This is the best damn comeback I have ever seen in my life. This was after people were calling her a snake, all the Kanye/Kim bs, the Katy Perry crap. She is popping the hell off in this video. Im a late Taylor Swift fan too, she really is all around talented. She writes her own songs, they usually have a deep meaning and tons of subliminal messages in her videos. Plus het music really is fire.
There is a lot of meaning to this video. Almost every drama she has ever had during her entire career is addressed in this video.
But main reason is at the time Kanye and Kim released a video that ruined her reputation, from the starstruck, friendly girl next door to the snake in Hollywood.
This song came out directly after that incident.
But more importantly, About nine years after that incident, the full video came out, and it turns out the original video was edited to make Taylor look bad.
One of Kanye's people was the person who released it to show the truth. I listened to the entire thing before it got deleted from the internet
There is so much tea, primarily it is about the Kanye/Kim drama, mixed with a little Katy Perry which is why we have the "Bad Blood" music video, the streaming company, and what the media says about Taylor about Taylor's friends whom they called the squad. I am assuming you are getting a lot of requests, looking forward to Ready For It.
So the snakes are a reference to Kim Kardashian calling her a snake on Twitter. The entire Reputation album but especially this song and video is a reaction to the absolute shitstorm of media bullshit and backlash from around 2014 to 2017. Kanye getting her on the phone and pretending to bury the hatchet from his classless act at the 2009 VMAs, Kim secretly recording the call so she could edit it later to make Taylor sound like a liar when she dared to say she wasn't happy about the way she was depicted in one of his songs and music videos, the whole feud she had for a while with Katy Perry (which is over now, they dealt with that in 2019), the way the media continued to shit on her for having relationships and writing about them, and the way the entire internet basically piled on in the wake of all this. Like Twitter literally threw a "Taylor Swift is over" party at one point, over what turned out to be Kimye manipulating the facts to make themselves look better. So this album is sort of a reaction to that. And the really delightful part? She did NO press for this album basically. She cut mainstream media off entirely and it was hilarious to watch at the time. They all were CLAMORING for Taylor content because they know it sells and during the Reputation era she gave them basically nothing.

At the end, those are all of her past eras as an artist, from her very first album, being the innocent country girl, to where she’s at now. She’s basically mocking everybody who has criticize her and made fun of her over the years… from celebrities, like Kanye to just a regular people who were very overly critical of her during every era. She was either too sweet, or too annoying, or too loud, or to fake. So she’s over it and she’s just doing her own thing.
Great reaction. This song/MV has A TON of meaning behind it. I'll let someone else explain it all but the important thing is this was her "come back" song/album after being canceled and going into hiding. Again long story but worth learning about to understand this song and album better

So here's the deal: Taylor went through a very hard time because Kim gave the media a recording (illegal) of a phone call that Kanye had with Taylor, where Taylor was trying to be nice and said,, "Uhhh. sure, you can put me in a song..." but she NEVER agreed to have Kanye say, "I think me and Taylor should have sex, I made that bitch famous." But Kim tried to make it like she had agreed to those lines,, and Kim called Taylor A SNAKE. So Taylor decided to just own it and be like, "I love snakes." 😂 But they KILLED THE OLD TAYLOR and made her become vengeful and tough. She lost her innocence. "Look what you made me do." You are right, the silver dress at the end is what Taylor wore to the 2009 MTV music awards when Kanye took the mic out of her hand, a 19 YEAR OLD GIRL. He wouldn't have taken the mic out of the hand of Dwayne THE ROCK Johnson, now would he? Dwayne woulda pushed him off the stage. Kanye''s a f***ing bully because he only picks on people smaller than he is. Well, he can't pick on Taylor anymore, can he? (the rest of the Taylor's are all from different eras of her career, the actual clothes she wore. She is so clever).

Reputation is like an unsolved mystery, there’s still Easter eggs we might know the meaning too but not sure cause there’s like two parts to one Easter egg
The whole Reputation era was a response of what happened in the VMAs 2016 with Kanye and also Kim manipulated her call with Kanye and went on international TV. Taylor was cancelled in the whole world and this traumatized her so much that she made THIS MASTERPIECE and changed her personality and brand. The midia called her fake, false and all pejoractive adjectives you could imagine.
She wanted to show the world she’s more empowered, confident and mean after all of these facts. And that’s why is my favorite album of her!!!! 🐍🖤🖤
I recommend coming back to this video after experiencing so many other ones (this should have been saved for later) to get the full experience of the many, many autobiographical references.

there are so many details that have meaning (easter eggs) to get into all of them and i'm no expert. The different taylors are different iterations of herself, the media has called her a snake, and the moon man taylor referenced when kanye cut her off during her acceptance speech.
I don’t know how much of this you already know. My understanding is that the Kanye VMAs thing happened, but then he made up for it and they were friendly. Then he asked her permission for a lyric in his song over the phone, not mentioning that he would add “I made that bitch famous” to the lyric. So it was a betrayal on his part. And then when she was upset about the lyric, he posted a long video where he accused her of something like “you said it was okay and now you’re trying to stir up drama and turn people against me.” In the video there was a recording with her giving permission, but it was edited so it sounded like she was also giving permission to the bitch lyric, which she had no idea that’s what he was going to say. But the entire media had turned against her at that point, as well as Kanye’s massive fanbase.
In this she’s like, “the old Taylor is dead, I will never be that naieve again.” Kim Kardashian called her a snake, and she really embraced that. “I don’t like your kingdom keys” refers to him inviting her into his world before he betrayed her
Yes one of the diz is when Beyonce said something Taylor said upset her so much at the grammys she got in a car accident lol thats what that was about and at the end all the Taylors were making fun of all the things ppl. have said about her and the dance with the I ❤ TS was a part from the dance all the single ladies and the snakes are all about how ppl truly are behind your back and so on. Taylor is now SAVAGE and i love it. I was like 32 when Taylor first came out and 30 yrs later shes still onn top so yeah😂❤

Reputation was an album totally aimed for all critics, other celebs who talk shit. The whole thing was a fucking masterpiece. My most favorite album of hers, EVER.

I love Reputation. She basically told the media, "NOPE!" while selling out her whole stadium tour for this album. She was basically telling the media that she didn't need to explain to them or need them to sell albums OR concert tickets.
