I've been disappointed by different brands of yarn saying they're the same weight, but one is way thinner than the other. The advice I got I now pass on to you 😄 Check the gauge listed on the ball band, too. Bernat Blanket says: 6 Super Bulky US11 knitting needle, 8 stitches x 13 rows US11 L crochet hook, 7 single crochet x 8 rows = 4x4 inch square swatch on average Premier Parfait Chunky says: 6 Super Bulky ... but wait! US11 knitting needle, 10 stitches x 14 rows US11 L crochet hook, 9 single crochet x 9 rows = 4x4 inch square swatch on average The Bernat is a slightly bulkier 6 Super Bulky. Yep. I hope I've been helpful! I just hate being unpleasantly surprised by yarn I buy online, too!
I never thought to check the gauge like that haha. That's a good tip. I was kind of disappointed but it is cheaper (per skein... I haven't actually checked by gram). But I was actually pleasantly surprised by with the fact that it was so much easier to see the stitches with the parfait chunky yarn than it was to see the stitches with the blanket yarn lol.
What's your favorite super bulky yarn!?!
Premier yarn is definitely thinner than Bernat blanket but I think I like it a bit more just because it looks a little bit more smoother ❤
Yeah, I was disappointed in the thinness but ultimately liked how it worked up!
