If the Yamaha slide is notoriously soft, it’s probably because the brass has been annealed while silver-brazing in the other part.

A lot of people are just careless with their stuff, it blows my mind. I'd argue that you aren't lucky, but that you aren't careless with your belongings.

One of my favourite tool😀 but it only works for Yamaha trumpets due to nib is silver soldered unto the crook. All other makers are soft solder. Just pointing out to other people. Cheers from kitchener ontario Canada 🇨🇦

I've been contemplating whether or not to contact you about a horn that was passed on to me by a friend many years ago and it's just been living in a closet, you seem to have really mastered your trade. Very small silver saxophone made by buescher serial #252844. It came with a bit of history, apparently it used to quite regularly play up and down the French Quarter back in its day. I've been wanting to learn to play it for years, but I believe it would need a fair amount of work to be playable. I'm in Pass Christian so not too far away from your shop either. 🤔

It would be pretty nerve wracking to watch someone hammering on my Bach Strad, which is why if I were to have a mishap, I would rather just drop it off and not see the hammering. Other people's is ok, just not on my own.
