Толщиномер не покажет ничего, ибо слой олова вровень идет, шпакли особо и не нужно, беспалево.

There used to be lots of dodgy garages around where I live doing that sort of thing - one of the best was the local traffic warden who happened to do a bit of welding in his spare time!!

As an ex auto repair workshop operator - I really respect Arthur's skills - these days, his skills are almost lost - BUT - come the day the next big accident in that vehicle - will or will not it crumple or react as it should in a crash? That is always the issue with such major structural repairs. I can still remember doing such 'cut & shut' repairs 30-years ago - these days I 'pray' that those cars that I did those 'cut & shut' to are rusted out and went to scrap and never experienced another BIG crash with someone's kids sitting in the back. No matter how 'talented' we thought//think we were - they are never structurally the same - impossible. HA - but I am 'jealous' of Arthur -- his skill is something amazing and fun to watch - I smile when watching his videos - almost therapeutic. HA - although I am not a fan of his cut off wheels that have no guard (ever seen a wheel disintegrate? NOT 'pretty' - it is possible to bleed to death when a high speed bit hits your jugluar - especially when working alone - my mate's dad had such a bad experience with high-speed wheels) or when Arthur has the grinder or sander on lead-filled areas - that is a 'NO NO' Arthur - lead is a file only practice (he uses the old school term of 'tin' - but the majority of that stick is lead). A car like this in uk is categorised as b so for parts only, in my country (italy) we don't have any kind of salvage titles like uk or usa and sometimes body shops repaired cars damaged like this bmw, then they'll be sold by car dealers without mention anything about the accident.

Master Arthur's rebuilding line. ;) Well. Someone uses too much body filler rather than working on dents for hours, and goes. But this guy really loves his job. My fave is still his work to rebuild that Gallardo.

Работа сделана на 5+. Автор мастер своего дела. Жаль только, что эта машина опасна для жизни. Кто-то купит это бмв, будет на нем наваливать, и не дай бог на срокости это жестянка развалится. Считаю что такие машины должны идти под разбор.

Артур, от души спасибо за супер профессиональный ремонт. Добавляйте больше моментов, в которых видно работу с геометрией кузова, момент с совпадающим по сторонам уровнем - настоящий хайлайт, ну и зазоры получились классные у дверей, тоже стоит подробнее снять с разных углов!

@@albergalee6840 это 100%, в этом видео машина конструктор, попади машина в аварию, а с зади как правило дети сидят, сможет его совесть это переварить??, лечше бы не делал таки машины и пластинки "усиления" не помогут, вытягивал бы лучше.

Двоякое ощущение при просмотре данного видео. Мастер отличный, делает все грамотно, но купить такую машину - это горе..не дай бог, в аварию на неи улететь!
Вы инженер? На каждый автомобиль производитель выпускает мануал по ремонту кузова. Посмотрите ещё раз как выполняется работа. Стереотипы и ещё раз стереотипы. Большинство походу думает, что авто состоит из цельного куска металла)
@@ParamonIg А что, производители рассчитывают, что кузов у машины будет пилиться пополам и свариваться? И они гарантируют при этом сохранение первоначальных прочностных характеристик.
Ещё раз. Когда машина проектировалась, то прочностные характеристики рассчитывались из той конструкции, что спроектировали инженеры-конструкторы. Соответственно эти прочностные характеристики соответствую той конструкции, которую собрали на заводе.
Как при ремонте сделали вставку и как сварили, это никому не известно. Правильный ли метал, правильные ли режимы сварки, был ли какой-то контроль прочностных характеристик шва? Всё сделано на коленке и по мантре "я сто лет так варю, жалоб не было". Вот и весь контроль.
@@ParamonIg понятно что не из цельного, но 100% не сделать как на заводе, это физически невозможно т.к панели кузова собираются в определенном порядке, вспомнить даже Жорика с его М5 которому приварили зад «по заводским швам» 😉

Yeah but I think here in US, damage this severe will be deemed "unslvagable" "unrepairable" and will not be able to undergo salvage inspection... am I wrong?
Roman D no it probably will be sold at a salvage auction and someone will cobble up the repair in my state they just check the vin numbers on the car

