Good specs on the monitor but the size, connections & setup isn't great. The UpSpec gaming monitor is a better design. It's only 11.6" 1080p60 but it is the exact same width as the console, runs off USB from the back and has a neat carry case (which is an extra accessory).
this is a much smarter approach to use 3D printed side expanders to have a larger screen than the measly 12 inch ones that were trying to fit the exact dimensions of the series S. price on the other hand is a bit of an issue, shouldn't cost more than the console itself lol
i'm not sure, this monitor has some compromises vs the xscreen. they made it bigger with the side extenders, plus bigger screen, but negative the whole package is now bigger. main other drawback is the external power supply, i get it being necessary due to the advanced features like 144hz, but the xscreen is truly integrated and draws power from the series s itself. so you need only worry about one cord, the power cord to the s itself. thats just way simpler.

This seems to defeat the purpose of having a compact travel solution by making the console so much bigger and having a bunch of cheap plastic on the sides along with requiring another power adapter and having some HDMI cable sticking out the back.
I have a gaming laptop but I also want this I recently got my series x and gave my series s to my cousin but I planned on getting one of these later most definitely and bringing it with my laptop so I can really go crazy.

Worst thing anyone can do I add 3rd party fans on top of the factory fans. Distorting the air flow. It doesn't increase it. You can't have two fans blowing at different speeds on top of eachother. Let alone two different fans with different blade ratios. Not every fan blows the same. They all have a different curvature for a specific amount of air to flow. If you want to I stall an external fan, how about you disconnect the internal fan first. The sensors are only going to pick up the airflow temperature, not the consoles temperature.
You're correct lol the crazy part is that the system has locked clock speeds no matter what. So even if the system runs hot it'll still perform the same. These ppl really buy those external fans thinking they actually do something lol
I can see the market for this. There are still some Xbox next gen games or even current gen that you still can’t get on windows or Linux. Not to mention the cost savings between this and a good gaming laptop are huge , steam deck is really a category of its own in terms of portability though even though pricing when you combine a series a plus this screen together are close. I do see why one would question this over the options you mentioned though

I have a series s from Microsoft warranty brand new and its smooth jus like the ps5, fps boost is a great feature I can play old titles like ac unity at 120fps, apex legends runs at 4k 60hz fortnite is 4k 120 nba 2k is 4k60 its overall very smooth and is def a next gen console

X screen is much cleaner looking and doesn't make the console much bigger. This makes the console huge and makes you connect more cables.
The main concern is that cooling. Xbox series S, heat is the biggest problems.
