- A tire fell off a United Airlines flight after it took off from San Francisco International Airport on Thursday, initially bound for Japan. The diverted plane later landed safely at LAX.
"At approximately 11:35 a.m., United Flight 35 departing to Osaka lost a portion of landing gear tire during takeoff," a United representative said.

The tire debris landed in one of SFO's employee parking lots. There were no injuries reported, but our sister station in San Francisco was over the scene, where police placed caution tape around cars that appeared to be hit by the tire. READ MORE: abc7.com/united-tire-plane-sa...
Not just the tire, the whole wheel assembly. Those car owners should get together for a lawsuit for the airline fckng up.
It was the employee parking lot, users assume all liability!
Law suit smaw suit! That’s not going to fix anything! Companies need to straighten up their systems and stop looking at profits! Do better background checks on employees! The board that over sees aircraft and airports Needs to do a better job!
today, a United plane sat on its belly in Houston and another emergency landing due to hydraulic failure.
@@GT-mn3bx thanks, I think that's 4 incidents in a couple of weeks. Shareholders didn't care about regular maintenance so now things are caught up and the deleting of human beings over money.
@@GT-mn3bx how do you know? Did you do the investigation?
Props to Sal at Cali Planes for catching the video on his live stream. Sure hope all these TV stations pay him to use it - this small but growing channel of his is his only job.
I’m tired of these safety issues.
What safety, it’s just a tyre dude
@@bondemupazanyini4706 You need to look at the bigger picture. If "just a tire" is being looked over in safety inspections (which is probably the bare minimum as far as inspections and maintenance go) , there are some catastrophic problems going on.
@@bondemupazanyini4706 U might wanna look up Boeing's safety record before commenting lol. They prioritize profits over safety & its biting them in the ass.
Ps.
They went from building & entrusting the brand with engineers to giving the brand over to business minded ppl who compromise safety for profits.
Get some rest, you'll feel better in the morning
@@bondemupazanyini4706 You gonna keep saying that when it's your head this stuff is fallin on?
…and what if someone was injured or killed.. it’ll just be a “oops sorry to the deceased for their inconvenience”
They're insured.
Free airplane rides to the funeral for out of state relatives , or ….
What If ? Honda started making interesting cars instead of that front wheel drive KO WRX with the STI Wang , is the question? 😂
The tire is sitting in a parking lot, not the runway lol.
Soon will be sitting in a pile of money with some fanning her PS on her command 😂
Just be advised LA:
Any emergency flight landing at LAX. Is usually the opposite from normal arrivals/departures. Meaning, landing to drop fuel are coming in over the Pacific Ocean. Especially with any mechanical failures that may drop or disassemblage debris over the Los Angeles basin.
First an engine now a tire! A bad day for United!
tires don't fly, they fall!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We know that now!
As Kenny Rogers sang “You picked a fine time to leave me Loose Wheel”
They should check who's the last person that tied up that tired?Maybe they left at loose
@0:55 "just sitting there in the middle of the runway"...
How about ACCURATE reporting? Fact checking what you tell folks?
Parking...lot.
In...a parking lot.
Wow, the mechanic forget the tighten those lug nuts or what? Maintenance shortcuts by United?
DEI?
Wow United again
United Airlines is proud to exceed their current DEI standards in employment. That landing assembly was inspected earlier in the day by the most diverse ground crew in aviation history!
Pilot: "I'm wheely growing tired of all these interruptions".
Hi . We're experiencing higher than normal call volume
Wow this should not be happening.
At this point we are no longer safe flying. I’ve seen 4 post about planes having issues in the past week. I’m good thank you
Wise man
Unacceptable!
The left main gear bogie handled the landing at LAX without incident. Another great Boeing redundant design that allowed a heavy plane to land with 5 of its 6 wheels and tires on the left main gear.
Great boeing design? Bruh that’s standard on any passenger jet
@strandkorbst9643 IKR this guy must be a Boeing employee. 😂
You work for boeing or something lol
@@jackmorrison8269 Jack, I'm just a pilot who recognizes a well-designed and extraordinary performing aircraft.
Pre - McDonnell Douglas Boeing design
Looks like the whole landing gear shifted, look at the front tire also
Be more specific?
Imagine taking a break sitting in your car as an employee. Good god 😡
This could have been much worse! Who is responsible for all these parts falling off planes!
Why is this happening when there are mechanics that are trained to service these planes!
Honestly,im so glad i dont live in America and take domestic flights there, it looks like a nightmare and the airlines seem hit and miss
HELLO! The tyre is not sitting in the middle of the “ RUNWAY “ it’s sitting in the Parking Lot…. If the tyre is sitting in the middle of the Runway surround by Investigators when the tyre is removed they should also remove all those light standard posts less a wing is taken out….
I dont think any astronaught is getting on the boeing Starliner at this point 😂
Lol you’re not wrong but this had little to do with Boeing. The plane was 22 years old, this is squarely the fault of United Airlines maintenance.
Dumped the fuel? Where, and over what city/people?
It's whole wheel, isn't it?
