Sometimes after seeing these men live like 15 to 20 times all in the New York area and twice at Maxwell's in Hoboken when it was still there I thank myself for liking a homegrown New York City band and a group that lays down the party ethic forever
This was the first band I ever saw in my life live. They played outside the record store in the early 80s in Huntington Beach in the old Seacliff Village Shopping Center. I remember the singer playing the tambourine and the harmonica. I was about 12.
saw this band open for the Police at the Cow Palace in SF in 1982. We were at the front of the stage, center, against the wall. They opened for the Police. The crowd hated them. My buddies and I, all 6 foot tall or taller were pummeled by coins that were thrown at the band. We started to beg the band to leave the stage. Finally, someone in the crowd threw a malted at the lead singer and hit him square in the chest. At that point, the lead singer climbed up on top of one of the large speakers in the front of the stage and he started to berate the audience. Which of course only cause more coins to be thrown. Thankfully, they left the stage afterward and me and my friends were spared any further abuse. We actually like the band but they never had a chance.
love finding this
Out of thousands of live bands I've seen, my favorite.

Those were great times! The Fleshtones rule!
Rock as it should be played. Fun,stupid in your face with a good beat and chanting too!
Gordon Spaeth (saxophone) sadly, passed on in 2005. Fun band. I knew these guys.
