I’m a travel nurse and have worked in the operating room for ten years full time. I’ve never seen an anesthesiologist place an IV bag I’m a warmer like that. We have fluid warmer machines in the OR that we actively warm a room temp bag for anesthesiologists. The techs stock the bags in the warmers to save time for the doctors. I hope he gets convicted
It is not the best proof, but when you put a "fresh" cold bag into the warmer, you place it low in the pile so that the first bags reached for are the warmest.
I was an anesthesia technician in Abilene when Dr Ortiz was in practice here. I can’t think of one time, in 17 years where we used warm IV fluids. If he was concerned about keeping a patient warm, there are blood warmers. You put the fluid through there. There is also a Bair Hugger. You place a special blanket under or onto of the patient and it blows warm air into the blanket
Blood warmer does not work for warming iv bags...there are special fluid warming cabinets in operating theatres...operating theatres are quite cold and in order to not drop patients temperatures warm iv fluids are administered...🇳🇦
Yeah he’s full of it! Anybody that see’s the video after you placing the IV bags in the frig, then looking around to see if anybody saw you, is a dead giveaway.
@@thanos7110 Don’t ever serve on a jury, kiddo. DALLAS - Dr. Raynaldo Rivera Ortiz, an anesthesiologist in North Texas, has been indicted on several charges relating to the tampering with several IV bags at a Dallas surgical center. 🤣😂🤣
@@thanos7110 Wow really? A heater? Since when is a refrigerator considered a heater and why would you heat any IV bags, ya duuunce? Ortiz is in jail where he belongs.
Does anyone know why or how this case got brought up in federal court as opposed to state court ? Wasn't sure if Ortiz did this in other states before or something. Thanks !
He set up patients and those caring for those patients. He affected not only the patients and their loved ones, but potentially the careers of good people and their well-being. It is a stressful job and bad outcomes for our patients are part of that stress.
He belongs in prison. The evidence is there, and the jury made the correct decision. The problems stopped when he was no longer working at that hospital. He's a vile and disgusting medical personnel.
It's done in operating theatre, to administer warm iv fluid to patients, theatre can be colder than patients body temperature...we use special warmers for iv fluids in theatre...
Intresting that as soon as the other doctor figured it out, the problem stopped. Outpatient surgery centers are a nightmare anyway. They are in it for money (not that other hospitals aren't) and often have less oversight from my experience. Also a word of advise, if you are ever accused of a crime, shut your mouth and get a lawyer. Definitely don't do interviews from jail. Dude is a defense attorney's nightmaner there.
I don’t believe a word is Doctor is saying he is a disgrace to the Anesthesia department. My husband works for Anesthesia department and he has never been accused of anything as ridiculous is something like this this is so sad that this guy thought he was God playing with peoples lives he wanted to feel needed this. Doctor did so he created drama around him so that he can feel important. That’s what that was aboutand is an angry man who has no business being out in society it’s so obvious you did it how convenient partner or that young lady that was working with him died really at doctors disgrace
If your husband was accused of something such as this, would you want a court of public opinion to convict him before he even got a trial? This hospital sounds hella messed up that they didn’t shut down everything with these unusual events. Seeing a doctor pick up medical supplies…that doesn’t seem shocking to me personally.
Placing an IV bag in a warmer proves nothing unless you know what are in those bags and who took them out of the warmer when the surgery was done. This is a very odd case.
True. I was also thinking since they accused him of tampering with bags for the previous incidents, perhaps he was placing bags there for only his use to prove he wasn’t drugging the bags. I’m completely impartial, however my question is what would be the benefit to him for doing such a thing?
He was creating random acts of crises... with other teams, his victims were never his case patients, hence he manufactured the randomness. His mistake was creating all the same symptoms.
Did the victims decrease in age with time? Could it be someone starting with older patients and working up to younger and younger? Even when the procedures scheduled were ordered more randomly? What were the surgery schedules like? Could these be riskier at certain times because of the weather this summer or when they schedule elective procedures all at once after COVID for example.
Just curious if they know what his motive was? Just bizarre he would do that but I’m sure they investigated thoroughly. Also, are physicians allowed to take IV bags home to give to themselves? That’s how the one doctor died. That is strange too….. don’t they inventory them? I’m glad they caught him before more lives were lost.
I can't remember the exact name of the drug. It's a subcutaneous anesthetic like lidocaine, but has a much longer duration of action - starts with a 'B' ________caine. Sorry I can't remember the exact name.
Grateful for the suspicious MD who followed up.

His name is now MR Ortiz. I think the Doctor part is over…..
This is sickening.
That poor husband bless your heart.
In Australia, it is always the anaesthetic nurse who handles the IV bags. We do put them in the warmer. I’ve never seen a Dr get the IV bags.
a criminal lying, shocking!
The hospital should be sued for their negligence period!!!!

it’s done a lot. fluids are quite cold in the OR it drops the temp quite quick due to the effects of general anesthesia
Life in the federal penitentiary!

I bet he did it to make the other doctors look bad.
He was being investigated for "errors" in his medical work. So he wanted "revenge" on the superiors investigating him.
Wasn’t Baylor the same facility where Dr Christopher Duntsch worked as a neurosurgeon?
Killer are you there
Did the problems stop after his arrest?
Yes
Guilty verdicts on all counts.
Another evil doctor from Scott Baylor and White, hunh? Another one like Dr. Christopher Duntsch.

Was Dr. Kaspar a witness to the alleged crimes of her anesthesiologist colleague? Could she have otherwise testified against him?
First time in my life I’m seeing a doctor who is a psychopath😢 being an Anaesthesiologist myself, it’s gut wrenching 😢
The video, Ortiz's body language shows otherwise.
