    I put a deposit down on this model in Aug. and literally picked it up today. Great action with a full-bodied sound. It comes with a hard shell case with beautiful deep green interior. And it feels just right, unlike a dreadnought. Perfect!

    The best review and such great playing!
    I was confused about buying this Martin guitar or the Taylor 314ce. You've got me convinced, this is The One!
    Thanks a lot!

    What a superb review. It's nice to listen to such a balanced review by someone who doesn't think that an acoustic guitar has to be thrashed to get the best out of it. Well done.

    Great review and I agree with others... probably the best out there. Excellent playing and recording job also. So much so that you have convinced me that this is the one I should get, since I will use it mostly for recording. I tried it in a store a few days ago and compared it to a Martin DM15. I kept coming back to the GPCPA4 because I liked the sound so much. Thank you very much!

    When I noodled on one of these in the store recently, it was love at first strum. For those of you who haven't tried one of these models, you owe it to yourself to try one. This is an amazing guitar. I'll likely buy one when I make my next purchase.

    Had this guitar for about 3 years now and I absolutely love it! I'm planning on replacing the Fishman system with the K&K. But just by ear its a joy to play and listen to!

  • @dcool2u2
    @dcool2u2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm so glad a bought this model. The tone and tune knobs with the digital display on the top is perfect for me. I play through a good sound system, but I use a cover on the sound hole to stop feedback.
    I want to buy a new Martin to upgrade. But for some crazy reason, Martin decided to put the knobs inside the guitar, under the strings. Even if I didn't use the cover this seems like a really unfortunate position. You have to stick your fingers through the strings to get to the controls.
    I couldn't imagine having to do that while performing in stage in front of an audience.
    I wonder who brainstormed this little slice of engineering.

      You still have the Taylor 314ce? .....Amazing that I have been eyeing that one as of late....I have the Martin GPCPA4 for its full sound and playability, but suffers in cutting through with a full band with 6 singers at a time....In what capacity are you using your Taylor in?

    I was just yesterday trying some martin and yamaha guitars here in Germany. When I played some accords with It is was clear for me that I wanted it.
    The sound unplugged/plugged is incredible (very balanced), first I wanted the dreadnought form, but as a beginner it was not so comfortable for me so at the end I went with the GP form and I happy with it.
    This review confirms my evaluation, thanks Psalm33three :-)

    This guitar also comes in a rosewood back and sides model. I know b/c I have one. I am surprised this guy does not mention this? Rosewood has a lot better tone than the sappele model does. Just something to think about if you are considering this model.

    Hi there! Awesome review! :) You explained very well! Um, I'm wondering about something. I don't have much knowledge of guitars, but I started playing about 1 and a half year ago, and I'm nearly addicted to play now, haha! I go music school, and I've asked a guitar teacher there and friends of mine what they think of this guitar, or what type of guitar I should buy (since I want to buy a new one). So, I understand I should try the guitars myself, but does this guitar fit best for solo playing or as a part of a band? My friend said it looked to be more of a band-guitar, and I'm after playing by myself mostly, y'know :P So, does this guitar fit for that? :)

    • @psalm33three

    Is this intro sound of your guitar, if that it the case than it really sounds gorgeous, but even those after when you is nicely done and sound is beautiful.I always liked and wished to have mahagony guitar especially Martin but never had it, I always end up with Indian Rosewood which is not bad thing but hog is warmer and much easier to record.

    Hey man great review. I just wanted to tell you how much I like your style of play. I'm fairly new to guitar more advanced than those who starting now. I just needed to know if you can send tutorials of the chords you play in this video. I'm truly appreciate it. I've been watching your guitar videos over and over. Also it's nice that other video that you have demonstrating the chords you like to use in church. I have it as a guide to reach myself everyday. I love especially the ending strum part. It was my favorite just asking if you are going to be sending the tabs for what you did. Your great bro. Keep it up. I'll be waiting for you to be a star soon man. Dope.

      Not sure if I can make tabs for you as I've never done that before.. But I do plan to make another video of chord variations in G, in which I'll probably go through some chords used here. Hopefully that'll help :)

    This is one of the clearest, most concise and informative reviews I have seen regarding this model and any other model for that matter, thank you for your time and effort with this. I am considering this guitar as well as the Taylor 214ce DLX. Both somewhat similar in design but very different in sound quality and tone. One of the criticisms of the GPCPA4 is that is sounds more "Taylor-like" (hardly a criticism in my opinion). Have you found this to be true. A bit lacking in the lower tones and a bit brighter than most Martins? I still think is sounds wonderful. Thanks again!

