2:40:18 I'm glad one of the boys knows about the dictatorship period in Korea. The re-education I think refers to the period where the government (which is under military law at the time) would kidnap college students who were identified as rebels (participated in strikes or protests) and sent to prison, got tortured, and basically "re-educated" to obey the government by being crippled physically and mentally. There are some really good movies about this era as well if anyone interested: A Taxi Driver, 1987, May 18, The Attorney
My favorite GRRM advice I've heard him give is if your character is this brilliant poet and you, the author, is not, _never_ write this character's poetry.
It’s the same issue with morality. Superheroes are at an all time low for likability, not saving anyone, not caring about the consequences of their actions, overall just murderhobos but the thing is, you need to have morals to write a morally upstanding character character
2:44:20 actually I'm not convinced that it's when you die you turn, because after Chad gets bit, his eyes start glazing and he starts coughing/screaching like one of them while he's still actively fighting them off. this also goes for asshole businessman while he's sitting in the train cab having his speech about wanting to go to his mom. Both of them turn without fully dying first.

Around 8:51, Rags mentions how he thinks if the film stayed in the train the entire time, it would have gotten dull. He obviously has not seen Snowpiercer.
Well to be fair, each bogie of the train in Snowpiercer was like a brilliant and different world and it changed with the motivations of the characters.
“Hobo-man” is the pig farmer from the beginning (that drove through the decontamination checkpoint and hit the infected deer). He is saying ‘everyone is dead’ as that implies that only he made it out of the area.
I'm fairly certain that it's incorrect. They look pretty different, especially their teeth. Farmer guy had pretty crooked teeth, while hobo-man's were fairly normal. Also Hobo-man being the pig farmer wouldn't make any sense logistically.
If one person had taken command at the beginning and organised everyone sensibly, nobody would need to die from the beginning to the end of this movie.
I think the weird part of the zombie sins video is that some of the issues he brings up are things that he explains in his praise video. I'm returning to this after watching "All of Us Are Dead." Curious what they think about it, I don't think it was all that floompy. Edit: After rewatching the coverage, All of Us Are Dead had a lot of the good aspects they praised Train to Busan for-- but I think it has quite a few issues.
The only flaw, a slight one, is that once they discover the zombies are passive or blinded in tbe tunnels darkness, they should have waited for night to fall before acting. Sound would still be an issue, but it would be an advantage.
2:33:59 this part annoyed me cuz it was the only real flaw I could find in the film. It is just a contrivance, but it allows the rest of the film to happen How I would’ve done it is show the woman watching him, so we know it’s not a chance but she was waiting, and instead of having him turn, have someone call him over to ask about all the commotion that’s happening (due to the outbreak), which is much tighter and can give some more world building
1. I hate the old woman letting the zombies in to get revenge on people for not saving her sister. I get why she did it, but it just makes me hate her. 2. I honnestly don't get why, when they need to change trains, our characters all get out in the middle of the day. We know darkness makes zombies pathetically weak, protagonist knows this. Were I him, I would have gone for 2 scenarios: A/ Get out by myself, tell the others to remain in the wagon, run to find the conductor and tell him to wait for nightfall before changing trains. That way they can all easily and safely enter another train. Then once they start it up and it makes noise, they're all safely in the cabin anyway so no risk. B/ Wait for nightfall, and walk by night only all the way to busan. They must be most of the way there anyway, and considering how small Korea is it must be at most a week's journey. Travel at night when you're completely safe, take turns sleeping during the day. All you need is a bunch of rocks to throw in order to drive zombies away, assuming they get close. Instead they all get out during the day and start running to avoid the zombies. I don't get it at all. If anyone has an explanation, I'm happy to hear it.
Easy explanation that Mauler himself provides. Because communication has been cut off, there are going to be trains coming into the station and crashing into the trains already stopped. Therefore, waiting in the train is potential risk because another train could smash into the train they're staying inside. Additionally, at this point, the protagonists have no reason to assume that the zombies can escape from the train carriages they're trapped inside. Your B plan assumes that they could find a place to hole up in the middle of the day while travelling to Busan. That seems relatively hard considering Korea is pretty urbanized.
@@Birthday888 Hey, thanks for the reply. Tbh I didn't know there was another train coming. I won't rewatch the film, so I'll trust you on that and say that it's a good explanation as to why they leave during the day. As for the "Korea is urbanized' part, A lot of it yes. But aren't there a lot of fields and forests going by through the windows of the train? In fact (going from memory), the area next to their end goal is like one railroad surrounded by trees. I assume at this point leaving the station and walking 15 extra minutes would get them in the countryside (but I would need to check on Google map in which town they are exactly, to make sure). Still, I suppose a forest wouldn't be entirely safe, as we know animals can turn too. Still a lot safer than a city

