This was absolutely brilliant! Reminded me so much of my trip to Portugal with a friend few years ago. Drowned my phone the first day in Spain, snapped clutch cable, broken SD card, smashed laptop, tent pitched in the middle of ant nest, 2h spent googling how to make fire with no lighter. Memory of it all makes it the best trip of my life with a motorcycle. Thank you for bringing back good memories

Not long passed my test, about 6wks ago. Ended up buying a VFR800 Gen6, by far the best thing iv ever done. Goin to be exploring Wales soon, taking a tent and trying some wild camping. What could go wrong 🤔
Oh I thought Saffy is going all philosophical on us…she’s getting old….then she comes back to ground with how she hates packing up a tent in the rain! Oh I do agree with what you said in this video, traveling alone lets you form clear thoughts about the world around you.
Reminds me doing identical route a few years ago, rain was so hard the roads flooded and you couldnt go faster than 40-50mph due to weather with trucks overtaking, 9 hours, and my kit was rubbish, i was soaked after first 20 mins. But that gave me a low benchmark and nothing will ever be worse than that and that helps in the long run. You vlog with the wisdom of someone that has been travelling for years and you already understand the essence of biking, very well done saffron!!
Thank you so much! My biggest biking secret is heated gloves + petrol station gloves. The heat from the gloves causes the plastic gloves to shrink wrap around your hands creating an airtight layer. It's been an absolute god send. Your hands are physically dry from the shrink wrap and they're warm from the glove. Even if the gloves are physically, you'd never know
@@SaffySprocket nice tip, im off to Norway on 26th may, hull to rotterdam to hirtshals to bergen, 3 days getting there, then a week of the most spectacular and wet bike routes arguably in the world, will stock up on service station gloves before the trip! Lemon sherbets come in handy for your energy levels as well, long hours in the saddle and camping can take it out of you, but with practice comes knowledge, you are doing really well as a beginner at motorcycle camping/touring, sleeping in a tent and conserving energy and getting a goodnights sleep makes all the difference when you get back on the bike in the morning, I am doing a 13 day tour in a tent all around the UK, absolutely love doing these trips on the bike.

If i knew how to make a video i would do one on how to stay warm and what gear you need, years of pissing about up mountains and in snow and ice, you soon learn this. Most ex military or alaskan/canadians know tricks, like treating leather with mink oil, goretex socks and mitts, proper layering of undergarments ( try silk) i have a neoprene neck seal from Seaskins ( for scuba diving but seals your neck properly ( get slightly larger than you think you need) cheap n works
I remember trips in the early 2000s in Scotland where it rained 10 days out of 14. It did cause me to change plans and pick different routes. Still had a good time.
I know how the rain drain feels, 2019 I rode from Fort William to North Yorkshire in one day (no motorways) it rained all the way to Dalkeith area where I picked up the A68, the sun came out just south of Corbridge. I’m returning in June, but with a new bike and can’t wait.
I love the Highland cattle😂. Highlands to the Midlands in one day (plus wet). Wow. Even the weather couldnt ruin the beauty👍 P.s Prob booking my test for Sept.

What a story teller, well done gorgeous. I was totally with you all the way. You a fast becoming my favourite biking Vlogger. Really looking forward to the next marathon trip...
I have often done Ashby-de-la-Zouch to Spean Bridge in a day but the real killer was last year. Loch Ness to home in a oner. I think it's the excitement of setting off that makes the biggest difference. Your tent is massive!! Think about going lightweight you will love it even more! Bmw s1000xr with one 35lt camping bag 😁😁😁
Fantastic stamina. Thatsa long time on the bike ! Im done after 4 hours 🤣 But sometimes it’s good to remember, it not always about the destination but the journey .
Was there a couple of weeks ago and more or less had the same experience 😢 rain, disasters etc & my Ducati electrics went haywire! But after all said and done it was an Adventure & that’s what it’s all about 👍Onwards & upwards & keep smiling on to the next journey Ireland 🇮🇪
That was ace how you built cinematic tension on the way down. FYI, I think you’ve done more miles on your bike in a weekend than I have since I bought mine back in September 🤣. Respect Saffy!
