I am a Robertson,my mothers side from my Grandfather. I’m trying to find out the past of Clan Robertson. Thank you for this. My grandfather is Scottish but moved here to Ireland in about 1960.
I am a Reid from Glasgow, Scotland. Hello, Newfoundland, Canada!! Love Canada and our Scottish diaspora. Sending all my love back to you. Lang may yer Lum Reek. Sonsie tae ye.
My Grandfather was David Garrett Robertson. I have been doing Ancestry, Duncan I is in the tree. Saint Margaret Queen of Scots, Malcolm III, Christian & Robert The Bruce, William the Conqueror 50 times or so. Charlemagne 75 - 100 times so far. I have begun to feel a keen sense of connection with my distant past, as you can imagine. Great history.
I am both Duncan (father's side)and Robertson(mothers side). Also grandmother was a Robertson and cousin with Stewart's. Family settled in Pennsylvania
My great grandfather was colonel Hugh Robertson from from crieff. Who sadly died in 1940 whilst out walking his dog in Fowler west. His son William was my grandfather, my mothers father. Unfortunately due to a devious family member action over a large sum of inheritance my grandparents lost their beautiful house in Crieff. Awed by my ancestry and the history of the Robertson clan
@@donnaemerson3313 I am from just outside of Glasgow, I was born in Glasgow. My last name is Reid, Reid is a nick name within the Clan Robertson who had Reid hair. Many people in my Village which is only 1 hour from The Robertson land area are named Reid and Robertson, very common names especially, Reid (Sept. From Clan Robertson) it is the 11th most common sure name in Scotland and 80 percent of Scotland lives in Glasgow, that is a lot of Reid's (Robertson's) in Glasgow.
I am a Robertson and I love reading about my ancestors. I always tease my husband about being a princess lol. Which of course is not true but it’s fun .
New subscriber here. Glad you are doing this! I hope to learn more about this. Thank you very much! My real name is Bruce Robertson and I live in the U.S. in the state of Mississippi.
Im a Powell but I am related to the Collier family by blood through my grandma and the Colliers were part of the Robertson clan. I think that means we're all related to the Robertsons from duck dynasty
This is really good information for me because I recently did an ancestry dna test and my results are 37percent Scottish from what I am aware one of my relative surnames is Reid here in the US other than that I have no idea but I am interested in finding the clan I belong to. What I have learned is Reid is a surname associated with Donnachaidh clan which is associated with Robertson but other than that I have no clue what to do.
I am a decendant of Alexander Robertson 9th of Struan and 5th clan cheif. His wife was Lady Elizabeth Isabel Stewart, 4x great grand daughter of King Edward III.
I am a Robertson, my grandfather was from Glasgow he was called Ian and I believe his father was called Gavin, at least that is what I think his name was My dad (David) put his father's name (Ian) as my middle name so I assume as my dad's middle name is Gavin that's what I think his name was (could be from my grand mother, of which her name both first and madien name escapes me) Anyway I believe clan donnachaidh is my family history and would like to know more about this
Im a Duncan and live in Scotland. Clan Duncan are from the angus area of Scotland around dundee or forfar and the Robertson clan are from around that area just more north west of dundee. I looked up and it's right that the robertson descended from clan Duncan and i speak scottish Gaelic too. Duncan "reamhar" the host mentions means big Duncan or fat Duncan haha. Clan Duncan were fighting at bannock burn along with bruce clan and led a charge. Clan Bruce are very close to where clan duncan was on a clan map. Clan Duncan also fought at culloden but not the whole clan. Clan Robertson is listed as fighting at culloden but Duncan isnt mentioned amoung the clans that fought. After a little more research it suggests that during culloden brothers fought on both sides so a guess could be that any Duncan's that fought actually fought for the british army side. There are famous Duncan's that seemed to be more high uo the ranks and involved in the royal navy and seaman around the time of admiral nelson and part of the east india company which was very famous. On a side note the last person tried for witchcraft and killed in the 1950s in britain was a Duncan! Clan Duncan and clan robertson have an almost identical tartan patern and colour :)
I'm a Duncan and I had been looking into where the Donnachaidh clan are from. I heard they were from the east of Scotland but as I dug into the history, I found that before there were any big numbers of us in the east of Scotland, the stories of the people associated with those names were from the central part of Scotland, northwest of Perth. They only populated the east the way they did bc of the clearings.
Great to get this info my mum was a Reid and ancestry traces to Robertson Cain it explains to this day why every firstborn son was called Robert including my great uncle and second cousin
I HOPE ALL OF THE CLAN IS TOGETHER SOCIAL DISTANCING IS EASILY GOTTEN ROUND... I SHALL BE POSTING LINKS FOR ALL THE CLAN TO VIEW IN THEIR OWN TIME. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.ANTHONY WILLIAM ROBERTSON. CAMBRIDGESHIRE UK
I am not looking for some connection to a king or such. I am just looking for some family connection to the old world from where my people came. There is a path that comes up between new york and delaware that lies on a cliff. I has some stone barriers built alongside a rise in the hill. It is also a historical marker where the Dutch came from New York up the river that leads into the White Sulphur Springs. This path is old and almost fallen into the floor of the hill. But it still follows the creek. Good luck to those who seek these paths as those of us who still remain are passing away and tales die. I was told my Robertson family was split because of some issue but could never learn why. These are the things that divide us in later generations but we have not clue on.
+Rovert Robert Yeah, that would be nice to know. the only thing to do probably is to gather everyone's family trees who's part of the robertson clan and put them altogether. but there has to be a more simpler thing that you could do.