He lets out a sigh and then a plastic smile. “Under the Biden administration,” he says, carefully “There will be a few new rules. It will be forbidden to cook,” The crowd gasps. “Everyone will have to eat McDonalds,” Jill hangs her head in shame. “You may have to charge your phone. You may have to twerk. Hell, you may even have to be bisexual.” An uproar starts in the crowd, but Biden ushers a silence with his next words “But it will all be worth it when we as a people can eat hot chip and lie. Thank you.” Biden leaves the podium to a thunderous applause. America is saved.
My wife and I just watched this movie today. So much good here. Probably the best movie I've seen in years. But some parts at the end lost me. Like the old lady opening the car to kill everyone is insane and on top of that the people barricading the less dangerous door first is insanity. Like to me no level of paranoia can justify it.
Well, I think both scenarios make sense given the context. The people in the car essentially killed or are at least responsible for the death of the old lady's sister, out of their own paranoia. And in tense situations, people tend towards actions that preserve the status quo instead of disrupting it. At that point, they're not thinking logicaally, they just want to preserve their current situation for as long as possible because it means they're still alive. Plus, you don't need to barricade the doors for the zombies because all you have to do is block their line of sight (as far as they know, anyway). And the doors are partially translucent. The survivors don't have that limitation. Like people who commit suicide, are paranoid, or are being sucked into mob mentality aren't logical or reasonable.
them barricading the "wrong" side, is because the other side is dumb zombies that had no idea how to open a door, compared to the ones that they believe are infected by the virus who are smart enough to open doors and stuff.
South Korean movies are goodtimes. Like "A Bittersweet Symphony", "The Host", "A Dirty Carnivale", "The Veteran", "A Taxi Driver", "I'm A Cyborg, but that's OK", "Welcome to Donkgmokgol", etc."
Given how South Korean soldiers have behaved historically, I bet that they would just be EXCITED to have the kind of free-fire that zombies provide. Just go nuts. Least the special forces and such.
My only issue with the Wow Such Gaming coverage is that it's full parody. Zackazz (the owner of the channel) actually really loves this movie but he does this with all zombie movies, including his favorite, Shaun of the Dead.
These "cinema sins" like content really makes me doubt if these authors are even human (anymore) the more I see how they respond to human behavior and interaction.

The original MauLer channel video is unavailable, presumably for copytism reasons, so it seems likely that this was the solution to that. That World War Z movie tarnished the name of one of the best zombie books of all time... and I Am Legend they weren't so much zombies as they are vamps... and a fantastic anti zombie material boo ones thinks about... carpet it's everywhere, easy to make a coat out of, and damn near impossible for a human to bite thru or tear apart with their bare hands... so carpet coat for the win lol
Zombies are attracted to sound. Stop the train in a tunnel. Put a phone outside with an alarm. Open the doors. Alarm goes off. Zombies exit train. Leave. Film end.
The final death felt a bit cheap to me because it seemed avoidable, but that could just be because it's done so often. If this was the first movie I'd ever seen it would have been very effective.
Glad I'm not the only one who naturally started referring to blue-suit guy as Chad. That being said, I hate Chad's death. Everything would've been fine if the rest of them had just bloody HELPED. Two of them has bats; just start pushing the zombie assholes back. As soon as there was a lull in the situation (when they realize the door was locked), more should've gone back to help. Their priorities should've immediately switched from finding a way forward to sealing the way back.
That buys you time to slow the zombies down, yes, but while that’s happening the door in front would be closed and then they’re all fucked. There were too many zombies at the door for them to be stopped, the door couldn’t be closed to do the newspaper trick on the zombies, and they would have just been overrun eventually by the literal dozens of zombies chasing them. Their best bet was to have “Chad” hold the door until they could get into the other safe compartment then have him run across and jump through the gap then slam the door on the zombies. It was a race against time and maybe staying behind to hold the door would have bought more time but then it would have just been a battle of attrition until the zombie got through the door. Once a zombie jammed their head in there even if you killed it you couldn’t necessarily close the door on the zombie who’s head is now jammed in the gap. that’s my thoughts at least. Plus yeah stress of the moment.

