KuddlyKisses yes that's true. That's because all the cards are available, so everyone can play the same strategy each time. There are ways of getting around this, like only using ten of the fifteen cards selected at random. or use the new mechanic supplied with the harbour expansion.
We just played the newest version of this (with 6 places to build, not just 4) on Saturday. 5 players, all new to the game... and it took over 3 HOURS!!! It was just a slogfest, with so much money going around and being stolen by others before it could be used to build anything! The box says "30 minutes". It should say "30 minutes per player".
Tom is the number one reviewer no doubt, I always check in with him when a game comes out to see if its a buy or not.. But this review is so off,, especially with the dice tower logo on the box. This game is SOO broken. Why is it? Decide to play with two dice and I will beat you easily 9 out of 10 only using one die and buying the 2-3 and 4 cards than finishing the shopping mall.. I like the idea of this game so much I also just purchased machi koro millionaire expansion, lets see if this is saving grace.
This is my first time disagreeing with Tom. The expansion delivers exactly what he is looking for. However I do not enjoy this game after two attempts with different groups. I personally don't like the stealing aspect of the game, but that's just me
I would add that 1v1 is garbage. There is always one player that gets way ahead in the first 10-20 rounds and just destroys everyone. DO NOT PLAY 2 PLAYER!!
its not a 1v1 game .... thats why there are cards that you get x coins from ALL players, doesnt make sense this wording if it would be 1v1 ... its a 2-4 player game
I love this game. It's like Monopoly on speed. It's the best parts of Monopoly with all the boring long drawn=out parts removed.

just an update. There is now an expansion :) Makes the replay-ability to the roof. It is totally worth.

Tom, have you tried Machi Koro Plus? It's the 2013 expansion with 13 new types of cards and 68 new cards in total.

Nice Tease - I wonder if a US publisher will pick this up. I've been looking for it without any luck.
The English version is limited and they only sell it on ESSEN(and its sold out now). Some Japanese online store still has Japanese version.

Even thought its written in Kanji on the box, all the writing on the cards is in English, in every version.
