Not sure if you noticed - but the hooded guy that pulled the trigger in the video was him as well, it represents his inner demon. Keung To was only 19 years old when he won a talent show in Hong Kong 3 years ago but he really rose to fame last year after winning 2 major local music awards (also broke the record of being the youngest winner in history). Growing up as an overweight kid in class he was constantly bullied, and then sudden popularity brought him a lot of attention, both good and bad. MIRROR is a Hong Kong boyband. Keung To is a member of MIRROR. "Keung" is his last name and "To" (pronounced "Tow") is his first name. Not sure if you noticed - but the hooded guy that pulled the trigger in the video was him as well, it represents his inner demon. Keung To was only 19 years old when he won a talent show in Hong Kong 3 years ago but he really rose to fame last year after winning 2 major local music awards (also broke the record of being the youngest winner in history). Growing up as an overweight kid in class he was constantly bullied, and then sudden popularity brought him a lot of attention, both good and bad. His fan base multiplies on a daily basis, but also a lot of people said that he was too young and inexperienced to deserve the awards. This song is about how he dealt with all the unfair attacks - he tried running away, fighting back and he finally came to the realization that the source of all his struggles was his self-doubt, and he would not be able to break free until he learns to live with it. MIRROR is a Hong Kong boyband. Keung To is a member of MIRROR. This is about him shooting to fame, facing a fuck ton of unfair criticism and being pigeonholing as being the “cute” one (rather than being recognised for his talent). He was bullied as a kid for being overweight and “unattractive” (jokes on them honestly) which is mentioned in the song.
The guy holding a gun to his head is himself (Keung To). This is him realising that he is his own harshest critic and that he has nothing to prove to anyone else.
One of the final lines of the song, 我是濤 (I am To). 濤is his name. He had wanted to get a stage name because he didn’t like his own. This is him coming into his own. 濤 also means huge waves in Cantonese. He has been figuratively a huge wave, taking Hong Kong by storm. Mirror and Keung To have played a huge role in reviving the Cantopop scene the last year.
Keung To just won the Most Popular Male Artist and the Most Popular Song of the Year (with another song of his called “Dear My Friend,”) a couple days ago at one of the city’s most prestigious award shows.
2021 has been a lot for Keung To. One of his few close friends passed away while playing basketball with him (which his favourite sport). Dear My Friend, is a song dedicated to his late friend. He broke down crying performing the song when it was crowned the most popular song of the year. His father suffered a stroke so he is now the sole breadwinner for his family (at age 22).
He’s a pretty private person. But the past year because of his sudden fame, paparazzi are on to his every move. Many are bitter and believe that he doesn’t deserve the amount of attention he’s getting. I mean he doesn’t have a lot of say in that. It’s not his fault that people are so obsessed with him lol it’s not easy shouldering an entire industry at 22.
Anyway, I think 鏡中鏡 (the song you react to) is a great song that breaks boundaries for Cantopop. I’m glad that he’s constantly trying something new with his music. His choreography is pretty innovative too.

He has been receiving so much negative and discouraging comments from the opposition and constantly being a victim of cyber bullying (even at this moment).
This song is documenting how he went from the lowest point of life (ironically from the rising of his fame and popularity), through a year-long of transition period. He finally realized that his fear and enemy actually comes from within and ultimately reached a breakthrough. He has now become more endurance and resilient to opposite opinions and voices.

He started having doubt about himself amidst attacks and people’s expectations. The masked crowd symbolizes the haters who attack him daily, but the real enemy or Big Boss is the hooded man who has been secretly observing him all along. #KeungTo decides to run from these attacks. He is shot and wounded, and all he could do is to try to save himself and run. The hooded big boss appears on scene again in the auditorium. And guess who this big boss is! It’s #KeungTo himself, as big boss’s face is revealed. #Keungto runs to the top of the building and he sees the stunning Hong Kong harbor skyline, and possibly remembers why he dreamed to be an artist, which is to bring HK music to the international stage! This time around, though Big Boss is pointing a gun directly at him, he chooses not to fear and escape but to fight a good fight, thus the smirk! I think this should be made into a movie and put on Netflix. Haha!!