Like the 'mistakes and all' style, together with the narrative and great scenery. One bit of advice - don't park your bike over the grating at the carwash. If you remove and replace the bike keys - always a chance of dropping them between the gratings. Flourescent ultralightweight waterproof shell jacket is a must for those very wet/overcast days. Keeps you warmer too.
I'm still learning on my 125 and I love ever moment of it and no truer words then what you said a the start saffy. P.s another brilliant and amazing video keep them coming please 🙂
What an epic journey in the face of adversity. The rain or cold or even extreme sunshine I suppose?? can sap the will to persevere. So glad you did. I enjoyed your amazing drone footage of the Isle of Skye bridge. Last night instead of watchin Eurovision I went for a spin up the A87. On the way back I filled up and got a family pack of penguins at the same co op you got your snacks from lol. then went for a walk over the bridge and did a panoramic video at the mid point....in dry weather. Soo going to have to get a drone.. Oh and a tent as hotels, b&bs etc are crazy prices. Watching your vid it is a feat in itself packing up in the rain.. must be an absolute pleasure to finally hit the road.
Some amazing scenery Saffron! I've just bought a bike to explore the country lanes and try camping for the first time ever despite having two new tents. I'm hoping to camp at Tan Hill Inn near Richmond in North Yorkshire. If you see someone on a Tiger 955i waving like a maniac that will be me....
When it's really hoying it down may I suggest an oversuit that sits over your boots & gloves stopping water running down your jacket arms/trousers into them. Oxford do a one piece or two piece for a very reasonably price....
Not sure how but ive only just seen this video Saffy 🤦🏻♂️ I feel your pain on the miserable weather and choices on a trip, we once left Cadwell BSB to try and beat the weather, left as soon as the last superbike race had finished with the aim of getting home before the weather was terrible…….. 15minutes in, it never stopped for the rest of the trip back to Scotland, I was following the cats eyes on the road up the a66 because I couldn’t see anything, hailstones at that point 😭 6hrs non stop, didnt get in until 2am absolutely soaked right through……… it was good in theory 🤣
Another great vid, little tip, if you’ve a long ride ahead of you, stay away from sugary foods and carbs, eat fats instead, such as eggs, nuts, coconut oil in your coffee, etc. It’ll give you better mental clarity and sustained energy.
I don't comment on videos too much...but my god that woman who didn't even try to hold the door for you at the Welcome Break...I'd have muttered some serious words in her general direction I tell you.
I've just got back to South Wales after a week in Scotland and got very wet one day. However Scotland is always worth the effort for what you get to see 🤣
I passed my full A licence on thursday 😀. Just need my first big boys bike now. 🏍🔥🔥🔥. So, you might want to think about keeping of the roads for a while 😉
Dear Miss Sproket, you did it again. Once again you got those teeth stuck in, showing true grit, bringing the links together and creating a chain reaction to get yourself home. Not only that but you thought of us your sproketiers and topped along the wat to get some lovely footage. The music is great in this vid adding atmosphere, suspense and drama. Great job. Where do you get the music and how did you search this track out, the one with the ticking clock please tell us. In the mean time I am getting used to a new pair of boots struggling with the gear shift and studying to take my theory some time soon. Your an inspiration to an old cog. Thank you!
If you're struggling to get your new boots under the gear lever undo the lever and move it up one notch on the spline. This makes gear changes easier.👍
Sorry you didn’t enjoy the 1st part of your marathon, one of my most memorable rides was in the opposite direction on a filthy wet day, Spean Bridge (A82) and then A87 to the Kyle and then pre-bridge across the ferry to Skye. I’ve never felt so confident on wet roads than that day, great road surface. Your drone shots were awesome!
Tips. As soon as you can afford them get some Daytona Roadstar boots, cost a fortune but you will not get wet feet unless the water is a knee level. Get some good gore-tex gloves and do not use heated grip with them when its raining. Gore-tex is semi permeable and allows moisture to move from warm areas to cold areas i.e from your hands to the outside of the glove. If you put heated grips on then the wet outside of your glove becomes the warm area and the water moves from the outside into your glove resulting in cold wet hands.
