      True - it takes time to learn the new system and get familiar with and develop chemistry with new teammates. Hall is a good guy … I can see him being #2 after a year with Darnold.

    It's smart to let him get a full year of mentorship. We have that luxury, and it'd be foolish to waste it. He's just recently turned 21 years old, so he'd be 22 for the 2025 season. There's no need to rush bringing him along with what we have.

      Does anyone in Minnesota really wanna watch a season with Sam Darnold? No, we don’t. We want JJ McCarthy as our starter and we want a Super Bowl immediately.

  • @jsasa5668
    @jsasa5668 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

    I am very excited to have JJ but I hope Sam performs as expected and doesn't get injured. In order to maximize the benefits of landing in Minnesota and increase the chances for his success JJ should stay back and learn as much and as long as he needs. I trust KOC to do what's best but I hope for Sam to turn his career around here in MN. JJ is very young. No need to rush him in if we don't have to. Jordan Love sat for a while and it served him well, same as Rodgers, Mahomes, etc. Happy to have him! SKOL

    • @jeffmanty6721
      @jeffmanty6721 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sam Darnold failed as a first round draft choice. Do we want to waste any more time? If JJ is ready, I say, let him fly.

    • @jsasa5668
      @jsasa5668 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@jeffmanty6721 Sam failed because he was thrown into the wolves too early (and yes, had a shitty team), which happens often to QBs. Why rush it if we have such a great opportunity for JJ to develop? Most QBs don’t have it. Also, JJ had among the highest time to throw (2.85 seconds), among the lowest pressure to sack rate, yet poor clean pocket passer rating. He had a protection he won’t have here. He’s 21. KOC will decide when he’s ready, but I think the longer he can stay behind Sam the better. Many first round pick QBs get their confidence shut or simply become a “fail” due to not meeting high unrealistic expectations. I’d rather have a Jordan Love in two years (I think he sat 3) who sat for a bit, or a Mahomes who sat almost a year, than a Zach Wilson for a year and having to look for another QB next draft or two.

    I posted this elsewhere but, well I’m old school. Then again I became a Vikings fan in 1968, so what do you expect? Many of you reading this, I’ll bet your parents hadn’t even met in 1968! I submit that J.J. McCarthy would best be brought along slowly. Sit him on the bench for his rookie season while strengthening his body, practicing his passing and improving his passing accuracy. Let him learn how to “read” defenses. In his second season he stands next to the Head Coach with the headset and clipboard AND plays an entire series of down in the second quarter. After he plays those downs he comes off the field and confers with the QB Coach. In his third season he starts the entire second quarter. In his fourth season he starts the entire game. We need to bring him along slowly. We started Christian Ponder as a rookie and look what happened. We started Teddy Bridgewater too quickly and look what happened. The San Diego Chargers started Ryan Leaf as a rookie, where is he now? Remember Johnny Manziel? Let’s not let that happen to J.J. Instead, let’s grow him into a Franchise Quarterback.

    Ever since Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers sat, I feel like sitting a year is best for rookie QBs. Now that the NFL season is 17 games long patience just makes sense. We still have OL questions. Darnold can start while the OL gels. If Darnold can't win, then start JJ MC after the bye. If Darnold is winning, sit JJ. Although I do think the QB room should be Darnold, McCarthy, Hall. I'm done with Mullens.

Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts, Brock Purdy. While they did start some games there Rookie Season. They, weren't forced to start. So, that's what the Vikings need to do give MCcarthy, a year or two to develop; then when he's ready let him tear up this league.

    I think this might be a different situation in that if this doesn't work, it won't cost Kwesi and KOC thier jobs. Here's why.
    The Wilf's brought these two in to put their fingerprint on the team. That means they had to let Cousins walk and find their own QB of the future. Okay, one boxed checked. They let Cousins walk. Even the Wilf's had to be okay with that decision. I think the Wilf's would agree not to hitch their wagon to a 36 year old QB coming off a major injury and give him 100 million. If they had done that and it didn't work, THAT would have cost them their jobs....but not the way things went down...here's why.
    So what now? They had to find their QB of the future. It's not like there we 6 Quarterbacks and they had a free range choice of any of them. literally, they had no choice in the first 4 of them. So, now it came to McCarthy or Bo Nix....They picked McCarthy. It really came down to their picking of those two because they had no access to the other four.
    So, let's say McCarthy doesn't work. I don't think it would cost KOC and Kwasi thier jobs because who else would they have picked? There was literally no other choice except Bo Nix and even the Wilf's probably would agree that McCarthy was the best option. So If McCarthy doesn't work, I think KOC and Kwasi keep their jobs and get another swing at it because this literally was the best they could have done given the options available to them.
