- We’ll finally be getting to installing the three traffic signals and controller. We’ll also install a couple of power busses under the table for powering the board as well as the other lighting accessories.

Good video.
Thank you! 👍🏼
Looks great, Dan. I'm sure the miniature motorists and truckers will appreciate the organized intersection a lot better. The markings will be really neat to see too. Maybe you can get a drivers point of view of the intersection at some point.
The styrene tubes are a good idea for sure. Evergreen makes so many shapes and sizes of polystyrene. I have some really thin sheet I got from them. Too thin for the use I had, but I'll use it for something. Window shades maybe? Something will come up no doubt.
The little metal pieces for the base of your light poles are an example of why we hang on to things I guess. That was serendipitous for sure! They look perfectly suited like they're made for the poles.
Work on my layout continues.. Undercoat painted, rocks going in as we speak. I gave up on hydrocal for attaching them since it set up too quickly on my first attempt. I also broke the rock in 2 places trying to get the fast hardening hydrocal on the back! Then it didn't stick! lol. So I removed all that mess and used Sculptamold which works much better. Elmers works great too for flat mating surfaces. What did you use for rocks and portals? See you next time!
Hi Tom, thank you. I got a pretty good still for the thumbnail shot, but yes I’ll try some street level camera angles for sure! The plastic tubes worked great and were much easier to cut than brass or aluminum would have been. After I bought those, I found two brass tubes still in a package that I had hanging right behind my bench. The previous homeowners left it there. Haha, I could’ve used those but it would have been tricky cutting them under the bench, and they are a bigger diameter. For the big rock behind the downtown buildings I used hydrocal and let it ooze out around it which allowed me to smooth out the edges and fill the gaps. For the smaller ones, the white turbo tack glue and for some others, and the tunnel portals I used the foam tack glue, which is just a contact cement. I too found the hydrocal hard to work with. My buddy gave me a tub of elasticized putty which I used also as I recall. I’ll have to see if I still have that laying around and let you know what it is. I’ll try to get the lines painted this weekend, since it’s another 3-dayer. Not sure what the next video will be yet. Maybe a search for the front right railing that got pulled off of my new GP-38 #307. It’s still MIA. It got snagged on the Christmas lights on the bridge and I have a feeling it’s hiding inside the tunnel somewhere. Probably the missing snowball kid has it?! 😁
Dan, the lights look great. I don't know if this will help access under the layout. You could cut the lower brace in the middle between the screws remove the screws on the end and the middle and replace with bolts with wing nuts so it's easy to remove and still maintain the structural integrity of the layout, just a thought.
That’s a great idea Lou, I hadn’t considered wing nuts. I should’ve set up the camera on a tripod showing me getting under there, it’s like a fat cat going through a small doggie door. I’ll definitely make that an upcoming project so I can take on the lights for the downtown area and eventually get to crossing signals and gates. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
Dan I built a small seat on wheels to get under mine to do wiring but mine is 50 inches high and the layout is also on wheels.
@@louschneider3681 another good idea. I may have clearance, I made my bench pretty high. I’ll explore that option as well. Thank you.
Awesome, do you plan to exhibit your Grand Valley somewhere?
Hi Moozeeck, no unfortunately it’s not easily removed from the basement. It would have to be disassembled to get it out, so it’s not an option. Thank you for watching. 👍🏼
Nice traffic lights. Could i get the link to where u got that bag of junction buses? I need several for my layout
Thank you! Sure thing, I got them on Amazon.

Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
What type of street light do you use? What brand?
@@ivangillispie4186 they are Woodland Scenics Just Plug street lights.
I just looked at the just plug traffic signals. And I do not see any that look like the ones you use.
@@ivangillispie4186 hi Ivan, sorry you said street lights. I’m not sure the exact traffic signals that I used but they are very similar to these.

If you check the comments below, I link to the controller and possibly discuss where I got the signals, but honestly I can’t remember.
What are the modes on these?
Hi, sorry for the delay getting back to you I’ve been looking for the instructions for that controller board. That was a separate purchase from the traffic signals. I remember getting the signals on eBay, but I’m not sure where I got the controller board. I think I may have talked about it in a prior video to the installation, so let me take a look and I’ll send you a link here when I find it. As far as the modes I remember it has several options for how they can operate including a couple that incorporate crossing signals and European signals.
Here is a link to the MFG website: galakelectronics.com/VG-303.htm
They explain all the functions and specs right on that page.
I purchased the board on Amazon. Here’s a link to the listing: Dual Traffic Light Controller - LED Sequencer / Model Railroad Compatible HO,N,Z www.amazon.com/dp/B00OEJKNFU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_JQSC66TMCFYHR1HE6A58
Hope that helps. 👍🏼
@@DansGrandValley ok! Thanks!
@@DansGrandValley how do you power them to a outlet?
@@Starlight_Emergency_Light They are 12 V. I used bus blocks underneath the table and ran the power leads, one each to positive and negative. Then I powered the bus blocks with the 12 V power supply that I have sitting under the table on the shelf.