To be fair, my boots are the new Oxford touring boots, I just didn't want to take any chances rocking getting my feet wet because it was hell on earthast time ☠️☠️☠️
@@rickconstant6106 disagree I did 350 miles from Cumbria up to skye none stop, most of it in strong rain. Apart from a few drop which worked there way past the visor becase I had to lift to stop my glasses steaming up a few times not a drop got through. Rukka and Daytona, can't be beat, but expensive.
Sometimes you just need to pull on your big pants, put your head down and battle on. This time next week the highs will far out weigh the lows in your thoughts and memories of the trip.

Honestly, thank god for my heated gear! I still carry it through summer for the rain! It just makes bad weather easier
Just goes to show how the weather can impact on your journey/road trip, good weather certainly makes a massive difference to the whole experience.
Wow. Even the weather couldnt ruin the beauty👍
P.s Prob booking my test for Sept.
Awesome saffy 👍 x missing the giggling laughter tho x hope all's well and more safe journeys to come x can't wait for the next one x till then stay safe x take care X luv always xxx
Ah yes! This was quite a difficult journey! Not much laughing this time, just have to get my head down and crack on 😭
@@SaffySprocket saffy your doing great x really enjoying your bloggs x
Brilliantly coriographed, Cast good as any. Really enjoyed that. Wish you had enjoyed it more .
Great vid, yeah Glencoe is stunning. I'm from just outside Glasgow so it's only a short trip for me. Really enjoy your videos.
I love Glencoe, really want to go back!
@@SaffySprocket give a shout next time you head up.
@@weemt07biker74 random bit of advice needed mate I’m from Dorset, down in the southwest and I’ve seen a camper for sale in Perth but I can’t decide on the best way of getting there drive/fly/train/ferry? Long distance taxi is out of the question cause I was getting quotes of about £2K 😂
@@AdamGoldswain alright mate, yeah that's the east coast, prob be best to see if you can get a cheap flight to Edinburgh.
@@weemt07biker74 yeah I think flying is also the best bet , if I drive it’s like a 1500 mile round trip. Long old way for a camper right 😂 nevertheless cheers for the reply mate 👍
Another great video from Saffy and the Sprocket Rocket 😊
Thank you so much 💓
Well done Lass, haste ye back.
Thanks 😊
It is and always be the Adventure of a lifetime, you've been, where must of us would like to go.. Keep living the Dream, enjoy the ride.. why does Living goes so fast. Stay safe.. cheers
So much respect!
You al ready bin to Holland?
You got a new fan 🤗
Be save , bless you
Being mentally tough is a big help. Chemo made my hands 'n feet really cold adverse, so I know that feeling you have Saffy.
Decisions made are for the most part appropriate at that moment and hind sight doesn't help much.
Take care and God bless you with safe travels.
You're totally right! Hope chemo is going well! I remember my sister being so cold when she went through hers too! It's not a fun experience ❤️ thinking of you
Introduction of this video about motorcycle riding one could close there eyes and feel that first turn of the key the first ride well done 👏 love how over there it's a petro station here in the states it's a gas station stay safe thanks for sharing your experience with us 🇺🇸 👍
😅
What a story teller, well done gorgeous. I was totally with you all the way.
You a fast becoming my favourite biking Vlogger.
Really looking forward to the next marathon trip...
Thank you so much 💓 im so glad I have a place I can waffle on ahahhaha
I have often done Ashby-de-la-Zouch to Spean Bridge in a day but the real killer was last year. Loch Ness to home in a oner. I think it's the excitement of setting off that makes the biggest difference.
Your tent is massive!! Think about going lightweight you will love it even more! Bmw s1000xr with one 35lt camping bag 😁😁😁
Fantastic stamina. Thatsa long time on the bike ! Im done after 4 hours 🤣
But sometimes it’s good to remember, it not always about the destination but the journey .
