Could it be that capacitor was going bad in the way fan reverses itself that causes the motor to unscrew itself from the yoke? I heard TAT has a reputation of having bad capacitor but hadn’t heard of single one that reverses itself.
I thought it was an issue of the yoke itself failing. I can't remember if I read the recall or if that was told to me. Did you find the info? I did a quick Google and CPSC search and couldn't immediately find it. Link me if you have it.
I swear I read it somewhere. Chandler was the one who informed me, I think he'd found a copy but I don't know where or how. It's been so long I don't remember much other than I thought yokes were breaking.
I only saw the recall in relation to fans for Emerson, the motor could separate from the downrod. I supposed it COULD relate to any TAT from this era, I'm really not sure. I don't really know exactly where the actual fault point can occur, it's supposed to be something with the yoke bridging the motor and downrod. Looking under the lower canopy around the yoke and downrod for any signs of fracture, breakage, or excessive wear is all I can really suggest. Tighten anything that seems loose. I don't see any indication of issue with mine, but it's never really seen heavy use either.
Yeah I'd just take a look. It's weird because I've never seen anything about the Canarm-labeled ones being recalled, but I can't imagine there's much difference.
Well i was talking to Brandon Johnson and he knew of a bowling alley that had a few of these and he said one of them did fall because all that was there was the downrod and both canopies. How would one go about inspection? Or should i not worry because its just in my garage and it doesn’t really see heavy use.
I mean, I wouldn't worry too much considering your application and that it's gone this long without issue, but I'd just look at the yoke attaching the downrod to the motor under the lower canopy to see if there's evidence of any sign of weakness, cracking paint, etc. I don't fully understand where they were failing, but I feel like any cause for concern would make itself evident.
I don't know about you, but I like this humming noise. And I also like when the wobbles slightly like this.
I don't like wobble or hum. 😊

@@vfandm I looked for recall too, in different ways, I couldn't find it.

Does it apply to Canarm/TAT as well? And does the motor separate from the downrod?
I have a 1990 Canarm/TAT, how can I inspect this?

Wow that is amazing 😍
Is it made in Hong Kong or China?
I don't know. I want to say I looked once and it was China but I really have no idea. Not digging it out to check.
Damn i just got the canarm version of this, i should really inspect it sometime soon, good thing i read descriptions😂
