Quaresma said he started kicking like this because as a child his feet were crooked (inward). And he kicked only like this...thats why is too good with trivela
@@johncarter1288 wow i spent my childhood in Jardim da Estrela! i'm almost 2 decades younger than quaresma but it's great to know that he used to go there as well, i had no idea
The black and white Jersey team is a Turkish team called Besiktas and as a Turkish I feel really lucky cause he played in Turkey for a lot of years and gave me the opportunity to watch him live
The kick he did with his right side of the right foot is called the Trivela, and Quaresma is known to be the king of the Trivela. In all time skill, he would probably rank top 5.
Hmm I wonder what the “unanimous” list of skill would be. For dribbling it’s probably players like Ronaldinho, Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, CR7 but it’s hard to differentiate between skill moves and dribbling gods like Messi who just run through people. There are also lots of midfielders with finesse all time like Zidane and Pirlo. Skill is so hard to judge lol. Quaresma had hella flair at the end of the day
@@aze4964 In terms of skill and creativity idk I think he's definitely among the top 10 at least in the last 20 years I mean many people will mention Messi but isn't creative his dribbling is simple but also perfect
yes he is the king of the rabonas and Trivelas(that shot he does with the outside of the foot) and if he had the discipline we could now say that he is one of the goats. When he played with Ronaldo at Sporting everyone tought Quaresma was going to be the next great star, that didnt happened
I remember this very young kid showing up on my local garden grounds in Lisbon, he would be around 11 or 12 years old and brake ankles of kids around 16 / 17 years old and even older, including myself. That was impressive AF Much respect to Quaresma.
The story behind the outside of foot shot is that he was born with a crooked foot , and when he was a child he used to use that shoot just naturally. And coaches used to be mad at him because they wanted him to shot in a certain way and he used the outside of the foot. He can also use the left (and is good with it) but I guess he is more confident with the outside of foot.
It’s called a trivela man such a joy I get to have watched this man play along Ronaldo and the greats 🇵🇹 fun fact him and Ronaldo are long time friends, they went to sporting academy when they were young ! His trivela and curved to perfection passes are so good we say here that “Um passe do quaresma é meio golo” - “a pass from quaresma is half a goal” Grew up learning to kick trivela cuz my left foot my boy is he a stinker 😂
This man used to shoot with outside of his foot. That's how he got the ball to curve like that. Unique skill right there. Absolute talent plagued by injuries.
Watching quaresma gives me the chills. I love watching his videos. Vamos Portugal 🇵🇹 Hate to say it but for me it goes luis figo, Ricardo quaresma and then Cristiano Ronaldo but Ronaldo is the all time goat 🐐 siuuuuu
He's like everything you want in a ''traditional'' winger but he can still cut inside and score because of how good his outside-of-the-boot shots are. In the modern game the wide players/wingers are a part of the forward line so their job is to score goals and assist. That's why some of the best players - CR7, Mbappe, Salah, Robben and Neymar to name a few examples - play on the right or left side of the main striker, usually in a 4-3-3 line up. Those ''inside-forwards'' players like the ones I mentioned are usually played on the wing opposite of their strong foot. Meaning a left footed inside/wide-forward will play on the right wing on the pitch so he can cut inside and shoot using their strong foot. Around two decades ago the most common line up of teams was 4-4-2 where the wingers were more like a part of the midfield line and were usually played on the wing that matches their strong foot. Their job was primarily to dribble past their opponents and get to the byline before crossing the ball with their strong foot into the opposition box for the two strikers and maybe a midfielder that's joining the attack. Think of players like Beckham, Luis Figo or Ryan Giggs. Quaresma is such a unique player because he's right footed but can still fill those two roles even when playing on the right wing. That's why he uses the rabona so much after beating opponents, by faking the cross with his right by moving the ball to his left side/foot, as the rabona allows him to use his stronger foot for the cross/pass. Same story when he cuts inside where the inside-out ''travela'' technique allows him to curve the ball into the far corner with his right foot. Hope this explanation helps!
And to add a little bit to that essay right there: He's often been deployed on the left wing as well and can obviously play on either side. But when he's playing with his national team Portugal he's been used on the right wing because of a someone named Ronaldo is used on the left and you when CR7 is on your team you can't do anything else then play him in his best position and accommodate the rest of the team to him. When Portugal won the Euro's in 2016 they had CR7 on the left and Quaresma on the right in their forward line.
Quaresma at a young age was already at Barcelona but there was already stars and veterans there and quaresma said he was 2 young and he didn't want to wait for his chance made some bad decisions and thats why is career never went to superstar level but he is still the trivela king and one of the main reasons we won the euro cup in 2016
