I personally believe that unemployability is a bigger issue than unemployment. If we give it just 1% attention to unemployability that we give to unemployment figures, the issue of unemployment will be solved automatically.

Great video! As an instructor from Nepal, I totally agree that outdated curricula are a major factor in unemployability. It's not just about updating what's taught but also how we test students. Current exams focus too much on memorization instead of practical skills, which leaves students unprepared for real-world jobs.
Bro you're from Nepal ... Do Nepal face these same problems ?
Coz 80% youth obsessed with govt exams.....hence unemployed
Because it's the system that teaches the youth to become a servant and not a leader, entrepreneur etc. The whole Indian education system was designed to create slaves!! As an employer, I can tell you that it's true. Population is not skilled enough to work in service sector, and they don't want to work in manufacturing, which is the backbone of the nation. They only want Gajjar ka halwa(government jobs). Such attitude will lead us no where. At core, we need to glamourise manufacturing jobs, like we do with service sector jobs. How? By incentivising content creators. Who will fund it? Manufacturing companies. But why? May be because government will incentivise them to do it. Just a thought.

As recruiters, we prioritize hiring candidates with strong knowledge. We immediately reject those who are uncertain about their education or degree, even if they possess skills.
The issue lies not with the curriculum, but with the students themselves. In the 50 to 60 interviews I conduct every month with B.Tech graduates, many struggle to articulate what they learned during their four years of study. Some can’t even recall the names of their subjects, leading to their rejection for positions. We need attentive and knowledgeable professionals, not just skill-based labor.
We want knowledge over skills, as a firm we have the ability to develop the necessary skills in them.
I think it is the problem with our mindset regarding upskilling. We keep on hearing that your life will be set after 10th, after graduation, after job their is no need to worry about anything this NEED TO BE CHANGED
questions - is it unemployment or underemployment?
IMO, many steps which can be taken here. i am sure these are already in the works
1. Move youth away from city based employment - increase employment is local sectors such as organic farming, agroforestry, fisheries to name a few
2. Expand the traditional arts and crafts sector and create cooperatives to market goods
3. Skills/vocational training as opposed to degrees
4. Review of educational system - take heed of traditional flexible educational system which was based on skills/vocational training
5. There are always limited jobs available in ANY company - encourage small and medium sized businesses such as small farms and businesses
6. Develop infrastructure in rural areas to increase rural employment and decrease load on cities
7. Develop speciality small business for production of biodegradable goods and natural fibres

Our education system was formed to produce government clerks but now that government posts are so low this system is proving to be a cancer for Indian youth. the problem is not in iits or aiims or in top institutes, the problem is that average indian college teaches outdated syllabus that's why people say to take cse in tier 2 and tier 3 colleges as in cse we can update ourselves easily but for other branches like eee, ece, civil etc they need well equiped labs and updated syllabus which these colleges don't even fullfill.
Exactly . Upskilling is the necessity now .
Even an average university in the US is better than all the IITs combined.
That is an amazing analysis man. Talking about the real problem here.
Especially the Bcom BBA degrees are absolutely pathetic, until and unless you have graduated from DU or some other good university. These degree don't carry any value at all. Btech is lacking with updation but Bcom BBA me bhi haal kuch khas nahi hai. For ex: The Accounts curriculum of Nagpur University was teaching accounting according to the Companies Act 1956 till 2022. They updated their curriculum according to 2013 act last year. 10 saal lag gaye naye accounting standards ko syllabus me lane me!!
Its high time for educational reforms for the nation. The new education policy has been launched but its yet to be implemented. We need to thoroughly revise the curriculum of all the streams from STEM and arts and commerce as well. There has to be a cohesive blend of theory and practical knowledge. There have to be discussions on the curriculum between the teachers and the students as there used to be during vedic times. Assignments given to students have to be challenging and complementary to the course work taught in the institutions. India needs to wake up about this asap.
Exactly 💓
The way I see it, the most important thing India needs is a good environment. One should be prioritizing the quality of output, that is the quality of the student above any and all factors. We must enable him to have basic skills to navigate the world, allow him to specialize quickly and dynamically as well as provide other skills he may fall back on in case the job market in the field of his interest is not good. Point is, one must create a system that has and promotes good quality and is truly dynamic and accommodating.
@@anjanavabiswas8835 I agree for that infrastructure development in the education sector is required. Teacher to student ratio is terrible as of now in the country. For making a good learning and job environment, quality of education, quantity of good teachers, infrastructure for research should increase multifold. Focus should be on the cognitive and personality development skills of the students rather than rote learning.

An average Indian will spend their resources, time, money for 15-18 Years on their education, yet when it comes for capitalizing on the knowledge and skills learnt throughout the years, they are told they are not skilled enough and hence should pursue the skills from elsewhere by again investing their resources and time. Most people cannot even afford the basic education or are incapable to pursue or have a tough time in completing the full 15-18 years for education, eventually, they do not even land with a decent job because it requires "Additional skills" or the skills they posses are " not up to the mark". I think it is not the individuals fault but the fault in the system, which is unfit and incompetent to make anyone withstand in this era.
I think the onus is completely on the education system/institutions and not on the students, the institutions should be liable to up skill the individuals because the students have invested a lot in them in terms money and time.
After spending 15-18 years on education when a person is told what you learnt was not enough for even grabbing a basic job, I feel is a complete fraud for the student.

these so called "skill ke piche bhaago job mil jayegi" is also a scam nowadays, there aren't much jobs in India, if you are having some kind of skill, webdev, analytics, digital marketing etc. You won't get a job unless you have first level connections with your tier 1 college alumni, or industry connections, otherwise taking jobs in private sector is next to impossible, If you are okay with BPO call center jobs it's your choice, but if you want a career, unfortunately, you are born in India.

There are vacancies in different departments and deserving aspirants too but vacancies may be reported but the deserving aspirants may weep in closed doors It is said that where there is a will there is a way perhaps govt has not got a will to provide employments to the educated youth
What you are saying is true, in my btech course, the first year is wasted because for some reason they teach you stuff from other branches for no reason and this happens everywhere, why do i need to learn mechanics, physics, chemistry in the first year of computer engineering. Second thing is that even the curriculum is useless, it does have newer topics like ai, blockchain, ml, but all at the basic skill level. Like for example, they will teach you that there are different types of ai models but dont teach you how to implement them, as a result students have to do it themselves from yt and online courses, the 75% compulsory attendance also takes away a lot of time from students. Moreover the guidance is also pretty bad, many students are clueless about what they have to do regarding their future they do things jusy because they have to do with no reason behind them, like one time I asked my friend what you are doing (learning) she said that she was learning java, so i asked her what job she wants, she was like she had no idea what kind of job she wanted, she was learning it just because her friend said her to do so. The youth is just confused because they have no idea what to do and there is no one helping them understand what they have to do, this is because the system is very rigid.
