MSNBC, you need to have more content like this and Mehdi. This is the kind of confrontation that's needed in today's discourse. Mehdi Doesn't let any BS slip by, sticks the facts to him, and keeps nuance and context.
If not for the informative value it's a genuinely entertaining spectator blood sport watching someone get dismantled so thoroughly.

Not as famous people would get verified, though, if they had the right connections with people at Twitter. But Taibbi has a habit of stumbling verbally and stuttering, seeking a way back to his train of thought and everytime he does, Mehdi seizes the opportunity to utterly derail his response, preventing him from even thinking about a proper sentence to capture his thought process.

He regularly employs strawman arguments, reframes questions, uses highly selective appeals to authority, quote mines, cuts people off mid-sentence in order to twist their point into a strawman and of course he loves the classic 'lie by omission' tactic. Mehdi even begin this interview with an attempt to poison the well.

Check my other comment on this video where I literally time stamp one such example. If you can't see the tricks after reading and watching that then I'm afraid there is no hope for you.
Another little moment is where Mehdi states Taibbi is claiming the congress witness was lying under oath, but Taibbi never even suggested that. He goes to object and Mehdi quickly moves on without allowing a rebuttal despite ending the sentence repeating the lie. Taibbi didn't call her a liar, he didn't insinuate it, he didn't even vaguely hint at it.
Taibbi only said he hadn't been given the tweets the witness was referencing and the witness testified later, thus it wasn't possible to publish something he didn't have. This in no way is calling or even hinting at her being a liar but Mehdi just invented that idea and claims Taibbi was saying it.

This is just a way to make money and it's easier than just reporting 100% what factually happened. That doesn't work like it used to in this country. It used to be that facts were facts and that was all that was reported. However, when you do that nowadays you don't get anywhere. Facts don't sell. Conspiracy sells. He just wants to make money and grifting unintelligent idiots who panic at the utterance of the phrase "Da' Govment" does take more effort than just reporting the facts, but it yields much more results. The truth is just the truth. There is no flare to it. It's boring. Truth doesn't SELL. Conspiracy is where it's at. That's how you hook an audience. Get a good enough echo chamber going and you can say or do practically anything. It's not like your followers are going to read about any truth or facts. Just the conspiracies you feed them alone with sustain them. Then they can smugly wave off any studies or factual data presented to them because facts don't matter anymore.
