During the years I led Taraweeh, I found the following to be very helpful:
    1. Be sincere in your intentions. DO IT FOR ALLAH ALONE!
    2. Make dua to Allah to help you be sincere, and pray for it to be made easy for you.
    3. Be well-prepared and start on time. As much as possible, revise before sleeping and after Fajr, and during free time (in car, during a walk etc.) It is better to study for four times half an hour throughout the day than once for two hours.
    4. Before Iftar, take a power nap of 15 minutes.
    5. Don't overeat. Have a healthy and light Iftar. Take small sips of tepid water before leading and between prayers. Take an spoon of pure honey. It is good for your throat.
    6. Maintain cleanliness as much as possible.
    7. Wear light clothes (not too heavy or warm).
    8. When starting the actual prayers, take your time in the mihrab, breathe the first 90% through your nose and the last 10% through your mouth. After Takbiraat al-Ihram, take time for Dua al-Istiftaah. Assume a comfortable posture and don't press your arms too close to your chest.
    9. Imagine that you are standing in front of Allah and forget about the people behind you.
    10. Recite as much as possible with the voice you would normally speak in. Do not shout. It makes you and the people behind you tired.
    11. Try to look ahead during recitation, especially during challenging parts.
    12. Don't let mistakes follow you the whole prayer. It could/would led to more mistakes.
    13. Keep struggling against your nafs and remind yourself to maintain sincerity before, during, and after the taraweeh (so always!).
    14. You will receive complaints: too slow, too fast. Don't take it too seriously. It is impossible to please everyone. People's wishes are different.
