That's me, I'm doing my project with my grandkids. We gotta pass down car culture to the next generations. Hotrodding!!! When I learned to wrench, there was no TH-cam. Lol!!! I took it apart and prayed I could get it back together. Talked to alot of counter people like at Advanced Auto. Back then they hired people who knew about cars. Now they don't lol. Talked to alot of mechanics. And then went home and fixed it cheap lol.
@@GrandPitoVic I do have a grandson. I hope he does Mike hot rage gets a little bit older. He’s only two right now.. he’s out in the garage with me and I start the car it scares him.!
@kyaunmayberry8950 He'll get used to it. Mine did the same at that age. I had 1 that would through his hands up and yell and laugh when I would slide my car sideways around a corner on a dirt road. Another one would cry. Nd that was at 8 years old lol. Now the roles have swapped the scared one grew some hairy ones and the other one is scared lol. Funny how things work out lol
@87SSBOI damn that's crazy! "Push rod keeper" sliding out like that. I wonder if heat caused it to over time to show itself. We can all agree that that one rocker was probably faulty since the rest are intact. @Proformparts hook my Boi up!!!
It's always something. I bought the same compression kit from HF, found out my heads were warped from overheating. Thankfully I've had great guys to help me along the way. I have a 383 blueprint motor so I'm not quite ready to give up on it. Keep it up, as you said, some of us like to drive our cars more than wrench.
Wow!!! A collapsed lifter or valve float would be the only thing I would think would cause that. The rockers arm geometry is tight. Definitely let us know what all you find out for sure. Like you said it will definitely help someone out. I was thinking about running a set of Scorpion roller rockers on my Ls3.
If youre not pushing high RPMS like 6000+, i would just run regular stamped steel rocker arms man.. Allot of these aftermarket roller rockers have way to many unnecessary failure points.. The bad far outweighs the good on those And check your rocker to valve geometry. Theres a couple videos on youtube on how to do it with a black marker and turning the engine over but this is BEST CASE scenario. No bent pushrod, and you found that little piece 😅 id say get some regular ol’ stamp steel rockers, add some ZR1 Zinc oil in there, and send it 🔥
look into those automotive hose clamps to make it cleaner and less spillage and you can remove them hoses out your way when working on the upper end and what not. makes life easier
I went through the same thang. Not the exact same but I do have a SBC 383. I spent so much $ on my car and the whole time had a 6.0 LS sitting in my garage talking to me. Guess what I did. I got my shit together with the 383. Your car is nice. Work with what you got, until it get fired!

New to your channel, beautiful Monte SS. Your spark test checked the distributor but not the plug. I had a plug foul on my 85 K10 and it shook just like yours is. If you’ve already replaced the plugs I must have missed it and apologize for wasting time
I’m back but with a new question what type of transmission u have I got the 700r4 I was wondering what speedometer I need so it can fit the back of the oem dash
Check your pushrod length looked like it was sitting below the guide plate it should never sit below that, could be a wiped cam lobe or a lifter gone bad which could hurt the cam lobe easily hope you get it figured out and it’s not too bad ✊🏽
