Easiest way to start hating Kickstart My Heart is to try learning it on Rocksmith 2014. Bonus points if doing so on an old guitar that barely functions, or worse, in a household that includes a cat so irritating you wrote a whole novel immortalising what an obnoxious pricks he is.

When the game starts, when you play as kid Star Lord, I LOVED how you can listen to the cassette of the Metal band they made up for the game and made 12 songs (from my memory), and you can listen to all of it. A reason why video game characters rarely look like their movie counterparts is that actors own their likenesses. Disney/Marvel may own the character Star Lord, but they don't own Chris Pratt's face. For them to make their in-game character look like him, they'd have to get a separate licensing deal with Chris Pratt (and pay him for it). Then they have to do it with the rest of the cast. Also, the deals don't last forever unless you pay for a lifetime licensing deal which is very expensive, especially with an A-list celebrity. With games sold digitally now and able to essentially be sold indefinitely, that can lead to tricky problems when the deal needs to be renewed, and the celebrity asks for more money or says no.

When the "remastered" edition comes out with higher res graphics in an estimated 5-7 years, they'll do what they did for GTA games: license new (cheaper) songs and strip the old ones out. Luckily, the PC version will have a mod that puts the original songs back in.

They know the games are based on the comics, if its a movie game like wolverine origins its a diffrent story but nobody ever said oh why does Spiderman not look like tom holland and sounds like him. Do you really want that? MGoG was one of the best linear narrative type gaming experiences I've had in quite a while. I mean I actually replayed it! And that never happens with this kind of game, like why would I - I already know what's gonna happen so I just get bored.
But here the combat and the characters dragged me back in.
And there isn't even any nostalgia element - sure the music is nice but I am from a completely different part of the world and haven't even ever heard about most songs and bands that they included.
Also, thank god they didn't use the same cast or same character design as in the movies. It would have been just... bad. I can't even describe it properly but the idea itself revolts me. If they were exactly the same characters as in the movies then the backstories wouldn't work and if those were reused then the whole thing would have been... stale...

The characterizations are clearly MCU inspired though. As is the use of music, although they switched from 70's rock to 80's pop.

As a casual opinion: I have a massive love hate relationship with this game.
On the one hand, I really hate how boring most of the game is. He's not kidding when he says most of the game is walking between action set pieces. You'll spend 30-45 minutes walking to the next battle just listening to banter if you play somewhat similar to me, looking for new costumes and trying to hear the full banter line before quickly moving on before the next banter line starts (I love listening to dialogue in games, but this game genuinely has infinite lines per area, and if you wait for a split second in an area after banter stops... they'll start talking again). And the plot against Raker is just super boring. Seeing Knowhere and talking with Cosmo and so much of the game showed off how absolutely bonkers and fun the cosmic Marvel comics can be.... so they when spent the entire game fighting a by-the-book evil church. And the actual combat is fine. It's fun once it gets started, but thats many hours into the game. And the vast majority of enemy designs absolutely SUCK. You fight alien creatures a lot but like half of them are jello cubes or little bouncy ball bugs and its such a waste of opportunity. Plus none of the enemies really encourage any kind of smart play. I played the game on the hardest default setting and breezed through the game, I only died once to the final boss. Like I feel like the enemies couldve had a unique set of weaknesses that your TEAM can exploit. The way the weakness system actually works felt like it wasnt enough.
But with all that being said... I ADORE the character writing. I think all of the banter is EXCELLENT. Let me make something clear, Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favorite movies, full stop. I love that charm and the witt. By contrast, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is one of my LEAST favorite Marvel movies (recently it's crown was stolen by Eternals for worst MCU movie for me). The humor in GotG2 is so forced and it's painfully unfunny, which is made all the worse by the fact that every joke has 10-15 seconds of being rubbed in. See Taserface, his name being revealed was a solid setup for a small joke of how dumb it sounded, but instead it becomes this minute long ordeal of them rubbing in how stupid of a name it is and it just gets me so irritated. -Anyway, I was really hesitant buying this game because I was worried that it would be aping the more successful GotG2. Well it's absolutely not. It feels way more in line with the first movie and I absolutely love it. It's so absolutely charming and they nailed that broken family aesthetic. And there are some good parts of the plot. There are some serious emotional scenes that made me feel things deep down and I think they were extremely well executed. And there's actually a genuine plot twist that I didn't see coming and I feel like I felt the pain that the characters all felt when it was revealed. Excellently done. And I'd love to spend more time in this world and with these characters in a sequel.
A sequel with a more outrageous plot, and significantly improved gameplay.
P.S. I bought the digital deluxe edition because I wanted the soundtrack. It doesn't include the licensed songs... so... Don't do that.

I think the only thing I personally disagree with Yahtzee on is the guardians not having their likenesses from the movies.
I personally feel like the detachment from their counterparts, and having a closer to the comic book accurate style worked wonders for this game. I think I was able to connect with the characters a lot more, and I ended up having a bit more of an emotional and fun ride with them, even though I absolutely love their movie counterparts.
That being said I was happy that you could grab costumes for everybody around the maps, and I definitely collected their movie costumes just for the fun of it.
I personally recommend this game even at full price, even though I bought it at around $50, and if full price is a bit too sleep, then I definitely recommend it when it goes on sale likely around the holidays this year. It's only about 22 hours long, but it's some of the most fun that I've had with the AAA video game this year, and I would be remiss to let others miss out on it.
My personal game recommendations this year (based on what I've played):
    Psychonauts 2
    Persona 5 Strikers
    The Artful Escape
    Guardians of the Galaxy
    Deathloop
