Kimi is loved by the entire f1 fandom exactly because of his dry demeanor. The guy truly only wants to race, he couldn't care less about the whole PR and fame part of it. That's part of why we call him The Iceman but we don't love him just because of that. Kimi is an exceptionally good and clever driver as well. Just one example of how great he is: He started on position 16, made up a whopping 10 places in just one lap, without pushing anyone off the track, while sitting in an ALFA Romeo! As an F1 Fan you know it's considered impossible to do that in the opening lap, especially if the car you're sitting in is a fraking Alfa!
Kimi Raikkonen the iceman The origin of this nickname for Kimi dates back to his days at McLaren. Kimi used to always be found sleeping just before a race which led to the mechanics at McLaren calling him the “Iceman” for remaining so ice-calm in probably a very tense situation before the start of a race. Peace out.
"Just Kimi Things" The Pelli one i remember seeing, and they weren't able to bleep it on live TV, so we were treated to "I was taking a shit", I laughed so much.
One of his best racing moments was that overtake on the Eau Rouge at Spa against Schumacher. Schumacher already was going wicked fast, but that part of the course is tricky, and takes some care to get through. Kimi just SENT IT.
Kimi was one of the few who had the balls and skill to fight Schumacher during his super dominant period. Spa is a great example, not sure what year but I will never forget how hard he fought Schumi. Kimi was imo one of the greatest F1 drivers but, man, he had some bad luck. Also note how crewchiefs have no idea how to use radio and are often far from reality looking at their data screens, not understanding what it's like to sit in that cockpit. You still see it today, when drivers ask not to communicate going into a corner. It can be very distracting at 300 kph.
Thank you, glad you like it. I enjoy learning all of the different Motorsports, eras and drivers, and especially interacting with viewers and Racing fans all around the world 🎉👍
I’m not sure how much you’ve kept up with this nascar season, but Kimi actually raced at Watkins Glen this year. You should react to his highlights from that race because his interview style was completely different to how he did interviews in f1. The best way to describe Kimi in his time in formula one to nascar fans is that he was a mix of Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth. He had Newman Speed but Kenseth Consistency (when the car didn’t break down on him). Carried a lot of bad luck in his career, and he wasn’t the most adaptable driver either. But when the car was set up correctly to his liking, he was as fast as any driver who ever raced. Everyone praises his speed in the 2000s, he loved a car with a sharp front end (this would mean oversteer or loose in nascar terms) and had the best understanding of the Michelin tyres and their grip levels. He truly was the fastest driver in the mid 2000s, he may have won the WDC in 2007, but you could argue he should’ve won it in 03’-year old chassis and 05’-reliability. You should definitely react to “Kimi 700 IQ compilation”. He definitely lost a lot of his edge after Michelin left, but he was also one of the smartest drivers on the grid as well. Now granted I’ve really started watching F1 in 2020 and seen it bit by bit since the early 2000s, the age of social media today does capture hilarious moments of Kimi like in this video for example, but his greatness does tend to get overshadowed now
Yeah it's funny how the McLaren didn't suite Kimi and everyone road him off saying that he's no good anymore even though he won a championship with Ferrari mmm sounds like somebody else at the moment is going through the same thing
Kimi took a car from midfield to the top ten at Watkins until he got punted into the fence at the bus stop by someone else. If that’s forgettable, at his age, I’ll gladly watch more thank you. Sheesh. The guy did good for an older driver in his first NASCAR race in over a decade. He was aggressive as hell. Having fun. Sprained his wrist or hand in the wreck too I think. That’s pushing.
