Hahahaha true, I started to rewatch the first seasons and there are so many dumb things. The thing with the hot tub is just so stupid!!!
Actually what they wanted to show was how lacking the sex ed they provide in schools is. They should provide students with the knowledge they need which is how they avoid teen pregnancy (or any unwanted pregnancy, actually) and all sorts of std's that young people more than anyone is exposed to because nobody is willing to give them the information they obviously need. They trust that kids are learning on their own, but as the example shows, things they learn, say, on the internet and such, aren't always necessarily right.

You have to ask - why does a Hollywood star with a string of hit movies to her name appear in Glee. Gwyneth Paltrow is a multi-millionaire, and was when Glee was made. So it wasn't for the money. She risked her celebrity status by appearing, she had nothing to prove. I bet the 'stars' were falling over themselves for a cameo! Gwyneth Paltrow appeared (several times) because she wanted to. She thoroughly enjoyed herself. Didn't she just slay this number? Excellent.
