This was so good. I wish it were a little longer, such as showing the complete process from start to finish, as in the customers dimensions to a finished product. Longer dwells of time on detailed views would have made this one better. I think this shop would be an ideal candidate for a You Tube Vlog. Someone out there set this man up!! JIM
There is a old time saddle maker a couple miles down the road from me and I love hanging around his shop. This video felt very much that so I really enjoyed this video. I hope you get the chance revisit the Samson Harness Shop for perhaps a more in depth view.
We knew Bernie Samson when he was a schoolteacher making harness in his apartment with his wife and very young daughter at Forest Lake, Mn or there abouts. We lived at either Nowthen, Mn, Princeton, Mn. or Pine City, Mn.around 1974-1983. We also were friends of Clarence Nordtstrom Pine City that Bernie also knew and were officers of Northern Mn Draft Horse Assoc. We also bought from Bernie a show harness for a Percheron Draft team 1976. We were watching Rural Hertiage on RFDTV with his segment . Johnny and Mary Jane Steinbrecher
I remember you from the Pine City area back then. I sure miss those days when there a lot of draft horses in the area. You could learn a lot just visiting from farm to farm. Clarence Nordstrom was one of a kind.
I have been struggling fo a long time trying to make the rounds. Bought a needle and awl machine and modified a belt embossing machine to break the leather, now I can also make rounds. T han you very much. What abou making box keepers?

ever thought of making standardbred harness for racing? please
Someone asked me: “why don’t you buy these already made”
Craftsman: “ Because then I’d be an assembler, and I’m not”.
Me: “I love that man”

Harness making skills in the UK are so much diminished here...maybe lose them completely some day.