The press over hyped his appearance. That didn’t help. He’s retired and just doing the occasional odd race now. He’s not the driver of 2007. NASCAR has buried that facts that for over twenty years F1 raced at WAtkins. The last race was around 1980. That track still has fans in Europe. Politics and financial issues aside, they are fans. Hamilton stated so when he came here to do a track swap with Smoke in 2010. That swap was so popular several thousand people showed up on a Wednesday to watch. On a workday! Folks called in sick to go watch a modern F1 car with a champ driver run on the long course and swap cars with a top nascar driver of the time. They both ran the long course. Why something more never came from that I’ll never understand. It was an opportunity lost. If nothing else Smoke said they should run the long course to add real passing zones. But the NASCAR officials choked on that suggestion. Now F1 is huge on tv, and WGI is slowly starving. Fading back to one big race per year with fan support really packing only the NASCAR race and even that isn’t as big as it was in the 90s. A real opportunity missed.
there was a race they woke him up half an hour before the start - the man loves a nap lol There's also his crash in Monaco where he just walked back to his new yacht instead of going to the pits

The master of understatement, minimal statement and does exactly what he wants. An F1 legend and the true embodiment of Finland and Finnish people. Everybody loves Kimi.
Thanks bro! That is basic Finnish "small talk". Everybody loved/loves the "Ice Man". He did exactly what he wanted, especially here in Finland. Basically he broke every rule in his contract. He drove/drives everything and anything that goes fast. Snow mobile racing, 4 wheelers, he officially competed on WRC and other Rallies when he had his gap year, Nascar in different categories, DTM, Touring cars you name it...But his "public persona" is totally different compared to his normal "relaxing with the guys" persona. He is so hilarious and funny and friendly and always pulls some crazy stunts. He is a legend here in Finland and even more legendary are the stories what happens when he engages himself with the other Finnish National "hobby"! Any guesses? 😍😍🤩🤩Many times it involves "the Karaoke Bar" in Helsinki.
To me, Kimi is an idol. Does what he loves, sais what he thinks, F1 champion. Has driven F1, WRC, NASCAR, Snowmobiles etc. was more like "old time" playboy driver
The best Kimi was when he was out in Monaco and instead of going to his team, he walked right arround teh circut to his Yacht and watched the reace and had some drinks...
If you want to learn more about Kimi, there are a bunch of great videos over YT! You should probably check out the 2007 title fight which was one if not the closest one ever, and any video that gives an idea of the raw talent this guy had and probably still has. His way up to F1 was one of a kind story, and even he isn't the most successful driver, his time in F1 was one of a kind story as well. Challenging MSC in his early years, (first) career in Ferrari, getting replaced by Alonso, going to WRC for 2 years and coming back to F1 and being a title rival in a middle ground team, then going back to Ferrari.. All this and still being completely himself the whole 20 years. You won't find another Kimi!
And of course the what might be the best ever first lap in F1 history th-cam.com/video/2ChdaNDFI30/w-d-xo.html This was all in a below average performing car. Yes, he was on softs when most of the field were running mediums, but still pretty damn impressive from a driver who was "well beyond his prime"
Kimi is a guy who hates PR stuff, but everyone who knows him better says he is a really fun guy to hang out with. A really laid back person, who just doesnt care about media stuff
Oh! Theres few best ones missing! One in Monaco when he had to quit and he just walked straight to his boat instead of the paddock! And the time he was denied his drink while driving!
I remember Kimi winning his last race in Austin, Texas for Ferrari this time 5 years ago(has it been that long). But you should listen to Kimi bitching about his drink bottle, it's classic Kimi!
Kimi's best race has to be the 2005 Japan race and one of the best interview is at his comeback to F1 where he was asked about his hunger for the second title.
G'Day Ian, Kimi was straight down the line, it wasn't the engineers, owners or sponsors sitting behind the wheel of those cars, it was him, the driver who was risking his life dancing around the other juggernauts out on the track every week or two. In my opinion that gives him every right to speak to them with complete abandon. As for the media, take a step back, these drivers are averaging laps of tracks like Monza in excess of 260 kmh or 160 mph in their chosen profession. The majority of the media have never exceeded 100 mph on a controlled track, they have no idea of the mental and physical stresses imparted on a professional race car driver of any sort, let alone an F1 driver. Get the cameras and microphones out of their nostrils, give them some space and the respect they deserve. After you've taken your pretty photos drive your Prius back to your office at the posted speeds and brag about the challenging day you had getting a photo of an arsehole F1 driver.