What? The tire landed on a parking lot damaging cars and is now sitting in the middle of the runway? All that is really "shoooking", 😂😂😂
It's almost like federal regulations and standards have been eased up on.
Not safe to fly anymore, what is happening? Why are we devolving?
Sorry but there are still very smart people. I cant speak for the rest of “society”
Whoops who signed that tire change off 🤣
Losses a wheel and tire ! Big difference than loosing a tire… if wheel falls off that’s means it wasn’t secured properly, maintenance error.
The poor people whose cars were smashed - their insurance companies will probably say they dont insure for 'acts of god' which is how they will characterize something falling from the sky.
I guess you did not watch the whole news video, the UAL statement (1:07) state that they will work with the car owners to address the the issue.
You know there’s gonna be a few lawsuits from people with mental stress
Looks like United's DEI push is not only for pilots but maintenance personnel as well.
Can't wait for the report with pictures
Looks like the blue line gang has the tire in restraints.
"middle of the runway" 😂
Repair all those cars
LOL....they're all rights offs.
Park somewhere else next time
Breason
This seems to be happening a lot in the last few years.. Is it DEI
Or sabbatage or both..?
Its called cutting corners and putting profits over safety. You must be on the spectrum.
Flying to Japan seems sketchy as
imagine explaining this in an insurance claim lol
and Slate Fawn would deny it!!!
The tire is not "sitting in the runway"
Its like something had changed lately that is directly affecting planes and air travel as a whole, in particular America... I wonder what it is?
Biden....
OK, i gotta ask, where was the fuel dumped? 😂
Pacific Ocean, probably had to dump close to 100,000 pounds.
avation mechanics are easily making over $50 an hour stuff like this should not happen at all especially commercial ones...
DEI hiring going well
Could they have just kept going and preformed emergency landing in Japan? What’s the difference?
Awesome footage and very nice place.
This video deserves all the praise it receives!!Very big like(339) 👍👍👍!
Have a nice weekend!
I wish you a happy easter!
Damaged? wrote off, I think you'll find
Big trouble in little Tokyo
For that also they are using police line do not cross ribbon, that's hilarious!
The tire was not in the middle of the runway! How did the tire hit cars in a parking lot and then bounce back to the runway? Lol.
You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel. 🎶
Fake chests make me sad.
I just finished watching the Last Week Tonight video on Boeing. This flight was a Boeing 777, you can't make this shit up
@pyrotechnick420 Same here!
Maintenance issue. Aircraft that have been flying fine for 22 years don't fall apart because of manufacturing issues, they fall apart because of bad maintenance.
@@TanTran-xe4mb youre failing to account for inherent design flaws
Totaled* cars, not damaged them.
Get your sh** together BOEING! LITERALLY!
This had nothing to do with Boeing. The plane was 22 years old, this is 100% on United Airlines.
United Airline was busy overbooking that they forgot to lockdown the tire.
At this point Boeing's safety reputation is done for. Profit over safety has destroyed this brand.
Let me guess... it was a Boeing plane?
Ron White's Lug Nut School is accepting applicants
If the plane kept going, it may have lost a wing or tail.
Very funny
Normal pit stop😂
i wonder if those ppl are gana get a free trip to JP
Love that DEI
Boeing needs to be shut down.
I like how everybody immediately jumps to the conclusion of "diversity hire". I guess we all become aviation experts and business advisors whenever there's an incident.
Parts made in China!!
😅
USA looks more and more like a 3rd world country, yet they keep sending billions to corrupt Ukraine.....
Just like karma employees parking lot !!!!sound like the plain knows who did not check the plain. that took off!!!!,🔴🤫🫢putting in danger hundreds of passengers!!!!!!🤫
✌️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸
😂😂😂
Boeing... again lol
This plane was 22 years old, maintenance issue, not Boeing
Stop sending hard earned tax dollars to corrupt Ukraine while our equipment is like 3rd world countries...
Sooo when is the DOT going to ban boeing planes from flying? I think Starship is safer than their 25 year old planes that are falling apart before our eyes
Ok, let’s stop ignoring the biggest reason why these “accidents” are becoming an everyday occurrence.
It’s not the tires, it’s not the emergency doors, it’s not the engine design…it’s DEI hiring!
Not DEI, get a fucking education. All A&P mechanics have to go through stringent FAA qualifications and testing. How do you know a part didn't fail and has nothing to do with the mechanic who installed the wheel assembly?
DEI hire?
IDIOT! Not DEI, get a fucking education. All A&P mechanics have to go through stringent FAA qualifications and testing. How do you know a part didn't fail and has nothing to do with the mechanic who installed the wheel assembly?
Boeing
Nah.. Probably maintenance im sure that jet has alot of flights logged since it was delivered new.
Has nothing to do with Boeing
Hey, United were your mechanics a diversity hire??? Since you said you were hiring on skin color, not job proficiency. I will NEVER fly United.
Probably
Not DEI, get a fucking education. All A&P mechanics have to go through stringent FAA qualifications and testing. How do you know a part didn't fail and has nothing to do with the mechanic who installed the wheel assembly?
