  • I see one big mistake happen over and over again when people are organizing their craft rooms and creative spaces. In this video, I am breaking down the major oversight that a lot of us are committing, and I show you how I address this in my basement craft room. Trust me - this is something that is so important whether you have a small craft closet or a huge craft room!

Thank you. This is very timely for me. I converted my porch which we closed in with windows for a playroom for the kids moons ago, into a craft porch. There's windows basically all around. Which is beautiful BUT then I have all these rolly drawers under my counter. It kind of makes using the counter inconvenient. So I am currently eye balling what little area of wall I have here and there to turn into tall to the ceiling, shelves with bins because I didn't think I can manage drawers. But it should give me back my leg space for me and my friends when they come over to craft. I really appreciate your ideas! I'm going to go and start measuring and dreaming of a new way!!! 👍

I did the towel racks for my stencils too, but found racks that were double, one bar directly in front of the other. This let me get 4 for the space of two, plus the edges on the left and right sides. Enjoyed this, TFS.

I don't have much vertical space because there are tall shelving units on almost all the walls. I've got the arcylic shelves for washi on the walls. Behind the door on the wall i have something I've never seen on a video of an art studio, classroom pockets for cell phones. It's like shoe organizer, but with smaller pockets. It is perfect for storing stickers that don't come in books or on sheets. And other small things. I also have a flat paper organizer on the back of the door. You can't even see those things when the door is open , which it usually is. I'm so blessed to have a separate room for my art and writing!!!

I wish I had a full room that I could use as a craft room but I live in a two bedroom apartment with my two girls so I have a closet lol

I start many projects in my "good months", then my disease returns and stop me. My tiny craftroom is transformed in a sort of hospital room for a while. Equipments are needed, and all my creative stuff gets in the way. Any idea? Rotating walls like in the movies, magic bags where it all disappears? I should hide that mess, nobody does it for me, but I can't.
To have a relaxing recovery in a clean empty room, the only way is never start projects in the first place...

I'd just keep out the projects you are working on rhe supplies needed for them. Have a laptable that you can work on from your bed. It can be therapeutic to keep occupied but do a project that is lighter or simpler. I have a lot of chronically ill friends that are crafters & artists.

Unfortunately I do nit have much verticle soace. I have 2 doors 2 closets and a slanted wall/ceiling! That space irritates me so much! I have thought about moving to another bedroom but I have 3 chikdren( griwn) their spouses abd 9 Grandchikdren and both of the other bedrooms ate larger than my craft room. If I were in my 49tys ,I woukd have an unfinished area finished! I am almost 70. So, it's not gonna happen. I nake myself happy in my space. I have utilized what verticle space I have! Love the ideas!

Oh boy, you are running out of space for your display of patreons! You may need clothes lines overhead soon 😂 ⚾️

How often do you dust all of this? And is the washing wall particularly difficult?

Probably dust once every couple of weeks with a swiffer duster, so it isn't too bad.

Yeah thats why i prefer especially smaller things to be covered. Harder to dust them.