Kimi was the last of them... Also the last one that I was a fan of, although we now have a Dutch F1 champion it just isn't the same feeling as I had with Kimi. I NEED A DRINK
Kimi was BRILLIANT!! Why use 15 words if 6 will do? Totally dry, wicked sense of humour! He once crashed at the Monaco grand prix & rather than go back to the pits he went & sat on his yacht in the harbour & chilled with a beer!! What a dude!! 🤣🍻👌
The anacdotes of the older drivers of te 2000s and 90s are priceless . Coulthard , Doornbos . all have stories about him that he would walk in a driver briefing still hung over late and signed his name with just a dot . Or got in to the car drove a few laps tolld the engineers the car is sh**** in corner x , y , z and left . During the world champion ship gala he was drunk as a skunk accepting his award finishing top 3 . In monaco he crashed stepped out of the car walked to his boat and watched the race . Alonso is another character as well . his antics with mclaren where priceless . and most turned in to memes.
Was a Kimi fan before it was a popular thing, to get emotion out of Kimi it has to be doing something he wanted to do. Tractor racing on the Austria gp was good example can't remember the year tho as I haven't watched F1 for ages
Kimi is super nice. Just a down to the earth person minding his own business. He goes often Karting with his family on the local outdoor Karting track. The good thing here is , everyone is leaving him alone :)
You need to check Kimi and the "you will not have the drink" saga. There were like 4 or 5 different races where he complained about a non-functional drinking system. its hilarious.
Kimi still remains the last Ferrari's World Champion in F1. After the title he was doing some rallying for couple of years, until he came back to win more F1 -races.
It's rare in F1 for a driver to get a name other than their own. Kimi is the Iceman. I'm sure you get why even from a few clips. One BBC interview, he's wearing glasses, they said can you take them off, he said no, they asked again, he said should I leave now. He did the interview with his sunglasses on. Dude the boss. He knows who's in charge and how to play the media.
I'd LOVE to hear Kimi in the commentary box, the dry and deadpan responses he'd give them would at minimum double viewership figures. It'd give older viewers some memories of the late, great James Hunt.
I noticed Kimi often did the best after interviews with Swedish Viasat. Their reporter Janne Blomqvist often bribed Kimi with Swedish snus (a tobacco product that's illegal in Finland).
Don't mean to ruin the fun!! But sad part is most people these days or I would say most new F1 fans know him only as a funny guy. Back in the days... Kimi was a beast!! Was very unlucky not to win 03 & 05 WDCs with McLaren. If anyone really wants to know the Prime Kimi... watch 2005 Japanese GP ❤️🔥 Iceman at his Best 🤩🙌🏻
Saw him driving a WRC Fiesta in the Finland Rally in 2011 whilst on our honeymoon. Speed he was piloting that thing through the forest you’d think it was closing time at the bar. Legendary driver 👌
About the things he wasnt allowed to do in F1... Yeah, he didnt really care much. He used to enter into different kinds of races under different fake names and afterwards end up all over the news about it :D. But I have to say, these were far from the best of Kimi.

some rare moments, in the Malaysian GP race stopped due to heavy rain. somehow KIMI changed his clothes very quickly and started to eat ice cream in the ferrari garage.
In his early career Kimi liked to party a lot. I was sleeping as I had morning shift starting at 6am. When I woke up I had like 50 missed calls and couple of voice mails. One of the voice mail was from Kimi. He said in Finnish something like "I heard you are a big fan. You should join us!". Never would imagine Kimi partying in our small town

My fav f1 driver, just no nonesense, no dramas. Cold as Ice
His nickname was "The Ice Man" 😁
Kimi Raikkonen the iceman
The origin of this nickname for Kimi dates back to his days at McLaren. Kimi used to always be found sleeping just before a race which led to the mechanics at McLaren calling him the “Iceman” for remaining so ice-calm in probably a very tense situation before the start of a race. Peace out.
well it was more like a hobby for him
True that it was at McLaren mate but it was the team boss that named him that
"Just Kimi Things"
The Pelli one i remember seeing, and they weren't able to bleep it on live TV, so we were treated to "I was taking a shit", I laughed so much.
