It's about time IWC puts itself back on the map. That watch is perfect. Also, everyone knows IWC carries more class than Rolex. Rolex will always have its place, but it says New Money like a bright orange Lambo. IWC is reserved for those that have it but don't need to shove it in your face. You never see an iced out IWC.
You can also walk into an IWC dealer and probably find the watch you want. Good luck find a Rolex at retail. However, I did see a new big pilot recently with a bent tip on the second hand. It's best to use a sharp eye before buying an IWC.
Bought my first luxury watch the other day. Was originally looking at Breitling. The three I was choosing between was the Navitiner B01, Super Avenger or Super Chronomat. Last minute I changed my mind and went for the IWC Pilot Chronograph 43 in the end. I think the simplicity is what drew me to it. Nice watch and not too in your face.
I love IWC but I love and wear big pilot's watches. IWC is in danger on being a one-trick pony for which there is a limited audience. Why they have decided not to update the Ingenieur or the Aquatimer lines is beyond me. Even the Portugieser is being neglected. As for the IWC Petronas, I really like this combo. 41mm is fine for a sports chrono.
Ever since Kern left IWC has almost completely stopped innovating their watch designs. I remember when they'd refresh one of their product lines once every year which was what got me into the brand in the first place. Their new boss, unfortunately, seems more concerned with playing celebrity and taking pictures than on developing watches, hence why a slight color change on an existing model seems so revolutionary.
@@ricardop2983 agreed. As a long time fan of IWC, I've been worried about the direction that IWC has taken since the new CEO. The brand now seems cater towards social influencers/quick fashion/etc.

This made me so happy. Since my graduation years I had lusted after the iwc portofino chronograph with the Milanese strap. It just looked so beautiful to me. I grew up to one day be in a position to acquire one. And I did! It makes me extremely happy just to see it sit on my watch shelf. Not many people talk of this particular model but I love it!
That IWC fantastic. It's actually FUN. Which is whats missing from IWC in general. Have something fun that puts a smile on your face for no real reason.

Also the Day-Date is really useful, and a chronograph to boot?! Terrific! Fun And Serious watch in my humble opinion.
I love it. It does the tiffany thing without being obvious and I think this fleiger-inspired chronograph is well laid out and clean considering how much details/sub-dials it has. Stowa or Laco did an orange variation on this theme and I thought it was pretty sharp (I want to say it was less than 1k). Though with this (and that), I would always be concerned about wearability (matching with outfits etc.)
Well, I was in Las Vegas last weekend, and went to more AD's than I've been to cumulatively before in my life. I was looking very closely at the Brietling Premier Pistachio...but then I saw this IWC. I'm home now, and wearing the IWC. Fun thing, the IWC salesperson referred to a certain AD that had a nice store, and many display models, but nothing to actually sell as a Nolex dealer.
About the watch, it looks like it has the lume always on. I like the dial, the case is a bit too utilitarian for me though, plus that 14,6mm width... one of the reasons why I do not own BB yet is just that. But, if you like it so much, it connects you with the F1, you also like, just go for it and enjoy it.
My fiancée asked me why I love the white Longines Spirit. Like "yeah it's nice, but why is it worth that much? Why is it special?" The most I could come up with is "because it's pretty." I don't know why, but I tried it and a black bay blue, I tried other colourways, I tried it in 42mm instead of 40mm. And they're all fine options but... something specifically about the white dial 40mm Spirit with the bracelet just does something for me that I cannot explain. I love the colour, the textures, the finishing... Just the way it looks. I think that that is what the hobby is about. You ultimately don't need to justify your taste to anyone. If you like a big ugly Invicta (not that I'm comparing it to IWC...!), rock it and don't give a crap about anyone else.
I think it's polarizing in part because of the color and size. For a collector who had dozens of watches, this could be great because it looks nothing like they're others. For those of us who have few watches, we need the watch to be wearable in many more conditions. Bright blue/green/turquoise can be limiting as well as tough to fit under a shirt sleeve.
