It wasn't "framed" as being cancelled. They fully set up expectations for a season 2. There was literally a post credit scene teasing the future plot. Like in the Marvel movies. I really want shows to stop spending their final 10 minutes on setup, or ending in cliffhangers. A 2nd season is so unlikely these days so they're just leaving people extra disappointed.
Episodes gets better and better. I think the same way that’s why I love this show. It sucks that it was cancelled. I wan to know how the threat will be discovered and how will Charles respond when he discovers who is the mastermind. And will Alexis and Charles Ship
Like sooo many series, it kept getting better & better. Netflix dropped the ball on this one. Cliff hanger after credits left me elated & quickly came on to see 'when'. Soooo DISAPPOINTED. Mamma is BADASS! I love shows that show women in power! Good review by the way! I am back-stage Theatre & I get exactly what you're saying!!!
I loved the series and didn’t understand why it was cancelled, but because of your explanation I get it now. It makes sense now. Thank you for breaking it down! Great explanation!
Thank you for your efforts on this review. I have watched the series on 3 days and most of the points you mentioned resonate with me. I personally like the slow build up and it attracts me to watch a movie and a show, specially when I see potential, that's why I didn't mind it. I would like to add something but I am not sure how to express it. The transition between English and mandarin/Taiwanese mid conversations didn't feel right to me. Sometimes it is justified, but many times I don't understand the switch. What do you say? And yes, I felt that the show writers lost their compass at the end. And didn't know how to end the show.
I loved the Series. The action and comedy in it was enjoyable. I would still recommend that my network would introduce it to their network and that their network would hopefully would introduce it to their network’s network
Love the show. Gave me peaky bkinder vibes. I thinknthe brother was off but the rest of the cast was spot on. Not saying the brother can't develop, but that's my only issuem rest of the story and characters was great. Really wish we could get season 2 and beyond. Great show!
Honestly (and sadly), I think its appeal was limited by the fact that it stars an almost entirely Asian cast and isn't based on any prior work or franchise. You really have to notice how much Netflix hyped up the Avatar the Last Airbender remake and kept patting themselves on the back for having an Asian cast and showrunner, and yet they didn't really promote Brothers Sun at all. I think they only really did that for Avatar because it's a well-known brand, and if the brand isn't there, then they won't stick their neck out for a show focusing on that population. I'm not sure how Beef and Blue Eye Samurai were able to succeed in spite of that while this one didn't. I guess you could just say those shows are better, which I do think they are. But I'm pretty certain that a show like this with a mostly white cast probably would've been renewed, regardless of the show's actual quality.
this video is pretty much nitpicks and just wrong, you can't call the first ep "cliche" or "not engaging", it laid out the entire plot & mysteries to be solved all in front of you & displayed the comedy charm it had, there was nothing wrong with it, expecting more is just stupid. tv shows aren't movies, they're always slower, people managed to watch GoT and it's one of the most loved yet slow TV shows on the planet, no one is going to shit themselves over 1 episode being "bad" (even though it wasn't) then drop the entire series, unless they have never watched a tv show before. you compliment the build up and how each episode gets better, i promise you this would not be a thing if they did more with episode 1, you're pretty much contradicting yourself > you hate how episode 1 didn't have enough going on for you > but you love every episode after? it was literally linear pacing where in each episode something new was unraveled, there was no sudden boost in pacing or sudden change in story, the plot was the same from ep 1 till the end. each episode progressed the same, so you're just speaking nonsense. prematurely judging the show is just a fault of yours, not a problem with the show the language shit is another nitpick and almost entirely irrelevant to the show, this is clearly directed towards english people. just because it's based on taiwan and triads doesn't mean it has to be in their language or situated in taiwan, they quickly abandon taiwan and move to an english speaking state, this should've been the first obvious sign that this is clearly for english speakers. they did fit in non-english portions which was immersive and reminded you where they're really from, most people watching don't speak taiwanese or know shit about taiwan nor triads, so majority does not care about it or notice its supposed flaws, we were all watching for the plot, not the accuracy in culture and language 😭this would just be an extra minor detail to maintain and effort that could be spent elsewhere on more meaningful aspects of the show. people who're from taiwan or know shit about triads or taiwan's culture can dislike it, but they can't act like that tiny factor should bring the show down or be involved in why it got cancelled, it was executed well enough and believable, asking for more on top of everything else it's doing is unreasonable, it's not a fucking tv show + documentary with a billion dollar budget lmao, you can only find so many good actors that can speak good english while also speak any mandarin at all or whatever they were speaking the one thing i agree on with you is the kid acting the young chairleg scene, that mf is NOT an actor 🤣🤣other than that, it feels like you were reaching for straws and just nitpicking nonsense and saying shit like "cliche" "not engaging" then not expanding on what you meant by this, just "oh yeah cliche this cliche that!" like dawg.. it's a triad/gang series.. they're not gonna be fighting aliens and fly like superman, the word cliche cannot be used to describe a show that does something correctly just because you've seen a shit ton of similar thing based on the same thing, then basically admit ignorance to what triads act like, like what? 😭😭"this was cliche!" "we don't really know how triads act" the show works within the world it created and did it really well in reality, the only reason this show doesn't get a season 2 is the advertising was bad, they had a large budget (clearly), these 2 things don't mix well and resulted in poor viewership meaning poor returns on their investment. i literally got this show recommended to me yesterday... THIS SHIT CAME OUT DAMN NEAR A YEAR AGO!!💀💀this should tell you how BADLY they handled the show in terms of actually getting on the screens of their viewers they had a great product and said "hey! let's hide it! 🤫" "wait.. 😱!?!? it didn't earn anything after we hid it? 🤯" "CANCEL IT!! 🤬" absolute clowns these netflix people 🤡🤡all about numbers and shit, but they can't even advertise their highest potential movies or shows? then they have the audacity to cancel it like they didn't see this coming, good one netflix, i'm paying a monthly subscription to get dog shit continued then all the good shit cancelled, wtf are these clowns doing, it's just dog shit tv shows and old tv shows then the few good ones just never see the light of day again
It’s great you like the show but I disagree about the language thing. It’s a personal pet peeve of mine, if you can take time to train the fighting you can take time to train the language. If you don’t mind it that’s fine but everyone has their own points that care about when watching something. Personally I think it’s a bit of a bigger deal than you think this show was trying to be authentic but it failed a little in that area. Thanks for the comments!
What did you think of this show? Do you agree with my observations about the portrayals of Taiwan?
There should be a season 2. I loved the series because each episode got better.

Yeah I guess it was a huge miscalculation by the creators, better not to be so over confident

SO SAD!! It was such a bad ass show
I loved the series and didn’t understand why it was cancelled, but because of your explanation I get it now. It makes sense now. Thank you for breaking it down! Great explanation!
It’s a good series for sure, hopefully they keep making more stuff like it
you are totally right! I also feel the show would be much better if they can find someone who speak better Taiwanese.

Brothers Sunday was really great ..liked it a lot
They need to have a season 2 and wrapped up after the second season. The ending gave us hope of a second season.

This show should have been renewed. The characters were hillarious! So entertaining! Netflix sucks!

This wa an awesome show. One of the best on netflix. Pure entertainment! Netflix sucks!
Bro shut up the show was good period the stuff your saying isn't relevant
Ok, why do you think it was cancelled?

Also there are tons of actors with great Chinese and English they shot this show in Taiwan where I could find you a full cast of them.
