Joni is one of, if not THE, most prolific female artists ever. period. fantastic, writer, fantastic singer, fantastic musician. there's not much she can't do. as a kid, this song was HUGE and on the radio all the time. i always liked it but was too young to really appreciate it fully. listening to this years later was eye opening and mind blowing. amazing. the whole album (court and spark) is perfect. ...as are many of her other albums and songs...

In my opinion there are no contemporary female artist today that can even remotely compare to Joni Mitchell. The complexity of her arrangements and as a lyricist is incredible.
Joni Mitchell evolved from a folk singer into jazz. Edith and the Kingpin and Amelia are mesmerizing when heard on an a quality set of headphones.

Quintessential Joni Mitchell right here. But, the Most Famous Are : The Circle Game, Clouds, Big Yellow Taxi, Woodstock and Free Man In Paris. Personally my FAVORITES ARE: This Flight Tonight, You turn me on I'm a radio, Electricity, Court And Spark, For The Roses, For Free, River, People's Parties, Trouble Child. The songs I just mentioned are LYRIC GOLD. Please take the time to read the lyrics while you listen to them. They are some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written. Anything by Joni Mitchell will be on the highest level lyrically. She is considered a master among all musicians.

Joni is one of those rare tip top tier talents who's music is beautiful, has meaning, and is timeless. She plays many parts on a lot of her songs including doing her own background vocals. My favorite line in this song is "we love our lovin' but not like we love our freedom". And yes, many of her songs a have a jazzy feel. On this album jazz greats Tom Scott is on wood winds and reeds, Joe Sample handled keyboards, and guitar legend Larry Carlton is on the electric guitar. Joni was on acoustic guitars of course. From the same album, listen closely to the lyrics and the fantastic layered vocal of People's Parties:
