    I can’t thank you enough for this video. The wrist pan retainer, and the piston rings were a lot harder to install than I anticipated.

    You have the best videos man, really appreciate watching you work. I just bought a 2006 trx500fe. It had a brand new top end put on it. Piston, rings, pin and cylinder. It still had a slap in it, the powersport shop told the guy it was the rod. Is there any chance that an oversized piston pin can be gotten and the upper rod and the piston hole be machined out to accept the oversized pin? Thanks!

    Watching your videos, what other motor is the same as the 700xx? Like the brute force v twins. Praire, bf, kfx.

    Just wondering if a guy could throw a new piston and jug in my forman then have the head decked like a few thousands of a inch? would i make good power or is it even a thing?

    I have the same Wheeler but it's pouring oil in the air box. What could it be? I can ride for a few minutes and it's filled with oil. It's coming from the tube on the left side of the airbox.

    After I put a new head gasket and torqued everything down , I’m guessing coolant is getting pst the gasket bc it leaks out the sides , is gasket maker of some time needed ?

      It also smokes bad

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You shouldn't have any gasket maker on the base or head gaskets. If you put it on the base gasket the gasket will squish out under the pressure of the head bolts and make it leak. You probably messed up your base gasket

    I've always called it a rocker box but where do you get your parts from

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rocker box makes sense. I usually get my oem parts from one of three places. Either mrcycles.com, motorsport.com, or partszilla. The first may take a little longer but is normally cheaper but the last two can get me parts if they have them in stock in a couple days.

    • @FourwheelerDoctor

      @@kcwyrick7947 it's not a bad idea to use it. I usually just oil my parts before putting them back together.

    I see you didnt replace the cylinder it wasnt messed up at all with the wrist pin having play? Also did you measure the bore to see what over size piston/ rings you needed?

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had the original cylinder bored to match the oversized piston I purchased from Honda. I also purchased to same size oversized rings to match the size of the new piston. If the cylinder is not scratched up deep I normally just go the first oversized piston which is 0.25 mm. This will clean of the cylinder walls and straighten out any imperfections in the cylinder. This also will allow for more borings down the road if needed since Honda does Offer Up to a 1.00 MM oversized piston.

      Yes the base gasket is shown at 31:10 and the head gasket is shown at 38:45.

    basically i am trying not to pull apart the engine, and would hope the machine shop could do the connecting rod while in the motor.

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to spit the case in order to get the crank apart to get the connecting rod out.

    • @mikecochrane2074
      @mikecochrane2074 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FourwheelerDoctor yea, I was hoping that there was a way around that, by just doing an oversized wrist pin. and just making the piston hole and the rod hole a very small amount larger to accomodate the size and tolerances.

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikecochrane2074 I've never heard of anybody doing that but that's not to say it can't be done. I don't know if you have that much room on the Piston to make the wrist pin much bigger nor that much room on the end of the rod to make that much bigger. Then there's a chance that it may be the big end of the rod that's making the noise down at the crankshaft

    • @mikecochrane2074
      @mikecochrane2074 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FourwheelerDoctor yes, i thought about that too. I can feel the play in the wrist pin and rod, but not so much the lower rod and journal. I am looking at getting the crank and rod assembly, just not sure about spending all that money. But yea, if i tear it down, i will be studying your videos, thanks for your time brother!

    Honda manual says it crucial that the top and second ring end gaps are only 120 degrees from each other you put yours in 180 from each other

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's critical that the gaps aren't lined up. It's really according on which manual you look at on how they say the gaps should be but they all say don't let the gaps line up.