4:27:40 Chadness does transcend special lines. I once saw an earthworm fight a turtle and win. Nobody died, it just pulled the turtle off its feet and escaped into the hole it lived in.
A taxi driver is so fucking good. I loved that movie

The problem Hollywood has with writing smart characters is that the writer need to not be stupid.
The audience need to not be stupid. If the audience watches shit dialouge then why bother...
Someone on the EFAP crew brought up 2016 Magnificent Seven, and they like it! Good dog, Rags; have an internet-respect.
3:46:47 "If it is true, is it happening on other shows? Is this a company wide thing?"
Rags, if you read half the shit about the worker's hellscape that is RoosterTeeth under Warner - from the insane crunch and the other toxicity - and what Warner lets them get away with despite Shane Newville's letter and the continued Glassdoor exposés about how shit they are? You'd be on the same page as me when I say *I absolutely see what she said about the Batwoman set as believable.*
I know nothing about what else Warner has done or allowed besides what you have said. When I first heard about the bat woman stuff, I at first believed it fully. But then I remembered what age we’re in; misinformation is overflowing, and accusations/allegations are flung left and right. Im holding off until more information comes out and is confirmed.

To be honest I don't see why we have to make a choice: the ideas that it was a horrible set to work on _and_ Ruby Rose was fired for being insufferable aren't actually mutually exclusive.
That guy who worked with Monty tried to tell people about how shit RT was getting right after Monty died. He wrote that open letter ripping into the state of the company. RT dismissed him like he was just in mourning and lashing out at people. Turns out he was totally right.

“Hobo-man” is the pig farmer from the beginning (that drove through the decontamination checkpoint and hit the infected deer). He is saying ‘everyone is dead’ as that implies that only he made it out of the area.
Now I got to go back and check
I'm fairly certain that it's incorrect. They look pretty different, especially their teeth. Farmer guy had pretty crooked teeth, while hobo-man's were fairly normal.
Also Hobo-man being the pig farmer wouldn't make any sense logistically.
Nah they don't even look alike
If one person had taken command at the beginning and organised everyone sensibly, nobody would need to die from the beginning to the end of this movie.
I think the weird part of the zombie sins video is that some of the issues he brings up are things that he explains in his praise video. For example he talks about why it works that the paranoid survivors don't notice the old woman opening the door but in the sin video he acts like he doesn't understand why they do the stupid. Im not sure which video came first but it's weird

I'm returning to this after watching "All of Us Are Dead."
Curious what they think about it, I don't think it was all that floompy.
Edit: After rewatching the coverage, All of Us Are Dead had a lot of the good aspects they praised Train to Busan for-- but I think it has quite a few issues.
As you said All of Us Are Dead have some issues, but IMO there are more good stuff than bad. A solid show that could be improved to be great.

It is just a contrivance, but it allows the rest of the film to happen
How I would’ve done it is show the woman watching him, so we know it’s not a chance but she was waiting, and instead of having him turn, have someone call him over to ask about all the commotion that’s happening (due to the outbreak), which is much tighter and can give some more world building
Chad the dad was absolutely my favorite character!
Were I him, I would have gone for 2 scenarios:
A/ Get out by myself, tell the others to remain in the wagon, run to find the conductor and tell him to wait for nightfall before changing trains.

The way the highschooler died at the end made me sad, goddamn.

I walked to school almost until I was finished. Got longer every school, until it was a 30 min walk at top speed.
Given how South Korean soldiers have behaved historically, I bet that they would just be EXCITED to have the kind of free-fire that zombies provide. Just go nuts.

Everyones a general after the war is over.
But this is a zombie film, we need paranoia and stupidity abound to let the plot progress.