It’s out of my price range unfortunately but I’m a huge fan of Mercedes (and F1 in general) so totally love this collaboration! I’m so conditioned to seeing Petronas Green that it didn’t even occur to me that it looks very similar to Tiffany blue! A total no brainier! I absolutely agree with the comparison you made between IWC and Panerai. They are two watch brands which I respect immensely but most of their respective range’s probably aren’t for me. With IWC specifically their large diameters are very true to their fleiger roots so they do make sense to me as a stylistic choice but I’d prefer almost all of their watches if they were just a bit smaller. Same with Panerai come to think of it 😂
Went to an IWC boutique yesterday and saw this. Hadn't known about it before the visit. LOVE the watch. Looks great. I have smaller wrists and while I wish it was 1-2mm smaller in diameter it didn't really bother me, but what did stand out a bit (to me, at least) was the thickness of the case. The only watch I own that's as thick as this thing is my Omega Seamaster Diver 300 Chronograph (and that's a thick watch!). I really love the dial and the colors, but if it the case was a bit thinner I think it would be perfect. I would definitely consider a purchase.
I have a Pilot Chrono 41 on IWC's excellent bracelet. To my eye it's a great looking chronograph with accurate timekeeping and all the complications I need to actually tell time. Which it does to an accuracy better than +3 seconds a day. Good performing timepiece. However Petronas blue was not in time for me. My IWC is my daily and it makes me happy as is so I'm not jealous.. But if AMG and Petronas are your happiest option, you'll be getting a great performing technical piece along with the livery. I like my IWC, in any event, the form and the function. I didn't check on any forums before I bought it. did I miss something? Now, with the right shorts and an AMG team jersey, your IWC will work better than mine next year in Miami.
I think the watch is beautiful and really well designed (um ... engineered). I love the day-date complication, the placement of the logo, the proportions of the subdials, the titanium case, the dagger hands, the pushers and crown and the various numerical and non-numerical markers. There's a lot of stuff going on, but it doesn't feel cluttered at all. In fact, it's nearly perfect. So I would DEFINITELY wear it. But I couldn't wear it every day. For me teal is not a "daily wear" colour. But I could definitely strap it on for a day or two every couple of weeks or so and not feel judged at all. The watch is, after all, fantastic! So if you like it, go for it!!! No judgment from me.
A collab with a winning sport team is awesome. Feels completely different than a normal collab with another brand just because of it's championship pedigree (not there this year). For any AMG fan this would be a must 👌
I am not keen on the co-branding but I am not an F1 fan , that aside it's a lovely watch. If I see someone wearing an IWC I would assume they are a watch nerd as they always struck me as an enthusiast brand. Their pricing does tend to be on the high side but you gotta pay to play.
The thing with IWC is theyre so gorgeously proportioned, classic, can be worn (besides this colour) with just about anything. Sporty yet classy. You can pick them as an IWC from across the room even though they may be a simplistic face, or chronograph, because of that proportion, and style. This colour, on the black strap is totally IWC style but with something new…..pop. Thats why you like it. And that matching strap looks great too. Id tone it down with the black though.
I think it's really pretty. I think if you like it and want it because you want a watch you can wear instead of an investment, don't worry about what anyone says about resale, buy it and wear it. I have some very silly watches that I wear sometimes - I didn't buy them as investments, I bought them to wear, because they're fun. That one isn't silly, it's beautiful, but my point is that if you love it don't worry what anyone will think - it's a watch, not a spouse.
I just purchased IWC Mark 18 today black dial on strap at retail. At 4500 I think it’s a good buy. I thought about buying new Tudor black bay Pro being too thick I went with Mark 18 my first IWC. I feel. IWC has more prestige over Tudor.
You made the right choice, my tudor has been in the watch box since I've had my iwc mark 18. Iwc is in a different league to Tudor, it's in thr same league as Rolex for me.
I once heard this quote in a watch video at the beginning of my journey, and the thing was "every brand has AT LEAST one watch you like from them, even if the brand is disliked, and vice versa, you'll dislike at least one watch from a brand you love" and it opened my eyes
I've always felt and told many others to buy what you love, get what you want for the reasons you want it, not to satisfy opinions of others. You do you. If that means only having big pilots watches then so be it, if it means wearing your diver (like I do at times) on a leather strap ( a sin I know) then wear it. I have always loved IWC, my Spitfire looks and feels fantastic, its simply designed but somehow always seem to fit the occasion.
a few months ago I watched those videos and thought: Yeah, I like them. Now I simply love them! Best watch TH-cam channel worldwide, that's what I think! Greetings from Munich, Germany!
