very relaxing as always!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Awesome video as always!
Thank you Nick. Such tingles - as always. You're the best! ❤
I'm glad it did the trick for you and helped you relax! Thanks for watching 😊
Amazing channel!
Great idea , even greater video 🙌
Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D
I had no idea DnD was out in the 70s. I knew it was around in the 80s, but I always assumed it came FROM the 80s.
Yeah, it has its roots in the early 70's! I found out a while ago that my dad used to play it back in the late 70's with some friends, I had no idea!
16:43 what's the 2010 on cover was it reprinted in 2010 and ment to be retro looking?
It's definitely and old book, I think those numbers on the front are just product codes.

never played dnd but today i started reading possibly the biggest fantasy series ever "malazan" which is based from a dnd game
also first i hope?

try Baldur’s gate 3 when it comes out next week! it’s a great intro to 5e concepts and DnD in general.
Very Cool 😎 ❤
Have you read "Of Dice and Men"? I believe thats the name of it
I haven't! I know there's some juicy drama from the early days of TSR and D&D, though. Is that what it's about?
@@theASMRnerd its a bit of the history, some of the drama, a thoroughly enjoyable read.
Nice video idea, hope ur doin well ☺️
Thanks! I'm doing great, hope you are too!
Rumour 10 - '”Bree-Yark” is goblin-language for “ASMR”! (f)