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris, thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah that's true - most other Martins I've played do have more depth and 'woodiness' - but perhaps the brighter tone of the GPCPA4 is what makes it more stage-friendly.
      Having said that, it still sounds pretty different from a Taylor :)

    • @chrisgraham887
      @chrisgraham887 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +psalm33three Well, i bought one yesterday and couldn't agree with you more about the sound quality. It does have a unique sound and one that I seem to be partial too. I think This guitar lends itself to more options. Thanks again for the great review! c

    I'm a worship leader and I've had my eye on the new 2014 Taylor 814ce but I think I'm changing my mind to the Martin gpcpa4 rosewood. And the Martin is more than half the price of the Taylor but uses the same woods except for the fretboard. So the Martin seems more ideal for me.

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The two NT5's are set up in ORTF configuration.. one is pointing directly away from the camera so it's a bit harder to see.

    • @Celticsaint777
      @Celticsaint777 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      How far away from the guitar are the mics? What is the center point between the mics? Is it the sound hole? Again, what you are doing sounds great.

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both mics are around 15-20cm from the guitar and the sound hole is in the centre. You may have to play around with mic distance to keep the stereo spread uniform and the low end centred (it's a bit too far left in this video). Hope that helps.

    Psalm33tree great work. Though, I have a fender Tim Armstrong dreadnought for beginners. I could play better now so I wanna get me gig budgeted 1500+ taxes. I play in the church, more of contemporary gospel like hillsongs, Israel Houghton etc.... I'm really torn btw Taylor 310ce E2 and GPAPA4 or the 5.
    Please whats your thought on these 3.

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, the Taylor 310ce is a great guitar as well but sounds and feels quite different to the Martin GPCPA4. I would suggest visiting a music store that has both and playing them one after the other for a while.. soon you'll figure out which one feels/sounds more natural for your playing style. Either guitar would be well suited to playing in church though :)

    nice guitar sound, playing and review :) what do you think about its plugged sound?

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I personally think the plugged in sound is very impressive but it depends a lot on what you plug it into - a better quality PA system will make it sound more punchy and full. The only downside is the single mid-scoop control which can be limiting... if that's a problem, adding in a graphic EQ stompbox will give you more flexibility.

    Hey, so maybe a dumb question but is it worth as a beginner to get a martin guitar? im playing since october last year on an about 100 bucks guitar. so far its been okay, but last month i played a martin in san francisco und since then i almost cant stand the sound of my guitar anymore. its okay but i always have the martin sound in my ears so...
    i don't know if i should wait or maybe start to save up some money to get one i like if i can afford it.
    and very nice video, ure a good guitar player and it's a good review.

      The answer is, if you are absolutely committed to learning the guitar, YES. It is far far better to learn on a nice guitar than on a piece of crap. It will increase your motivation to practice, and you will likely become better, faster. I wish I had the choices that are out there when I started.

    ..The neck looks a bit wide and the strings a little farther apart than usual......maybe it's just me.....I'm not sure whether that would be good or bad, perhaps it would be easier to pick that way...Sounds real good...I have a good sounding Martin already, but was checking this one out...

    fantastic. Im considering buying one myself but I'm conflicted between this or the OM model. What songs are are you playing? they were great

    You should compare that guitar with a Taylor 314 CE just to see which one is more brighter

    Hello there and God Bless You! Love this video and love the sound of this guitar! Anyway, since I would like to have a new guitar, I have a question. What is the best worship guitar you know? I mean this is amazing, but I don't know how much it cost and I have a low budget to buy a new guitar. What do you think about the Taylor 214ce?
    Any suggestions? :) m
    Thanks and God Bless

      @psalm33three  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you for your comment. The Taylor 214CE is a nice guitar. If your budget only goes that far it would be a good purchase for church use but if you can make the stretch to get an all solid wood guitar I think it's definitely worth it.

      how do you think this gpcpa4 or taylor 314ce. Which one do you recommend for worship service? And pickup system as well? Thanks

    • @ipsofacto6864
      @ipsofacto6864 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the gpca4 is definitely good for church service, the Taylor 314 I find sounds better at a seance or other pagan activity. If you're trying to transcend time and space I'd recommend a larrivee.

    Does the martin gpcpa4 acoustic electric guitar has a gloss top ? and what kind of care product is suitable for it ?

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it has a gloss top. Not sure about which care products to buy, I just give it a cloth rub down once in a while :)

    Hi, is the action of this model hard or soft to fingerstyle?. I love the action of Taylor to fingerstyle but I prefer the sound of Martin.

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not the most comfortable for fingerstyle in my experience, I'd suggest lowering the action after purchase.

    Hi. Very nice review and also awesome playing! What kind of stings do do you have exactly on it? I mean the thickness. Is it light (12-53) or medium light (12-56) or an other kind of the elixiers? Have a good night! (Greetings from Germany 😉)

    • @psalm33three
      @psalm33three  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Hanspeter. I mostly use 11-52 gauge Elixir phosphor bronze strings. I think they're called Custom Light.