It's like the channel was reading my mind: I've been eyeing the IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph for a while and it does check off a whole lot of boxes on my bucket list. Besides, the 41mm dial size is quite satisfactory given IWC's inclination towards big dial watches. I do have to worry about the thickness of over 14mm though. I would definitely try it on my hand at an authorized dealer, specifically for the blue dial.
So glad you like this. I saw it the weekend of the race too and loved it. I think it’s a new fun twist on IWC with the bright rubber strap. Would be a great edition to your collection.
Petronas Green is such a cool color, It should be used more everywhere. I like most watches involved in F1, the TAG Monaco Max wears, the Bell and Ross from Alpine, even the Edifice Casios are neat, the only watches I don't like at all are the Richard Milles used by Ferrari and McLaren, it's really a Vegemite brand that one.
I LOVE this one… I think it’s the dark standard Matt black with the pop of petronas blue which is a great combo. I don’t think I’d like the price though somehow. Will check it out now!
I personally love it! I would get it in a heartbeat, not because it's a limited edition or whatever it is, I think it's just beautiful. If I had the dinero, I'd get it tonight, no doubts, no thoughts about future value, just because I love it. If you like it, get it before it's gone and enjoy it. Peace to the soul.
I like this model and all its colour ways. It just works. You are right, it is thick but I like the wrist presence. The best part about this particular watch has to be the clash between as you say, the 'engineered' case and the fun colour.
WOW! talk about perfect timing, I just purchased my dream IWC today ! Its the Pilots Spitfire Chrono, with the slate grey dial on the Stainless steel bracelet. To respond to your video , I definitly bought this with my heart not my mind. I work at a Luxury watch retailer and mentally, im always looking at the big names like Rolex, Tudor, Patek, but when i laid my eyes on this timepiece, I just couldnt put it down. Reasonbly priced, amazing quality and history, some good tech, sounds like those people complaining are doing so because they have all the stats and facts in there head that they just have to mention.
I love this watch, and had a very similar response when I first saw it: "I don't usually go for IWC, but this is very much worth making an exception." In general, I think the design is sharp - familiar but with some distinct touches of the brand's personality - and the chosen locations for the teal highlights give the dial a kind of negative space without obscuring any of its functionality. There's also just enough of a more modern vibe to set it apart from other similar IWC models (and the slightly more modest size is a plus as well.) But at the end of the day, you like something because you like it, sometimes regardless of its pedigree. Taylor Swift is one of my most disliked modern singers, but that doesn't mean I've decided to hate every song she's ever released or ever will. Heck, I know there's at least one song of hers that I can hear and say, "yeah, that's a great song."
I love this. I think that we have lost sight of 'I like it' being a reason, and not something that needs justification. Liking something without being able to articulate why is fine. We like something for ourselves, and we justify it for other people. Any time I feel that I worry about wearing that 'not popular' watch I just wear an Invicta on the subway and count the number of people who care....
All these years I thought Mr Talking Hands is the owner of the Watchfinder and promotes his own business. That's a revelation. I need to check if Adrian owns Bark & Jack :D cause I feel stupid. I can only compare it to the moment that I've learned that Matt Watson does not own Carwow ;-) That information takes away a bit of mistery and charm of the channel, but I still enjoy it!
I too surprising just fell in love with an IWC a few days back...the same watch but a different color config...I didn't see the f1 editions until just now... (Comparing that to my negligence to the brand so much, that a couple of years ago I rejected to enter its boutique even upon persuasion). And, coincidentally, I had similar reasons for it...big watches...not much recognition...and anxiety about its public image... Now I absolutely love them and wanna get one; Can relate to your case multiple levels in depth!! :) I'd say, if your wrist size (and your budget) allows it...Go for it!
Half way through the video and I want to interrupt their conversation with a simple statement - which is - " who cares about what others think of with regards to a watch or brand you like. The most important thing is that you like it - doesn't matter if others do or don't".
Lol to add: I don't really.gove a rats arse what someone thinks of me by the watch I wear. If I enjoy it that's all that matters 😎 if other don't like it, don't look! 🤣
Best IWC I’ve seen! I’m usually not a fan of IWC but there’s something about this one that stood out to me as soon as I saw it. I think it’s because everything is proportioned so nicely.