Not going to lie, I was broken for a good week after
Was there a couple of weeks ago and more or less had the same experience 😢 rain, disasters etc & my Ducati electrics went haywire!
Possibly ahaha the rust is being to creep in on parts of my bike now
Really enjoyed this one saffy. Good music, loverly editing wonderful story and star wars t shirt. Very proud. Well done.
Thank you so much 💓 💗 💛
Inch by inch, mile by mile great video 😎👍
Like the 'mistakes and all' style, together with the narrative and great scenery. One bit of advice - don't park your bike over the grating at the carwash. If you remove and replace the bike keys - always a chance of dropping them between the gratings. Flourescent ultralightweight waterproof shell jacket is a must for those very wet/overcast days. Keeps you warmer too.
Oh damn 🥲never thought of that
I've travelled from London to Shropshire on my SV650, fair play to you, I was sore and aching when I got home!
That's still a heck of a journey!
@@SaffySprocket do you have issues with the gear indicator? The screen on mine flickers between gears.
Welldone girl wish you best of luck your new subscriber from Pakistan (y)
I'm still learning on my 125 and I love ever moment of it and no truer words then what you said a the start saffy. P.s another brilliant and amazing video keep them coming please 🙂
Ah amazing! I have a friend at the moment going through her CBT, it's easy to forget about difficult it is starting out
Incredible..
Excellent again you are a pleasure to watch always look forward to your vids saffy ❤❤
Ah the Tiger is a great choice!
When it's really hoying it down may I suggest an oversuit that sits over your boots & gloves stopping water running down your jacket arms/trousers into them. Oxford do a one piece or two piece for a very reasonably price....
I'd get too hot!
Great video as always well edited and so much fun to watch ☺️ keep up with the you 👍
Thank you so much 💓
Not sure how but ive only just seen this video Saffy 🤦🏻♂️ I feel your pain on the miserable weather and choices on a trip, we once left Cadwell BSB to try and beat the weather, left as soon as the last superbike race had finished with the aim of getting home before the weather was terrible……..
Oh my god that sounds awful, I've had a few cats eye trail moments in the dark 😭
These videos are getting better and better edited and filmed. 👍
Thank you so much 💓
Saffy, remember.......
You cannot calm the storm
You can calm yourself
The storm will pass.
Buddhist saying 🙂
Ride safe and have fun, Grumps
I love that ❤️
Another great vid, little tip, if you’ve a long ride ahead of you, stay away from sugary foods and carbs, eat fats instead, such as eggs, nuts, coconut oil in your coffee, etc. It’ll give you better mental clarity and sustained energy.
I don't comment on videos too much...but my god that woman who didn't even try to hold the door for you at the Welcome Break...I'd have muttered some serious words in her general direction I tell you.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I did think she was a little rude but figured maybe I looked intimidating with my helmet on
Nice trip Saffy, great videos. I've never been to Skye, maybe this year :)
It's really worth a visit!
Cracking video. Love the scenery up there. Hope you have dried out after that rain. Hate riding in the rain.
Took a few days to dry my kit out
Well done saffy ride safe lovely greetings from st Helens Merseyside..
Thank you so much 💓
@@SaffySprocket no worries lovely looking forward to seeing you on a trackday on a sportsbike one day ..
I've just got back to South Wales after a week in Scotland and got very wet one day. However Scotland is always worth the effort for what you get to see 🤣
Scotland is fantastic 🤩
To be fair, my boots are the new Oxford touring boots, I just didn't want to take any chances rocking getting my feet wet because it was hell on earthast time ☠️☠️☠️
In my experience, it doesn't matter what you're wearing, if you ride 450 miles in a day, in the rain, it will get through.
Very true!
I did a similar trip myself from Yorkshire up and around loch ness and back home in 44 hours, two terrible camps and around 6 tanks of fuel, but life's not about watching TV
until you do it you don't know 😘
For sure😂 got told I make biking look horrifically difficult, was like, Nawh, we have a different idea of fun that's all 😂😂😂
Saffy, a warm welcome from Shropshire 🏍️🏍️
Thank you so much 💓