Yes, Kimi at Spa in 2005 was amazing. 2seconds a lap faster than anyone else. Massa at that time tried the intermidiate tyre, bad decision
I love the dry bluntness of the Finns. I remember that "I was doing a shit" comment live on TV 🤣
Kimi is a legend! Love the channel it's nice to see a true racing fan put up fun videos and give appreciation to F1.
Thank you, glad you like it. I enjoy learning all of the different Motorsports, eras and drivers, and especially interacting with viewers and Racing fans all around the world 🎉👍
Kimi is the only driver to win in the V10, V8, and V6 eras of F1. Bloody legend.
Now granted I’ve really started watching F1 in 2020 and seen it bit by bit since the early 2000s, the age of social media today does capture hilarious moments of Kimi like in this video for example, but his greatness does tend to get overshadowed now
Pretty forgettable at Watkins Glen considering Marcos Ambrose from Supercars won it years ago.
Yeah it's funny how the McLaren didn't suite Kimi and everyone road him off saying that he's no good anymore even though he won a championship with Ferrari mmm sounds like somebody else at the moment is going through the same thing
For me, I will always remember Kimi's drive from 17 to victory in 05, when Kimi passed Fisichella on last lap of the race at suzuka.
A real opportunity missed.
there was a race they woke him up half an hour before the start - the man loves a nap lol
There's also his crash in Monaco where he just walked back to his new yacht instead of going to the pits
He didn't crash his car overheated
@@mattsmith5421 that's right Matt and it was a long thirsty walk back so he thought pits or piss he chose the correct option and that was get on the piss probably because he was pissed off
The master of understatement, minimal statement and does exactly what he wants. An F1 legend and the true embodiment of Finland and Finnish people. Everybody loves Kimi.
I still can't get over "Kimi, what happened out there?" "I spun." Followed by five seconds of silence
Man was on demand at over 40yrs old in f1. Savage. Hyvä Suomi!🤘🇫🇮❤️
Kimi at Monaco, retired from the race, heads straight to his yacht
You're missing the fact that not only is a funny and savage, he's also a Formula 1 world champion and was fast af in his prime.
This only scratches the surface about Kimi... He is the TRUE LEGEND. He has maaaany more clips that you can't miss!
The word legend was made for describing Kimi. Did you know he raced rally cars for 2 years? Around 2010 if I'm right
The best Kimi was when he was out in Monaco and instead of going to his team, he walked right arround teh circut to his Yacht and watched the reace and had some drinks...
Team to the F1 driver: You got the pole position!
F1 Driver: Yeaahhh, awesome, yessss, woohoooooo!!!
Kimi: ok
1:02 The reporter is David Coulthard, former F1 driver, 13-time race winner and for several seasons Kimi's teammate at McLaren.
Finns in general have a "don't give a crap, don't take any crap" direct attitude. And Kimi is very Finnish.
Probably my favourite driver of all time, legend. They didn't call him the iceman for nothing lol
Kimi is honestly a blessing. To see his career was incredible
Kimi is a Legend. I´m glad I witnessed his whole Career.
Like the time a reporter almost got ran over by Daniel Riccardo in the pits
Kimi was the last of them...
Also the last one that I was a fan of, although we now have a Dutch F1 champion it just isn't the same feeling as I had with Kimi.
I NEED A DRINK
Kimi was BRILLIANT!! Why use 15 words if 6 will do? Totally dry, wicked sense of humour! He once crashed at the Monaco grand prix & rather than go back to the pits he went & sat on his yacht in the harbour & chilled with a beer!! What a dude!! 🤣🍻👌
He is called the ICEMAN for a reason. It's not blood in his system, but rather vodka..
You have to watch the best radio communications 2010-2019 (or 2020 forgot the title of the video) it's mostly a compilation of Alonso & Kimi
To quote Danny Ric...."Kimi's a c#%t of a bloke" 😂
He was called "ice man" for a reason. Legendary driver, greatly missed by all Motorpsort fans.