I happened to be very lucky with one of the sales of a vintage watch, so I was thinking about what I was going to add to the collection in its place. After looking at basically everything around the £5000-£7000 mark I settled on the Green dial IWC 41 Pilot Chrono on the bracelet. Not because of any reason other than I love it more than anything in that price bracket. And … have also been wanting to add a chronograph to the collection for a while! AND because I love a good day-date ❤️ Go get it! 🥂
Get it if you like it and don't worry about other people's tastes, also: 4:11 I don't think you need to be able to wear a particular watch to enjoy owning it - if it's too big so what, it can still be appreciated for what it is.
Totally agree Mr Hands. Very IWC, yet very unique. Hard to pin down why its nice, but fine proportions, ideal in titanium, and genuinely wearable are probably 3 good starters. I want one too.
I do like this watch. Always did like own pilot line. But seeing this on George Russell wrist in Miami really got me interested in it. Thank you for this video so soon after the race. Just what I was hoping for.
I recently discovered the new Pilot Performance Chrono in Ceratanium, the new Mercedes-AMG F1 watch, when I visited my AD between meetings. I bought it 2 days later .. lol. I thought the previous iteration used the Petronas teal a bit too much. The new Pilot Performance feels like an entirely new watch thanks to the tachymetre and ceratanium. It’s changed my entire perspective on collecting moving forward.
I’m a big fan of IWC and I love this watch. The fact they’re not the most popular is a plus for me, you’re less likely to meet somebody with the same watch, and as I have large hands and wrists, the larger size is also a plus.
This was really fun episode! I didnt see any IWC in person but from the photos I just think of Stowa or Laco. But my guess it is like comparing Presage with GS.
I agree with you 100% except on one factor... I don't care what people think of my watches, as long as I enjoy them, I know why I enjoy my watches and others don't have to agree with me on that...
As a big F1 and yes Hamilton/Mercedes fan, this watch is awesome. It helps that the "teal" color is one of my favorite colors as well... This may be a must buy.
I love this video. Great chat and fun banter BUT I am a little surprised nobody else commented on that Radiohead comparison. I would say that if you ONLY like "Creep" and nothing else by the band, then you're not a Radiohead fan, you're a "Creep" fan. Nothing wrong with that, by the way. Not saying you have to be a fan of an entire discography, but if you only like one single song then you're probably not a fan of an artist.
So they say depreciation, but I was looking online and this watch goes for upwards of 8k in the secondary market now… so unless we’re in the upside down, that’s appreciation no?
Your banter is great. I reckon Tom is a secret millionaire. This watch is a good watch but you’ll get tired of the blue pretty quickly. It won’t be a keeper, it’s a fling. At the time it’ll feel right but I think soon after it’ll be a regret
This is at first glance desirable because it's different and alluring but that does make it more of a temporary, niche piece. This will appeal for a year and then if I owned it I'd just stop wearing it. I certainly wouldn't want it to be my only watch. It's not a classic but if you collect pilot's watches or IWC then it's a cracking addition to a collection.
I find regular IWC a bit too simple looking for my taste but this really strikes the right notes for me. Will be on to consider list. The color is nice and refreshing and enough detail on the dial. Looks fun and sharp.
I don't keep up with F1, but if it's on and there's nothing else I care to watch, I'll throw it on. IWC makes nice designs but I've never just loved their stuff. All the better because they're well outside my price range. But this one makes me feel things man. I'm not sure if it's just because I love deal but this is one of my new favorites. It's well done, unique and stands out but without being garish (to me), and you kind of get lost in the nuance of it. Great watch that I wish I could own.
That online social media peer pressure is super potent, but you've really gotta fight against it and if you do, you won't regret it. My next watch is probably a Grand Seiko Sports GMT Chronograph, one of the most disliked watch series in their collection. But it's really grown on me and now I really want one!
I think the “because I like it” gets a little lost in the discussion. I even go the opposite where I’ll look at a watch, decide that it’s great for the money, checks boxes in terms of quality and design… and then suddenly realize that I don’t want to wear it due to not liking smaller sized watches or that the overall esthetic doesn’t match my preferences.
There are brands and watches I like less because of what is said about but I can't really relate to the situation you are talking about, where you like it but then consider something like the average opinion of others. Besides IWC has a good image, it's about engineering more than luxury, it stands for intelligence, competence, so what's to worry? Buy what you like.
