    Gamergate was not about finding out the industry was fake and reviews were given scores for BS reasons, it was about finding out they were all collectively getting into group-chats with each other literally talking about what kinds of articles they were going to publish, what the "themes" of the articles would be, and how all of this was designed from the ground up to push a left-wing narrative. Anyone who says it's just about some girl sleeping with a reviewer has not looked very deeply into the topic.

    • @NathanCassidy721
      @NathanCassidy721 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s not really correct. It STARTED out with people calling out reviewers and devs for obvious conflicts of interest and corruption. But as we dig deeper it was revealed that it went much deeper than that and it expanded beyond gaming.
      The best analogy was it started as a drug bust of two meth heads that gradually revealed it was part of a large cartel working with the government.

    Thank you! I'm a female gamer since the Atari 5200. I am still looking for this "blatant sexism" stuff. 30 years gaming, and I don't know what people are talking about. Here are the facts. Not my personal experience. These are facts:
    1. Women gamers have exploded in the last several decades. There are certainly more female gamers now than there were when I first started. If the industry was really that sexist, then we would not see that increase.
    2. The lack of female gamers in the early 70s to the mid-2000s was not the result of marketing only to males. This implies that there was no such thing as failed marketing. Any Marketing Class 101 can give you a million case studies of failed marketing strategies where an uninterested demographic, the wrong demographic, or missed opportunity to advertise to a sizable demographic, happened. Games were advertised to males in the late 80s and early 90's due to the fact that males really were the primary demographic of players. If you look at commercials before the gaming crash, they were advertised as family things. Now, imagine you are an investor in the 1980's and a company we'll call Nintendo just approached you to fund a console development. The last several companies that tried this idea just failed within a couple decades. Would you just give them money without an industry-researched marketing strategy? Would you provide them with money when marketing research showed they were ignoring a huge demographic in their advertising strategy? Not in a million years!
    3. The increase in female gamers is due to reaching technical milestones in game development, not because of activism or calls for more equality. Three things specifically attracted female gamers: a) games became more social. I would argue that World of Warcraft was the ground zero to the female gaming explosion. b) games looked better. People looked like people and a tree looked like a tree c) Games became a storytelling medium. They became less about competition and who go the higher score. In other words, females would have played more games anyway.

      The ageist policies are ageist, the sexual harrassment training is sexist and the equality policies are racist; yet, no criticism is allowed...

    I have the same backstory cliff, Mister Metokur, or Internet Aristocrat as he was known during the time I discovered him, is the same reason I became "red-pilled" and "woke up" so to speak. Funny thing, I was actually very left leaning before hand. I find it funny how much power one influential, charismatic figure can hold over the minds of people, though of course history has taught us this lesson many times before, we just choose to ignore it either willfully or in ignorance. But a single video, "Quinnspiracy Theory", sparked a rabbit hole which my 21 year old self would climb down into, eventually resulting in my personal "red-pilling".
    And I'll always thank Jim for that. He's remained a legend in my mind for that particular reason - though if I know Jim he'd vehemently deny his legendary status, and insist on calling himself "just some troll/random dude on the internet who makes fun of morons".
    However these days I don't know if I'd call Jim red pilled anymore. I'd say he's more so on that border, if not having crossed over already yet, of being "black pilled". You know, the mind set of, "it's already happened, there's nothing we can do to prevent or fight it because I already tried that with GamerGate and it didn't work, and now they're coming for our culture and it will only be a matter of time before they come for us so all we can do is sit back, laugh, and watch the mushroom clouds go off in the distance while we wait". Don't get me wrong, I've come extremely close to being black pilled as well, a sort of "surf the Kali Yuga" mentality but without all the weird Aryan dominance shit. But you don't have to look far to see that GamerGate had a massively profound effect that woke up hundreds of thousands, if not even millions of people - both gamers and regular folks alike. It showed us that we CAN fight back against this bullshit, and it's because of Jim and people like him, Razorfist being a big example, showing us how to fight back and "arming us" to do so - so to speak - that I'll always point to one simple saying...
    "It ain't over, 'till it's over"

    Nathan Grayson didn't write a review of Depression Quest but he did speak of the "game" favorable in two different articles without informing the reader that he was friends with the creator. His name even shows up during the end credits under Thank You or something similar I think it was. If Grayson had a sexual relationship with her or not doesn't actually matter. You don't need a degree in journalism to realize this sort of thing is not okay. And he wasn't the only game journalist guilty of this.

      Idk im convinced secular and dogmatic are tainted in common discourse. What I mean is when you really get down to it religious, spiritual, colonizing, atheist, patriotism, ect. really form down to power and human interaction in a low resolution form. Seeing the categorization as different is extremely useful, but what we are seeing now is where the categorization circles back on itself to become the same original forces. I guess im saying we're in a tower of babel moment, where the categorization is tumbling down to be the origin forces

    • @armouredgideon949

      @@assortmentofpillsbutneverb3756 I think it's very difficult to base a human system on qualities other than what you've described. Fair enough as well, some ideologies are built on traits that are less than equitable. We're very imperfect :)
      My favourite piece of graffiti I've seen read 'The price of freedom is responsibilty'
      Which extends to all of us, and can be a form of interaction not solely based in, or aiming towards unequally distributed power.
      Good point though. What underpins function often decides the sustainability of an ideology or practice.
      Let's see those origin forces in their bare form, and feel free to decide their worth in our lives as individuals, or as accountable and open groups.

      @assortmentofpillsbutneverb3756 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@armouredgideon949 you've nailed it on the head! I really do believe it's the conflict of the tower of babel. Its that constant conflict of us nearing "god" through thought and action to find out we are just off the mark driving us back to more base forms. To me the real ideological and personal struggle as a community should be how to near "god" (utopia) better and interpersonally how to accept the base form and integrate to move further. Its why drama exists... the knifes balance between what is culturally right, biologically right, and interpersonally right is too thin for someone to reach.
      Basically the complex forms are true for a time, but the simple truths are true for an age. The more centralized the complex truths become the less categorical they become, driving them back towards the base. The more base they are, the more they are driven to complexity to address the issue. Duality in these ideas is where human interpretation comes into play, and real life drama unfolds

'Saecularis' was made to signify of the earth, its creation caused by the ignorance of centralised ruling clergy and their inability to understand the challenges faced by working farmers, labourers, etc.
      It was necessary to understand what was of the earth, to comprehend function. Also, to still separate it from the apparently divine.
      I know which crowd I'd rather party with, and it's the free crowd that seeks individuality, knowledge, and self-sufficiency.
      I think in the future, technology may be able to take us towards post scarcity, and the furthest stars, although it can never teach us the resilience, or depth of our souls.

    I went through my teens and twenties in the 1990's. Back then if you were lame and had no personality the only thing you could do to hide it was to get every orifice on your body pierced and tattooed everywhere. It hit critical mass to the point where you had to get them on your face and neck.
    Now instead of a new tattoo or piercing, you just add another pronoun to your social network profile and you're good. Though I think we're hitting that wall now too. Once you get to the point where you refer to yourself in the plural, there isn't much further to go.
