As far as I know, the damaged samples shown on the internet, one came from a drop test and the other came from a buyer who folded it in the wrong direction, and there are even disassembly videos of HUAWEI matext from a enthusiastic engineer studio. By editing these video clips together, and then claiming that Huawei matext is a defective product, it is just low, but it fits my impression of Americans..

I have the XT phone for over a week. Absolutely no issues. There will always be "some" faulty models like how some of the Xiaomi 14 models had foggy lens issue. I know it's not ideal but videos like this make it seem like it's the norm when clearly its not 😂
To be fair they sold a ridiculous number of the things, even a few thousand different users having broken screens or whatever would still be pretty good numbers wise.
A week of no issues says nothing about the durability of a phone...

For another, those screens weren't exactly "snugly fit together." It was less "big screen mode" and more book/Nintendo DS mode.
I guess what I'm saying is, maybe have someone other than Microsoft take a crack at it.
...Then again, I honestly don't care one way or another; I actively resist using my phone for anything beyond communication and music.

My iphone 15 battery bulged after 3 weeks cracking the screen. Covered under warranty… so all these devices have faults. It’s under warranty mate, so just move on …
I've had a z fold for just shy of two years. I've never dropped it, and its always lived in a case with a screen protector. But its broken three times in the 22 months I've had it. Its just not a viable long-term use phone. The screen is essentially a wear part, like tires on a car, that needs to be replaced about every 8 months. Which sucks, but isn't too big of a deal for the initial buyer, who has 1 yr warranty and likely insurance to boot. But there is no life for these devices in the second hand market. I have a 3 that I'll be finished making payments on next month and I can only use the front screen. It was never my main phone either. The inner screen pixelated after Samsung canceled my insurance on it. I'm not doing a foldable again until it's fully figured out.

@BOBimusRex I didn't do anything at least for TOS. One day got an email that it was canceled, not sure what happened. But the inner screen likely still would have cost more than I'm willing to pay. I have no issue keeping a phone for a long time. I have the iPhone 13 mini as my main phone and I'll probably keep it a couple more years, but I'm not sure.

As someone who owns a folding phone. I literally never answer the phone with the display unfolded for 2 reasons
1. It makes you look like a jackass
2. It puts you in a position where you're more likely to drop the phone and if you drop it with the folding display exposed you could potentially damage it

I just can't understand why they didn't make the folding screen fold both into the middle,so the outer panels fold into the middle thus protecting the soft screen, then just have a normal glass display on the outside like a normal fold phone. Maybe the bigger hinge was too much to design whereas the simple solution is to flip the normal hinge the other way, it's a real shame they didn't do this as I feel that could have solved most of these screen breaking problems and bad press!

I miss being able to use regular tablets as phones without missing an important feature like NFC or dual sim. Just make larger pockets on pants and jackets or carry them in a briefcase and use an ear piece or the speakerphone.

Pro Tip: Folding phones are for people with money. Only buy those if you can buy when you have money to by two such phone. Same goes with Curved Edge displays. All these looks good on paper and fun to use, untill you have issues or damage and need to get them repaired.