I know 100% what you mean! People in watch forums always say “buy what you like” then proceed to tell you why you shouldn’t have bought the watch you like 😂
Tom, bugger the driveway, get the spitfire! I bought one on a whim while ordering my wife’s black bay 32 and now I wear it more than my bb58, it’s a stunning watch that suits most occasions, looks great with jeans a plain white t and compliments a shirt and tie. Do it… do it! ;)
I feel ya. If you like it, get it, and wear it! In my experience NO ONE will ask you about your watch. Maybe around your office, since you're in the bizz. I wear my awesome watches, and no one says a thing. The only watch I get comments on is my Mr. Jones Colour Venn. Everyone loves that one.
It's ok just to say, "I love this watch and I don't really know why." That's exactly what I want in a watch. All the stats are secondary if I find myself starting at it and then realize I didn't even notice the time.
I think the Longines big eye chrono in titanium is better value for money, around £3200.00 You didn’t mention the price of the IWC, but it’s going to be around £10k. Both great lookers, but realistically the big eye will be the one the average man will go for.
That's a very pretty watch! My favorite right now is a lime green G Shock. I never would have thought I'd want that color but I just find it so nice on that watch. I also want it in white which is another color I never would have even considered in the past.
It's a beautiful watch! I love it because it has a very clean look, the size is perfect, in house high quality movement, the brand and most of all the sporty look.... uuuuuuufffff I want it!!!
It seems to me it’s getting harder and harder nowadays not just to stay focussed on buying what one likes, but to really know what one likes in the first place. The volume and intensity of influence now is such that I feel like I need to be professionally hypnotised just to maintain the strength of my own convictions! Maybe it’s just me, but this excellent video suggests I’m not alone. Love the IWC too, I think. 🤔
I'm rather late to this... but i'm really annoyed with IWC (i love IWC and sport my BP5002 all the time) because nearly all their chronos are not Vertical Clutched nor are they flyback. It seems to be that "Pilot" watches of IWC's caliber should integrate a bit more of that concept...
It’s the flair of this watch, it’s a slap in the face of fun. A win. Could care less about F1, but this watch is unapologetic about being an IWC and I love it. This is what I want them to do.
I own an older Aquatimer standing in at 14 mm height and it's already a hefty chunky watch. 14.5 mm though? I'm not sure why IWC simply refuses to improve on their case sizes. It's a shame, because I too like the brand.
I saw it this weekend during the race as well and immediately looked up the price. I'm currently negotiating with my bank account and general, logical decision making skills on how bad I need it. But I for one really, really want one

Agree, the Ingenieur and Aquatimer lines have both had really interesting past editions...but the current stuff just doesn't move me.

@@fakenewsisthenews3542 It’s listed at £6850 GBP or roughly around $8000 USD.
@@garethsigrist8714 Thank you brother
Likewise. I had no inclination to think Tiffany at all. Not even especially close to the Tiffany blue in any case.
@WhatsApp me⓵⓺⓪⓶⓼⓸⓶⓵⓺⓺⓽ shut up 😂
I think the watch is beautiful and really well designed (um ... engineered).
This was a nice reminder to “like” what I like. Thank you!
I have wrists like Tom but this watch is really really cool. That green with black looks fantastic
It’s crazy that your website sells used watches that are more expensive than official sites..
I love vintage IWC watches. Some very classy and totally underrated pieces that can be had for a lot less than they are worth.
I think vintage IWC had more class, subtlety, refinement, elegance, and sophistication.
Great band analogy!!! Rolex all (90%) look identical from 3 feet away. Thanks for saying it !
a few months ago I watched those videos and thought: Yeah, I like them.
Like 10k
Lol tudor is not a big name
Well I love it.. it pops at least on screen whilst not being too bling and in your face.. I do wish it had a deeper depth rating..
The more I see this watch the more I fall for it. That black and teal combination is just so good.
I love this watch, and had a very similar response when I first saw it: "I don't usually go for IWC, but this is very much worth making an exception."
In general, I think the design is sharp - familiar but with some distinct touches of the brand's personality - and the chosen locations for the teal highlights give the dial a kind of negative space without obscuring any of its functionality. There's also just enough of a more modern vibe to set it apart from other similar IWC models (and the slightly more modest size is a plus as well.)
