Just want everyone here to know if you don't get into your dream school, opt for a cheaper option and work your ass off. The education is the same. I got rejected from every single UC and attended CSUN and got into 4 dental schools including 1 IV League. Your journey doesn't end with the school you attend in undergrad, it matters what you do with that degree.
This really helped. Even though I am a 9th grader in highschool this really helped me to understand about UCLA and what they are looking for and how they are looking for them. Thank you for the tips and advice about it!!
@@markmouchamel2882 it went great! I didn’t end up applying to any UCs but my application process went well I would advise to plan ahead and not to do it last minutes like I did 😭💛
@@okayvero1124 I’m surprised you responded so quickly, but I’m glad it went well. I’m an upcoming senior, and I’m curious if you have any summer activities that you suggest I do during the summer. I already have a few in mind.
im going to high school this august and ucla is my dream school! tysm i know i have four years but now i kinda have an idea of what classes i have to do and that i have to really work but yeah!! thanks again:))
Though I’m just in 8th grade. This video persuades me that I should start doing for community service. Since I live in Georgia we have a large program that is sponsored by UGA that promotes community service. I plan on doing that until I graduate and while I’m in highschool I’m going to take AP classes instead of getting a job during school (I’ll get one in the summer) ! Thank you so much for this video I’m going to keep this is my favorites until I need it again
I don’t have the best gpa but I do have strong character qualities and experiences that I’m looking forward to writing for my college apps. I’m looking forward to applying for transfer to UCLA and other schools
How did you balance working while completing college apps/studying? appreciated your video btw! I am in the process of writing two drafts for my common app essays and getting them edited by my mentor!
This is a question I asked myself when I first started my job! Because I really needed money at the time, I dedicated myself to making a strict schedule of work and school. I'd prioritize all of my schoolwork and studying before work, even if that meant doing an assignment 3 weeks before it was actually due. I never purposefully procrastinated just because if I did, it would totally mess up my schedule. For me, I would study in intervals for different lengths of time depending on the severity of the test/homework. For ex. if it was a final I'd study for at least 2 hours every other day 2 weeks leading up to the exam. My essay application essays for this video were actually procrastinated, UNFORTUNATELY. I had two hours left to write the essays before the deadline which pretty much gave me an anxiety attack but they came out pretty well luckily! Also, I'm so glad you enjoyed this video! That means so much and good luck on your essay applications! You 100% got this!!!❤️✨
Hey, I’m halfway through sophomore year and even though I have straight As And am doing two sports, I feel like I don’t stand out enough to get into a school like this. Any advice? Also great video.
ok i rlly loved this vid:)) do you have any tips on how to get more involved in extracurriculars and find some you like that aren't just to fill up your college application. i'm always stressing i'm not doing enough in high school.
Somer- thank you for commenting 😭it means so much! And well hmmmm I’d decide what you’re truly passionate about rn and look EVERYWHERE for things connected to them to do! Especially with everything being online it allows you to reach out to people everywhere - you could participate in an online club/internship/ startup magazine/ help a company with their social media ! I promise things are out there you just have to dig! Also don’t stress too much! It’s not super critical to be doing a lot - it’s just important to show that you’re “well rounded” So that could be saying you’re an animal lover and passionate about becoming a vet and explaining/showing them that you worked a part time job at pet cost while getting good grades and volunteered a couple days a week at an animal shelter! As long as you express your passions and they can see that you’re serious about them you’ll be great! Don’t stress too much though- everything will work out for you amazingly! ❤️✨

when sending in your transcripts do you know what years they looked at most at UCLA? ive had a rough year freshman year and sophomore year is about to finish and feel like I haven't done enough yet. I've heard they only look at sophomore and junior grades is that true? I also loved this vid .
UCLA doesn’t weigh the GPA from your freshman or senior years, so I wouldn’t worry about grades too much! just try your best to stand out in other aspects of your education and maybe pursue a leadership opportunity or two :) you’ve got this!!
Oh my Goodness! Woah Congrats my friend. You're in my dream University. I'm one of craziest new Indian fan of UCLA. Hey! I have question, can you help me to know my GPA is 2.0 so really I'm eligible to apply to UCLA or not? And one more question, how can I calculate my exact GPA? Can you help me to know American GPA scale system? ( Sorry for this dumb question )
90-100% equals an A or 4 points,, 80-89% is equal to B or 3 points , then 2 for for 70-79, then 1 for 60-69% . You would then average all the points and that would be ur gpa. If it’s an advanced class then it would be slightly different
like i am an international student and i really dont know what to do? because no one in like the place i live went to any of these unis and so everyone is so uncertain but like i really wanna get in but i need help lol
so if i’m black and their percentage for black people is very low, is that a little extra added to my app to help me get in? i’m not sure bc at the beginning of the app they said i think that they don’t look at demographics to make a decision, but i’m skeptical. i feel like it would help me?
do you think I could get accepted by UCLA if im: - from texas, hispanic, female - 3.1-3.2 gpa - 6 clubs, no leadership roles, no job - no sat score - class rank not exceptional - public school - A/b/c grades - good essays - had depressive episodes and social anxiety (written about in essay)
I think it’s a far reach, to be honest. It sucks that you had to go through all that, but colleges rly don’t want ppl with mental health issues bc colleges think those ppl can’t do well in their school. The stigma SUCKS and I hate it sm, but at the end of the day, we can’t do anything about it. Just know that you’re more than any stupid acceptance or rejection, and that you should apply anyway if that’s your dream school ❤️ I rly hope you get in and if not, then you can always go to community college and transfer. Good luck bro :)))
Angel I was talking just about UCLA, because it’s such a hard school to get into. But you should apply to the other UCs for sure!! Super competitive colleges mainly have that issue, but that shouldn’t be the case with other UCs. In the case of other UC colleges, you should totally talk about ur mental health, because they’ll know that you really worked hard instead of being a slacker :)
@@saishajoshi3031 Okay !! Do you think I'll still have chance at ucla or berkeley if in the mental health essay I explain how going through all of it led to a positive outcome such as determination and strength? or saying that I now understand how to get through difficult times?
