What's the manuscript? How is it different from the paper itself?

1. Manuscript is a typed, written words document which is communicated or submitted by researcher to any journal for consideration of publication. On the hand, Research Paper is the term what we use for the same manuscript after it get published.
2. In simple words, we can say Manuscript is a kind of written document before it get published/printed by any journal/scientific community and research paper is published one.

​@@basicappliedmicrobiology So there is a journal, and on its submission page it asks for a manuscript and then it again asks for a title, abstract, etc. separately at another place.
I want to know if I should include the abstract in the manuscript and again submit the abstract separately where it's asked?
In other words, Is the article I have written (without an abstract at the beginning) considered a manuscript or I should add an abstract at the beginning of it before it qualifies to be called a manuscript?

@@SidharthGat Abstract is also a part of manuscript.
Its true during submission, mostly there is a different section asking for abstract in case of many journal portals...usually in journals after uploading the manuscript, by default abstract is added in that separate section...but if in the journal where you are submitting, its again asking for you to add abstract..then.. paste the same here also.

I have one more question though.
How does a journal ensure that it doesn't use the submitted material by the authors in an un-rightful way? Are there any intellectual property protection practices in place that protect the authorship of the true author of the material?
(For example, this statement appeared in the privacy/confidentiality policy of a journal: "I understand that while all reasonable attempts will be taken to assure that my submission will be treated as confidential information to be used only by editors and staff of Quarterly Journal of Economics and any anonymous reviewers they might choose to evaluate its suitability for publication, it is not possible to provide an absolute guarantee that this submission is completely confidential and will not be seen by unauthorized parties." While it only speaks about being "SEEN" by an unauthorized party, could it also mean being used? Are they also trying to indicate a possibility of not-so-rightful use of the submitted material?
