my original battery has 2227 cycles on it lol. I tried several battery replacements and they all failed within 3-4 months. Seems no one is making a decent aftermarket battery for the 2012.
Using in 2024 and still a great video🙌 Saved me a ton of money and time! Quick question, can i use the computer while im discharging the battery(play a game on it)? Or does it need to discharge with no applications running?🤔
Thank you. It was very helpful for me. Your super clear explanations along the way were very detailed. I was able to replace mine. Same model. And thanks for the tips to help prevent the same issue from happening again. The first time I had it replaced I did take it to a professional dedicated to do this things. Now I was able to do it on my own.
Hi! This looks fairly easy- looking to replace mine. I have a 15in Mac Book pro from 2012. Do you know what battery would be the equivalent of the one you have? Thanks!
Thanks for video. My MacBook Pro is mid 2012 and says A1398 on the back of it. What battery would it take and how do I know if its old battery is glued in place? I assume if it’s glued in place, I probably shouldn’t try the battery to replace it then. Right?
Great vid! Is this the same battery that lasted you 5 years? I’ve fully upgraded my MacBook and now I’m looking for a replacement battery since I’m at 1200 cycles on mine thanks
Fantastic! Just what I needed to know, and thanks for the small bits of detail that make all the difference, new subscriber, cheers! Mine is a mid 2012 15" Macbook Pro, need to find a replacement battery, new 1TB SSD drive, and new SSD drive ribbon cable for that model, any suggestions appreciated, thank you!
I recently bought a spares A1278, to swap parts with mine. The battery bulged enough to permanently compromise the trackpad. I put my old battery which is in better shape and not blown up like the one it had and the trackpad still works but the clicking mechanism doesn't work well on the side most covered by the battery but tapping works just fine.
I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro, its battery has a bit more than 400 cycles, and it lasts a bit more than 3 hours. Would the battery replacement be any better? P.S.: Mine is currently running MacOS Catalina.
I would download the Coconut Battery app and see what percentage of the design capacity you have. www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/ This will give you an idea what percentage you have different from a new battery.
It is working well. This computer is often plugged in so I am working on power cycling and re-calibrating the battery regularly so it doesn't overcharge.
People look to much at the battery cycles! The age of the battery is just as important!! Its chemicals! They get old! People should swap their batterys every 2-3 years to turn their phones and computer up to the speed it was as new …
If you are using so much solvent that the smell is bothersome, you are using too much. I recommend using a small syringe so you can apply tiny amounts. Either solvent can be used but I feel like acetone works better. Either can make you sick. After all, the body metabolizes isopropyl alcohol into acetone.
This was helpful; thank you!
Thanks! It had been a while since I replaced stuff on one. I forgot about the triwing screws lol
Thanks! Just replaced the battery in my husband’s mid-2012 MacBook Pro. Easy peasy!
Thank you for your clear step by step video and the reminder about the needed battery complete cycles of discharge/charge.

Same except the batteries ive tried don't last any longer than the original
@doctahjonez Try newertech NuPower battery. I have a 2012 MacBook Pro, have replaced the battery twice.
@@LeRoy313what’s the longevity like?

You can use it while discharging.
Thank you! My trackpad is starting to fail so I’m going to def use this tutorial !
Its the same thing happen to mine, I kept it plugged in so the battery swell and affect the trackpad.

Thank you so much, mine is now at 71% health after 900 charge cycles and 11 years. Time to replace battery now...
how to check those things?
Cheers, simple. I will get a battery and replace mine!
It has been a year since this battery was installed. Is there a follow up video regarding its longevity?

I like Samsung SSDs. Not sure about the battery for cable for that model.
how can we find the model number ? i have a late 2011 MBP
Can that be why kernal task is activated?
Does this help the computer run for longer? The battery I have in now runs out in an hour
It should run longer with a new battery.
I read many negative reviews on Amazon for this particular battery. Can anybody recommend a good replacement?
My trackpad wont click down on new batttery install but the old one still allows trackpad to work any idea why?
Your old battery was bulged? I wonder if something was permanently bent in the trackpad.

When you install the new battery must you not plug it in at all until it has powered down?
You can charge it up to 100% and then unplug and run it until it turns off.

Did the original battery have glue holding it down?
No glue on this model. It's a pretty easy swap.
How’s the battery holding up 9 months later?
It is working well. This computer is often plugged in so I am working on power cycling and re-calibrating the battery regularly so it doesn't overcharge.
what if it doesnt charge the battery ?
If you don't charge the battery, it can go bad.
Thanks dude step 3 work fore me
Thanks

Good point. Calendar aging is just as important as cycles for many people.
That syringe…. My god! Thats stupid! You can use something better!
What would you use?
@@Rickmakes tons of better options to use. use your imagination
if you slip with that needle and puncture the battery your MacBook is gone! everything will burn!@@Rickmakes
never anything sharp and not metal to close to a lithium ion battery. especially not pouch lithium ion.
And people use isopropanol insted much better to work with… aceton fumes make u sick… iso smell ”nice”