But at the end of the day, you like something because you like it, sometimes regardless of its pedigree.
Really? Again? I must be REALLY lucky....!
All these years I thought Mr Talking Hands is the owner of the Watchfinder and promotes his own business. That's a revelation. I need to check if Adrian owns Bark & Jack :D cause I feel stupid. I can only compare it to the moment that I've learned that Matt Watson does not own Carwow ;-)
That information takes away a bit of mistery and charm of the channel, but I still enjoy it!
I'd say, if your wrist size (and your budget) allows it...Go for it!
Great discussion this time. You nailed it exactly. Described perfectly how I feel looking at a few Porsche Design watches.
"Staring at the pictures isnt enough"... Story of my life... jajajaja great episode!
Half way through the video and I want to interrupt their conversation with a simple statement - which is - " who cares about what others think of with regards to a watch or brand you like. The most important thing is that you like it - doesn't matter if others do or don't".
I love this watch...1) I'm a huge IWC fan 2) It really pops for me 3) Great conversation piece!
Love this IWC F1 and the Lake Tahoe for absolutely no other reason than how cool they look
Love the honesty. Great watch. Watching this video because planning to buy this or a Lake Tahoe
GET IT!! To heck with Rolex or any nay sayers lol. It's a lovely piece and it DOES POP! The very same reason I am adding it to my collection 🤩
Lol to add: I don't really.gove a rats arse what someone thinks of me by the watch I wear. If I enjoy it that's all that matters 😎 if other don't like it, don't look! 🤣
Simply love it. And i'm not a big IWC fan. great looks, stands out. Love the episode, but do you need some help??? 🙂
This is a gorgeous watch! Thanks guys
Best IWC I’ve seen! I’m usually not a fan of IWC but there’s something about this one that stood out to me as soon as I saw it. I think it’s because everything is proportioned so nicely.
I like watch models, not watch brands, and I like songs, not albums (some albums are good start to finish tho).
AND because I love a good day-date ❤️
Go get it! 🥂
Did you buy it?

@@BearGryllsSpoofs Looks incredible 👌
I love IWC anyways. So this is a Zinger🔥 for me! Why not? Because you can!😀
Saw someone post it on Reddit. Probably the first IWC I actually like. Great watch
Well, Andrew has persuaded me to like this IWC. At first I was unsure about that teal colour but It has grown over the video for me.
Maybe you like it cause of the Tiffany blue?
Interesting video, 🤔😀,, I'm gonna have to search for the interview now, with Sir Lewis wearing all those watches,, ha ha,,, 👍
LOVE THAT… it’s different and the colour is amazing and most people won’t have one. It’s beautiful
I like it too! (the IWC PILOT'S WATCH CHRONOGRAPH 41 EDITION “MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS FORMULA ONE™ TEAM”)
I know 100% what you mean! People in watch forums always say “buy what you like” then proceed to tell you why you shouldn’t have bought the watch you like 😂
Don't listen to them then.
I can't pull off wearing a kilt but I can definitely pull this off in the summer months.
Tom, bugger the driveway, get the spitfire! I bought one on a whim while ordering my wife’s black bay 32 and now I wear it more than my bb58, it’s a stunning watch that suits most occasions, looks great with jeans a plain white t and compliments a shirt and tie. Do it… do it! ;)
My bb58 is up for sale due to buying a iwc mark 18, it's the watch I want to wear all the time.
That is one good looking watch, also shoutout to Lewis for saying he's wearing 4 watches next time.
I really like unique but not too flashy watches and this one looks great for me
I think the Longines big eye chrono in titanium is better value for money, around £3200.00
You didn’t mention the price of the IWC, but it’s going to be around £10k.
Both great lookers, but realistically the big eye will be the one the average man will go for.
£6,850. $7,850 in the US
That's a very pretty watch!
My favorite right now is a lime green G Shock. I never would have thought I'd want that color but I just find it so nice on that watch. I also want it in white which is another color I never would have even considered in the past.
wearing my IWC Flieger Chrono 3706. Love that watch. 39mm. Great size. Classic Design. 90's and early 2000's IWC ruled.
Love this watch. Would definitely wear it. Along with my Mercedes Petronas Pumas.
Great discussion guys🍺