Was a Kimi fan before it was a popular thing, to get emotion out of Kimi it has to be doing something he wanted to do. Tractor racing on the Austria gp was good example can't remember the year tho as I haven't watched F1 for ages
Do you mean the lawnmower race?
@@niklasfabricius5530 well no and yes they are tractors that just happen to cut grass
@@niklasfabricius5530 yeah in Australia we call them ride on mowers they hold racing events around the country
Going to the yatch while the race was going on has to be top 1come one...
A night on the drink with Kimi would be the ultimate.
Racing, that’s about it.
That sums Kimi up. He doesn’t like the publicity, he just wants to drive and can’t be bothered the hide the fact.
You need to see the clip when he lost his steeringwheel and gloves 😂
Kimi still remains the last Ferrari's World Champion in F1. After the title he was doing some rallying for couple of years, until he came back to win more F1 -races.
It's rare in F1 for a driver to get a name other than their own. Kimi is the Iceman. I'm sure you get why even from a few clips. One BBC interview, he's wearing glasses, they said can you take them off, he said no, they asked again, he said should I leave now. He did the interview with his sunglasses on. Dude the boss. He knows who's in charge and how to play the media.
i like the one that he is asked: "where do you think the car must be improved?" and he said: "around the lap"
He's an absolute legend. You gain that sort of leeway when you are that good.
It might seem like he was a very aggressive and dangerous driver but he is actually known for being super fair and always leaving enough room!
You must have recorded this before Kimi’s NASCAR debut at Watkins Glen with Trackhouse. They even gave him the drink!
Don't even need to watch it before hitting the like. Kimi is a legend
Oh it was glorious to get to see this man's career, pre race drivers conferences will never be the same.
If anyone really wants to know the Prime Kimi... watch 2005 Japanese GP ❤️🔥
Iceman at his Best 🤩🙌🏻
I'd recommend also watching racing moments of kimi's
He's got plenty of those too
i love Kimi. straight to the point and doesnt f*** around
Saw him driving a WRC Fiesta in the Finland Rally in 2011 whilst on our honeymoon. Speed he was piloting that thing through the forest you’d think it was closing time at the bar. Legendary driver 👌
This was really tame as far as Kimi goes. A true character of motorsports and Formula 1.
About the things he wasnt allowed to do in F1... Yeah, he didnt really care much. He used to enter into different kinds of races under different fake names and afterwards end up all over the news about it :D. But I have to say, these were far from the best of Kimi.

Ignorant american
It starts at 0:40, not 1:01.
As for English - anyone 12 and older shouldn't have any problem following an interview in English if you are born and raised in Scandinavia/Finland.
some rare moments, in the Malaysian GP race stopped due to heavy rain. somehow KIMI changed his clothes very quickly and started to eat ice cream in the ferrari garage.
The John McEnroe of f1 lol. Absolute savage and an amazing driver.
Kim is great, his dry personality and antics almost overshadow just how fast and talented he was as a driver.
There was missing: "Steering wheel", Monaco where Kimi disappeared onto his yacht, "you will not have the drink" and Brazil when he got lost
Once when asked by an interviewer what advice he had for young drivers his answer: if you want to win races, just make sure you stay in front. Very important
He won 2007 Championship driving for Ferrari 🎉
It’s enough to win it in once to be king 👑
When his car overheated at Monaco 2006 he didn't go back to the pits he walked straight to his yacht.
1:05 the reporter is David Coulthard, former Williams, Mclaren and RedBull formula 1 driver. Almost all the reporters that you see on the field were F1 drivers.
My favorit Kimi moment is probably when he moved to Sauber wich changed name before the star of the next season and the reporters ask do you still have passion for the sport and he answers something like "no I just want to be miserable for two years just so i can mess whit your heads."
He lives in the neighboring town and you can see him from time to time. He used to drive a white escalade which was easy to spot.
Kimi wanted a bad rep to get out of PR but instead of getting out he got pushed to more because he was amazing
He would still be racing in F1 is it wasn't for all the media reuirements because all he loved was cars and racing
