It always is. I tried putting duct tape on mine.. pulled it off made the painting where the tape was super sticky not sure why. I think I need proper painters tape.

It's a stand. Basically the stand goes over his head and faces down towards the canvas, where the camera can record. Hopefully that clears it up.

I mean, technically it wasn't a mess, it's just laying the base down. All artists have to set a ground work to build up on.
