    I had Collection 2 as a kid. I loved it back then and sometimes the music from it finds its way back into my head.

    THANK YOU!!!
    I played this game as a little kid (over ten years after the game came out)! I've been wondering what game this was for YEARS and now i know!! You're the best!

    THIS GAME WAS PART OF MY CHILDHOOD

    Referencing 18:11, if you had Kid Desk installed and ran it through Kid Desk, the title screens "Stop" button would be replaced with the Kid Desk logo, since Edmark made it also.

      +garry12gg That makes sense. :)

    This honestly sounds interesting. Glad to see edutainment software done this gwell. This honestly looks pretty cool. When it comes to the game my guess is Oregon Trail considering that game is on everything. Even Wii & 3DS.

    The Fripples game reminds me of Guess Who? One of my favorites as a kid.

    I remember the 2nd game. and my family had a Mac (7.5 to be exact) before I started high school. I don't have the disk on me now, I do think the CD was meant for both windows and Mac.

    Fun fact, many of the devs on this later founded Monolith Productions

    Mhh personally at the age of 4, I rather use physical objects rather than a computer program. I have an autistic child and his education is very special. The methods I used and still use today are non orthodox (non traditional) and with him I have more success if I use physical objects and physical interaction rather than a PC. I'm not saying I wont say no to the game but rather would look at the child and see his response. Well too long to say on this subject but I'm just saying I would rather use other means than this game or any computer games
    still as always, good video

      +Late Game Reviewer Of course, the best approach is always going to be different for every child. Even a program like this I wouldn't say, "GO BUY THIS NOW! YOU MUST!!!!1" because it really depends on the approach a parent or teacher wants and/or needs to take. This is just a good choice for parents or teachers who want to incorporate old software in what they do in some way. ;)

    In this version of this program when you leave the blox activities spheres or shapes the screen stays black and you don't go to the menu.

    For some reason when you play this version of this program in windows the sound messes up in the fripple shop.

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +dominic passante contaldi There could be any number of reasons for that happening... I don't have a good means of properly testing this myself.

    the patreon question was kind of odd, but this was a good video of an interesting game

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Summer Laverdure I've actually had the reward tier set up for asking questions for future episodes for almost a year now, it's just that the people who qualify don't often ask questions for whatever reason. ;)

    • @summerlaverdure
      @summerlaverdure 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      oh it's not the concept of the questions, it's the question itself! I cant imagine anyone really caring about how well an old kid's learning game did, like i guess it could help you judge rarity if you're a collector but I just thought it odd to wonder if it was popular or not. It also seems like something that you'd just assume would be covered in a restrospective video. That's just me though. The Patreon Question idea is wonderful and I hope more people ask questions in the future, hopefully a little more interesting and relevant than this one!

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Summer Laverdure Perhaps, but really, any question about the games I cover are legit, so I'll answer them legit! :)

    Pixelmusement, in this video and the other, a train can be heard ? Freight train ?

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Modelism si scratch building
      in Iasi I live about 150 M away from train tracks. With any live recordings (such as Shovelware Diggers), it's not possible to completely eliminate trains passing by from my voicework. For ADG, I try VERY hard to avoid getting them into the commentary, but on rare occasions they do and I don't notice until it's too late to fix it. :/

      @Roarkethemerciless 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No problem, i like trains and your videos. The sound is not so noticiable.

    In my testing, the covox speech thing support has better mixer quality.

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +MeatBeat I felt it was about on par with Sound Blaster support. For some VERY odd reason though, the DSS support sounds messed up, even though the DSS is almost identical to a Covox device! :o

    • @jacobthesitton9142
      @jacobthesitton9142 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, the DSS support sounds atrocious almost as bad as the adlib support at least under dosbox.

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +MeatBeat NOTHING sounds as bad as trying to use the AdLib as a DAC under DOSBox. ;) (NOTE: Using the AdLib as a DAC sounds better on real hardware. DOSBox just doesn't emulate AdLib in a way where that can function right.)

      We had Mario edutainment games, why not Zelda ones? They can use Toon Link-style graphics.

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Torcularis We probably would've had such games if the Zelda CDi games had gone over better... I think Nintendo's initial attempts to license their properties out beyond their own systems and seeing the butchered results scared them away from doing such things again for an exceptionally long time. :P

    • @lilwyvern4
      @lilwyvern4 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Considering the results, do you blame them? XD

  • @StephanS
    @StephanS 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Nope, nope and nope! It's a metalophone or glockenspiel, not a xylophone. Xylo means wood

    • @Pixelmusement
      @Pixelmusement  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Stephan S Uhh... given the kind of graphics on display and the fact that these things come in all sorts of styles and paint jobs and such, how can you even tell? :P

    • @StephanS
      @StephanS 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well the graphics dont matter that much, since (as you mentioned) they come in all sort of styles and quality. But the sound matters. It's a big difference between a "plock" and a "ding" Glockenspiel are made of metal and xylophones are "TADA" made out of wood.
