Man, part of what makes the English dubbed YYH an incredible anime is the amazing blend of action and comedy. The writing for the English dub is so well done. The original is great, but there are so many little quips throughout this one that just make it iconic imo.
It's such a great way to end the first round for team Urameshi. The knife edge deathmatch was a gimmick with no frills. It was just two fighters slugging it out until the end. It was great with the tension building to the committee's decision, especially changing from no to yes. When Sakyo left his press box after the committee said no, it seemed to hint that he went to see them and use his influence or money to change their decision. That may have been why they changed their decision and allowed the knife edge deathmatch. It goes to show that the committee can be influenced/bribed in its decision-making. This was also where you first see Yusuke enjoy himself when fighting. Yusuke always got thrown into situations he shouldn't win, but somehow pulled through, but now he was more prepared. He already had a natural talent for it, but now he is starting to enjoy the fight. It is a subtle moment that may get lost in all the action. It is a bigger moment than it seems. I don't want to spoil anything, so I will leave it at that. Karasu makes his first appearance. You barely see much of him or what he can do, but you can tell there is something very ominous about him. Even in that little bit you see of him, it just screams danger. It is just a glimpse of what's to come...
been waiting for that Yusuke cosplay since day one, homie; Good stuff. Also, hiei saying "the one with the hardest head will win" only for it all to be decided by a headbutt is insane.
※ Thanks for your reacting. By the way, the new year is coming soon. So I'll introduce about Japanese Shoh-gatsu (new year Jan) a little this time. This is the oldest Japanese event, having already existed in the mid-6th century. The Shoh-gatsu is one of the two most key traditional events in Japan. There was originally a custom of worshiping the dead since ancient times, and it was believed that they would return from the other world in winter (Shou-gatsu) and summer (Obon), and it was an event to honor the souls of the dead. Later, as the influence of Buddhism became stronger, the Buddhist event "Obon" became an event to honor ancestors, and Shou-gatsu became " Thoshi-gami (god of harvest)" at the beginning who brings happiness and pray for a good harvest for the year, and as a happy time when the gods come. So, it has a different meaning from the Western Happy New Year. Shoh-gatsu customs (Prepared from the end of the year) We decorate with kagami mochi cake, shimekazari decorations, kadomatsu, etc. We also eat Soba and Udon as an event that crosses over into the new year. January 1st sunrise is called the "Hatsu-hinode," so watching the sunrise on Gantan (New Year’s Day) is Japan's a tradition annual event. So many people worship the sunrise at the sea or the mountains. Also, on January 1st or 2nd or 3rd, we eat zoni (rice cakes, taro, carrots, daikon radish, etc. simmered in miso). But today in the city most people do not pound rice cakes and just buy them . There is also "Osechi ryori," a special dish made with wishes for people to live happily and healthily throughout the year. Other customs 1) The first acquaintance you meet in the new year will be greeted with "Happy New Year", but this will never say until the new year. 2) we send New Year's postcard to acquaintances. But now is often done by cell phone or email. But, if you are in mourning, you will send a postcard in advance to apologize for not celebrating New Year. "Hatsu-moude," where people visit shrines and temples at the start of the new year, and the gods and Buddhas, saying, "I hope your continued support this year." Children are also given New Year's money. But, the original Shoh-gatsu was on January of the lunar calendar (around February in the Solar calendar), so the Lunar New Year is given more importance in the People's Republic of China (includes Hong Kong and Macau), Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, North Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, and other areas. Even in Japan, there are some areas, such as Okinawa Prefecture and the Amami Islands of Kagoshima Prefecture, Lunar New Year is celebrated.
Y'all really need to react to this show either twice a week or have 2 episode reactions. Enjoying everything so far! Edit: Ok, just saw the community post! Also love the guitars in the background, especially the Warrior which is my favorite. I have some Jacksons, too.
