Just treat them like switches and remember there's a different type of switches for switching positive and for switching the negative side... n for negative, p for positive.
Extra notes:
This is only for DC circuits, on AC circuits you only switch the hot side.
Mosfets have multiple switches in them and can do other cool stuff.

N Channel: you give gate positive voltage and drain negative voltage then current can go from source to drain
P Channel: you give gate negative voltage and source positive voltage then current can go from source to drain