@@Gs-sv6pw yeah, I understand, but what I am saying is that if you go to Copart auction site, there is a section there with severely damaged vehicles deemed unrepairable, not just "salvaged", you get bill of sale with is it, not even a branded title.
Roman D I can’t answer to what Copart does. After years of going to salvage auctions, these auctions are not opened to the public. You could buy anything that was for auction. No restrictions. So maybe it’s their decision to do that. All the best😀

@@phantomwalker8251 yep i had that with my volvo . pulled bumper from one lock. TOTAL LOSS. I put bumper back on new fixing for 15 pounds. Car driving another 5 years with no problem. .. stupid regulations made by stupid peoples
I have always admired the quality of your repairs, and in fact found them amazing.however this is a cut n shut, a good one but a cut n shut all the same. If that`s what the owner asked you to do that`s fine because he is paying you for it. However I doubt with your skill that you would have ever done that to one of your own cars. Keep up the great work and videos but maybe do not accept this type of work from some of the dodgy car traders perhaps?

Good to know, this kind of repair is not allowed here in Germany. In any case, I don't want to get into an accident with such a cart put together.

Same here in the UK. It’s called a cut and shut and been illegal for years. But never stopped many doing it at the time. His work is very good, but I would like to see the results of a crash test.

If it's done professionally and the car will pass the roadworthiness inspection it's OK.
Sometimes i wonder if he is not afraid before starting a job like this.

I’ve repaired cars in Ireland for 20 years, here’s a couple of observations
First of all I always ask myself would I travel with kids in a vehicle repaired like this...?
This car should not go back on the road
If this repair was done in Ireland or most other countries with any type of road safety/automobile standards it would be deemed unfit for road use and need to be scrapped
Doing this type of repair and selling on as a road worthy vehicle would result in at least a fine and loosing auto industry membership (SIMI) and possibly a criminal conviction if any injury occurred in a further road traffic incident
Although Arthur takes on some big jobs this one is too far
Bmw like most car companies don’t want structural steel being welded with a MIG welder as the weld burns the carbon from the steel and makes the weld and surrounding area brittle which can lead to failure when stressed from a crash
On the small side and a poor mistake by Arthur would be to leave the front seats and carpet in while doing the job. While welding and grinding so easy to damage or contaminate the interior. Just from welding and spraying aerosols it will leave a smell in the vehicle fabrics
Don’t get me wrong Arthur has some great skills, however safety trumps talent and workmanship
I tend to agree on this one. That's not a seam that you want to split in an automobile crash.
arthur is skilled, but as you say, a car like this isnt safe in a second crash, atleast not a rear ender.
I don't know if there are any laws against it because this type of repairs would not be economically feasible, but i really would like to see a crash test comparison. Regarding car companies they just want new car sales so they would argue that any repair is dangerous and you need a new car :)
It does seem amazing that it was worth repairing and although it may behave differently in a crash, I wouldn't say it was unsafe. It's welded in the same place as the factory, also reinforcements were added through sill cutouts etc.

@@Z1LVA Thats funny, whole east part of the world (post communist) thinking in the same way, the buyer is stupid and that is his fault, not the seller if he wont say that car was welded in half. I observe that kind of logic in my country too (Poland), but thats slowly changing after courts have said different things.
@@MoherPower92 when you buy car two times cheaper it's original value it is your fault if you did not check it properly before giving the money. If you want good car-buy new and in dealer. If you are looking for new car for cheap-this is the car for you :)
@@Z1LVA not really. the problem is they dont sell them at two times cheaper, they sell them at full price and dont disclose anything, often even changing VIN with the parts car they cut the rear end off.
@@lulzyboy to change vin is illegal. In Lithuania if we buy cars from US we allways ask for vin and auction photos. But recent few years there come a lot buyers from other countries who have local car selling points. I do not know how they sell these cars that were damaged for the local customers.

Но машина всех устраивает.
Год назад Артуру писал как лучше поменять тот или иной узел. Я забил и не прислал ему повреждения. Даже перед Артуром не удобно. Он всегда рад помочь! И почту свою скажет и всё такое)

Не знаю как обстоят дела в процентном соотношении залипуха\нормальный ремонт во Владике. Но те что мне попадались распилы с Японии собранные на Дальнем Востоке на родажу- это дно полное, сделанное за шапку сухарей в гаражах. Ни кто не парится за безопасность и по наружке обваривают, лишь бы до владельца доехало.
